Assuming he follows our laws and doesn't betray us see no reason not to give him a second chance.

@DragonParadox this is a random cultural question but how have Pillow Houses been treated under our rule in general? With freeing with likely a great deal of bed-slaves, which are a majority in Lys compared freemen, and our own work in Tryrosh and later Myr do most continue with their profession just under their personal freedom to do so?

I know quest has talked about how Viserys has gained a much better understanding of people in sex trade and doesn't view them inhumanly like most western lords, so is it just treated as another profession in general within our kingdom with even their own guilds?

Pillow houses are perfectly legal in Sorcerer's Deep and elsewhere in the kingdom, Selyse (Garin's wife) has a significant ownership of such establishments.

They tend to be among the most draconcaly policed businesses because of the significant potential for abuse (and because Viserys had friends in that business so he paid special attention to that part of the law) . To put it another way Stannis would be confused since on the one hand he disapproves of the business but on the other hand even he would approve of the degree o regulation.

No, it's posibile those runaway demons grabbed some loot on the way out

As if I needed more reason to kill the fuckers.

There's also the matter that you need a very good spy network to know everything that is going on around us. A lot of our actions look utterly nonsensical without knowing the bigger picture.

"What the hell is he doing now?"

"He appears to be talking to a flower."

"What?"

"And now he's turned a cat into a woman with wings."

"By the Seven."

@DragonParadox I find the people who believe that Hermetia is just our dinner leavings to be particularly foolish, and I'm sure Jarlar and some other canny Lyseni do too.

We pointed out that one of the few absolutely foolish things that Zherys did was make Teana embittered and treat her like a Mistress in the first place, when anyone who has reached or has the capability of breaching the third circle of magic is someone to be valued above gold or treasures or even armies, for in some ways the things they can do can circumvent or obsolete all of those things for you if you're clever enough, or worse, if they're clever enough.

Hermetia is not casting around Shadow of the Doom or even fireballs, but she can out intrigue Lyseni either by being more clever than them, or having more magic than them; she has both.

Thus, monumentally foolish.

It is useful though. The dumber of their ilk who think themselves clever will no doubt be hurling themselves at her for a chance of learning our secrets.

For it is general knowledge that horny men tell all kinds of tales after they've done the horizontal tango for at least five minutes.

@DragonParadox it's Liu, not Lieu.
It had taken three wishes spoken one after the other to even restore his sight so far, and it would likely require again that many today to see his sight restored.
Damn.
I read this with the voices from "Yes, Minister"!

Fantastic lines. I love this character.
And now I'm doing it too.

Stannis realizes that brothels and whore houses being outlawed caused riots. And ultimately would continue on regardless, people would just do it illegally and it would probably ten times worse for the women and cause even more disruption due to the types of people willing to risk setting them up.

That we regulate it to the degree that it is in our realm makes for a more "orderly" society.

I think he would at least approve that we tax it like any other business.

Stannis is a resorceful man, he can do both.:V

Ah Stannis. The fact that this "mere" mortal has been one of Viserys' most frustrating diplomatic efforts, even more so than subverting devils with a contract, due to his sheer stubbornness and adherence to duty is one of my favorite bits about this quest.

Also prelim vote?

[X] Give Jalar a copy of our constitution and some of our company bylaws. "Study them well and let me know what particularly interests you"
-[X] aka let him know how things work and give him a chance of picking his preferred path to power/riches/etc

Edit: typos

Or the irony that Stannis is one of the more respected Lords in Viserys' book, even compared to more powerful or accommodating ones. Maybe not necessarily liked, though.

 The guy who received a divine commandment to murder us and proceeded to summon Kingkiller Baelor to act against us? No. He's getting sacrificed.

Yeah sure we can catch him and turn him into compost for the Old Gods. That would be fun

That's what I said :V

Pretty sure it's a play in words. It's the mysterious Oriental Sorcerer in Lieu of the Dragon one.

The vote also asks how we reply to the rumor about Hermetia. I say we tell the truth!

[X] Tell the tale of Ser Waymar, the Virtuous.
-[X] Spin the tale of the Westerosi knight in the service of the Dragon King who rescues maidens while fighting monsters (Summarize the play we have commisioned for Waymar in Braavos). Hermetia was one of those.

Not so much, it asks about how you want to go about conquering Lys.

Should we ask Jarlar to assist us in giving reason to invade rather than hampering it like he has been doing?

[X] Confirm his suspicion that we want a palace coup, but not quite how he thinks.
-[X] The game plan is to have Aedon "discover" (read: we send him a picture book) that the Spicers were behind the assassination attempt on him.
-[X] We will ensure that he takes out the spicers by staging a coup, then starts the invasion of the Disputed Lands.
-[X] Jarlar can assist Hermetia in gathering the loyalty of the more useful magisters.
-[X] Once the army is crushed, Hermetia will stage a second coup to take over Lys for us. His aid would be appreciated.
-[X] If he has political enemies, he can write us a list.
-[X] Confirm that his repeated competence is the reason he isn't on any of our lists anymore. He is too useful to kill.
