I suppose I find it concerning when you look at it from the lense of "long term, hard to notice effect caused by metal that is inherently fiendish/made with fiend's blood". I get the impression that the radiation-equivalent of the metal alloy, as designed, will not react to commonly used cure/heal spells and the like.

Kinda feels like a long-term trap, or preparing the field for harvest like the coins in Whiteharbor. But w/e. If you feel that holding a suspicious outlook with regard to fiend shit that we know the characters don't have a handle on, by dint of not understanding what process are going on or what the outputs of said processes do is fearmongering, to the point where it's not worth it to outsource a study into the matter, (before we make the tree, so that there are not hold-ups in our VS production, naturally) that's fair enough.
While I understand your concerns, I also trust Naria in both her loyalty and her research capabilities to have noticed and told us if there were any detrimental long term effects, hence why I'm not worried about this. Besides, if simply being near Valyrian Steel was cause for bad effects, we should be looking at a long history of bad endings for Westerosi houses with their own Valyrian Steel weapons... except that there's been nothing of the sort.
Not really. He is just enjoying having flesh an blood these days.
Fair. @DragonParadox, can he start getting XP towards it when he goes off to the Plane of Fire in a few months and starts fighting Efreeti?

Do we want to try resurrecting anyone in this caravan, or do we just want them to find peace? Because if we want any of them for minions, we will have to harvest their souls before we break the curse.

*Headdesk*

My read is "Oh, yeah, this fiend-thing (which is what VS is) is doing something I do not understand" Yours appears to be "This fiend-thing was checked over, and while there is an oddiy that I don't get, I've seen no detrimental effects in various situations over the... 2/3 weeks I've been studying it"

But you know what, I've been operating under two assumptions here a) devils are sneaky and have multiple plans running at once, so that failure or success it aids their other plans in some fash-Nope, nope. I have shared my perspective, and will not try to convince people any further on this.

I'll just, see where this goes, if it crops up again in the future. Hopefully, it's just me doing the devil's work for 'em ;)

Lmao, like this'll get party time. Pull the other one. A further study into the effects of the magical process that happens, constantly, in VS is gonna be outsourced or nothing.

Also, aggravatingly, your statement only works if a) funds are a problem so we can not buy/commission items and pay for this, b) any and all mages we could tap for this project would instead be available for crafting. I just don't see that being the case, where all high level researchers are crafters.
I was actually thinking about letting the Scholarium research VS in depth. There are still many unknowns about it, but you don't need high-level researchers for stuff as basic as observing basic material properties.

I would generally like to have the SD Scholarium focus on material science and industrial / military applications.

Mine read is also "Over the millennia that Westerosi have had their own Valyrian Steel weapons, there have been no patterns to suggest that there's any sort of detrimental effect to close proximity."

If it was just the 2-3 weeks of study then I'd also be leery, but we have thousands of years of records to look back on.

What do you want to do with a ley-line highway anyway? It might end up getting sentient and demand equal rights to rubber tires, felt horseshoes, and soft sandals.

Using it as a power network and to boost the range of spells to affect the whole Imperium.

Wouldn't you like a ritual of Detect Demon that gives a full accounting of every Abyss spawn within our borders?

@DragonParadox, does Amrelath have interest in getting levels in sorcery in the few months he's staying with us in Prime Material?

Not really. He is just enjoying having flesh an blood these days.
Between his choice of feats and desire to live and enjoy life I wonder if Barbarian is an option for him.

It would fit, would improve his murderblending and later he could go for Bloodscaled Fury.

I would rather be able to detect all devils, they are much better than demons at hiding.
Just a random example. How about blasting a Cerulean Sign at CL: Yes over the whole continent? Or maybe Plant Growth though a network in the Red Waste?

There are plenty of fancy things we could try with a self-made ley-line-network.

  • [X] Convince them that you can aid their journey by a blessing that makes them swifter then the wind. Let the casters ape a ritual, then cast Magic Army at the whole caravan so that they have physical evidence of magic at work. Tell them that they can reach Mantarys by nightfall with this.

Seems pretty settled. Dunno what's up with people not voting, despite plenty of them posting following the latest update.
I kind of want to revive some of them, but aside from the boy I'm not sure who, and I'm not good at formulating a vote, so I'm kind of just waiting for someone to make a vote for that I can back.

We can't Rezz them because they are dead for too long.
We can't un-undead them because that takes research and we want results before entering Lyceon.
So no chance of that now.
