Are we making use of one of our many, many other divination spoofing methods?
Are we making use of one of our many, many other divination spoofing methods?
I literally just wanted him to study our Necromantic lore in exchange for sharing the results with us. It's just lying around gathering dust. It's almost as if peoples endless greed made them visit the necromancer and right when they stood before him, they noticed how terrible an idea that was.
Shame nobody told them that ahead of time.
Well, there are people who want necromancer working for us.It's disingenuous and, frankly, a complete waste of time since we now need a minimum of two updates for this.
we can ask him that once he is working for usTo all the munchkins: don't you want the Shadow Creature Template on our Inquisition War Dogs, for example? It increases movement speed by 50%. It gives wonderful abilities, and we can even choose from them!
It's not "suddenly" at all. People didn't want to talk to him for various reason. Lack of trust. Potential PR troubles. No interest in his works. Pick one reason.I literally just wanted him to study our Necromantic lore in exchange for sharing the results with us. It's just lying around gathering dust.
I have no idea why people are suddenly getting paranoid and avoid sharing the knowledge that was the whole point of this.
[X] Plan Simple
-[X] Offer him unrestricted access to your library, especially the Necromancy-related parts of it, including the writings of Wylla and Amrelath
--[X] In exchange he shares any insights gained from that lore
-[X] First Spear of Meraxes
--[X] Politely ask if you could speak with his lady directly, for you had much you wished to converse with her on.
That's a bit too flippant. We need to have a reason to justify our visit to the Necromancer. Asking him to be a guest lecturer at the Scholarium, offering to sale him the head cage thingy which forces Undead to talk, etc., something.[X] Plan Getting On With It
-[X] Thank the Necromancer for tea and crumpets. You will be on your way then.
-[X] Have some small-talk with the High Priest about his faith and it's relation to other beliefs, like the Old Gods or Burny. Then talk with Meraxas directly about the vision you had about the meeting of the 14 and their plans.
I wrote that meeting in, Duesal copied the part. But someone got pestered into setting up this meeting and now it looks as if we want this, but half the thread never wanted this meeting at all.
Added any magic derived from our lore.@Artemis1992 you aren't greedy enough. Our entire Necromancy resources is a lot! And just the insights aren't great: actually having studied the contents is important too.
Ask him for insights, but also rituals and shadow secrets and whatnot.
No, we don't need a reason. That's a bit too flippant. We need to have a reason to justify our visit to the Necromancer. Asking him to be a guest lecturer at the Scholarium, offering to sale him the head cage thingy which forces Undead to talk, etc., something.
@Tomcost
I'm willing to let him keep his current trade-secrets, for now.
He can keep them until he eventually joins the Scholarium, either with Volantis or before.
Not sure what's the problem?
What.Honestly, if so many people here have problems with trusting this guy - okay.
Just have him be a teacher in scholarum for having access to some of our dead-related artifacts, weird shadow, and gold.
No sketchy research, no dealing with Amrelath, just set him to be a teacher.
Then, i'll vote for that.
See my above post. Contentious topic was missed by most due to being included in the middle of a larger matter.I wrote that meeting in, Duesal copied the part.
Nobody complained.
I didn't care about coming to see the Necromancer, either, but that is not the point. We visited him, so we need to have some IC justification to have done so, not just an "oh, we were in town and thought we would stop by for tea and snacks, how has has the grave-robbing been lately?".No, we don't need a reason.
This is disingenuous bullshit and I'm tired of it. I'm not supporting this sneak-in shit that keeps happening any longer.
We argued about meeting him in the past when setting up the coup with Zherys. We even voted on it. And talking with the Necromancer lost.
Now it was snuck back in amidst a larger vote, completely bypassing most players and not giving them a chance to argue against it again.
Why do you think people didn't want to decide the Dryads fate as part of the turn-vote? Because it would cheat others out if their chance to make their case properly.
