Seriously, a Shadow Creature is serious business. Fast Healing and DR 5/magic make for wonderful tank. +2 bonus on saves is pretty neat too.

Fear makes it great at disabling targets, and Mirror images are always neat to have.

[X] Plan Getting On With It
-[X] Thank the Necromancer for tea and crumpets. You will be on your way then.
-[X] Have some small-talk with the High Priest about his faith and it's relation to other beliefs, like the Old Gods or Burny. Then talk with Meraxas directly about the vision you had about the meeting of the 14 and their plans.

It's almost as if peoples endless greed made them visit the necromancer and right when they stood before him, they noticed how terrible an idea that was.

Shame nobody told them that ahead of time.
I literally just wanted him to study our Necromantic lore in exchange for sharing the results with us. It's just lying around gathering dust.

I have no idea why people are suddenly getting paranoid and avoid sharing the knowledge that was the whole point of this.

[X] Plan Simple
-[X] Offer him unrestricted access to your library, especially the Necromancy-related parts of it, including the writings of Wylla and Amrelath
--[X] In exchange he shares any insights gained from that lore, as well as magic derived from it
-[X] First Spear of Meraxes
--[X] Politely ask if you could speak with his lady directly, for you had much you wished to converse with her on.

It's disingenuous and, frankly, a complete waste of time since we now need a minimum of two updates for this.
Well, there are people who want necromancer working for us.
And, indeed, dealing with him will take time.

Difference is, again, is that by taking original vote, the need to vote after this goes away.

All actions will be done by Viserys in the background, instead of those (few) who want necromancer on a payroll having to push for yet more updates spent on getting him on board.
And we will, as much I am sorry to say that.

Main vote right now, is still dealing with Meraxes.
And lo and behold, that isn't changed, we want to talk with goddess, not priest who doesn't know shit.

To all the munchkins: don't you want the Shadow Creature Template on our Inquisition War Dogs, for example? It increases movement speed by 50%. It gives wonderful abilities, and we can even choose from them!

[X] Artemis1992

You know, what's the worst that could happen?

Yes, I'm saying that ironically. I'm not even Pro-Chaos, I just like to be contrary.

It's not "suddenly" at all. People didn't want to talk to him for various reason. Lack of trust. Potential PR troubles. No interest in his works. Pick one reason.

But someone got pestered into setting up this meeting and now it looks as if we want this, but half the thread never wanted this meeting at all.

@Artemis1992 you aren't greedy enough. Our entire Necromancy resources is a lot! And just the insights aren't great: actually having studied the contents is important too.
Ask him for insights, but also rituals and shadow secrets and whatnot.

That's a bit too flippant. We need to have a reason to justify our visit to the Necromancer. Asking him to be a guest lecturer at the Scholarium, offering to sale him the head cage thingy which forces Undead to talk, etc., something.

I want Shadow Template people!
There is a piece of gear (Umbral collar) that grants it when worn. His knowledge could be key to making it!

Honestly, if so many people here have problems with trusting this guy - okay.

Just have him be a teacher in scholarum for having access to some of our dead-related artifacts, weird shadow, and gold.

No sketchy research, no dealing with Amrelath, just set him to be a teacher.

Then, i'll vote for that.

[] Same Deal as the last time
-[] We have acquired a number of creatures and items of power that are related to the field of necromancy, and which we do not have the time to personally study.
-] We would like him to study them, and share his results with us.
-[] To offset the time he would be taking away from his own projects, we have a acquired a large collection of arcane lore. Some of which we may be willing to share.
-[] Consider offering him a job in the future if this goes well and does not backfire

[] Inquire as to the state of the temple following the invasion.
-[] With the high priest.
--[] Express interest in helping the temple in the future. Hint subtly, or not so subtly at what he might be willing to provide in exchange for "help".
-[] With Meraxes.
--[]talk with Meraxas directly about the vision you had about the meeting of the 14 and their plans.

Adjusted to include Azels vote about Meraxes.

I wrote that meeting in, Duesal copied the part.
Nobody complained.

Added any magic derived from our lore.

@Tomcost
I'm willing to let him keep his current trade-secrets, for now.
He can keep them until he eventually joins the Scholarium, either with Volantis or before.

No, we don't need a reason.

This is disingenuous bullshit and I'm tired of it. I'm not supporting this sneak-in shit that keeps happening any longer.

We argued about meeting him in the past when setting up the coup with Zherys. We even voted on it. And talking with the Necromancer lost.

Now it was snuck back in amidst a larger vote, completely bypassing most players and not giving them a chance to argue against it again.

Why do you think people didn't want to decide the Dryads fate as part of the turn-vote? Because it would cheat others out if their chance to make their case properly.

Agreed. The necromancer needs to be its own vote so we can handle it properly. As does the temple of Meraxes.

Both of these are contentious enough that we need to be able to have a clear discussion about them.

Also no. Voting to waffle is not dealing with Meraxes. Its voting to waffle.

Edit: I want the necromancer for Research, and for teaching.

What we can go about doing to make him trustworthy should be a part of that vote.

... I definitely can't understand fey logic. At all.
Not sure what's the problem?
"Gimme all your secrets" is a bad start for a deal and I don't care about mildly enhancing some guarddogs while we have Iron Golems standing before the tower.
So I'm leaving it out in the assumption that we'll get it eventually anyway and there's no pressing need to act now.

What.

Players don't trust him.
DP said Viserys doesn't trust him IC.

So the solution is to give him full access to the Shadow Tower and our mages by making him part of the faculty?

See my above post. Contentious topic was missed by most due to being included in the middle of a larger matter.

It was never discussed at all, so trying to force people to make some kind of deal here just because of that is ridiculous.

I didn't care about coming to see the Necromancer, either, but that is not the point. We visited him, so we need to have some IC justification to have done so, not just an "oh, we were in town and thought we would stop by for tea and snacks, how has has the grave-robbing been lately?".

As for the Dryad in the turn vote. As soon as someone mentioned it, I altered the plan and explicitly made it to require a separate vote. There was no attempt to hide anything.
