Because you have to be able to make a connection. On the other hand yes Soft Striider could do it, but isn't she going North?

She's not scheduled to. We had a vote a few days ago that updated the timing for the Beyond the Wall action. Maelor, Bronn, Argo, Mercy, and Xor will be making that trip on the 19th.

@DragonParadox, since Soft Strider is currently available regardless of whether or not she tags along for the trip Beyond the Wall, wouldn't that only take a few hours of Alysande's questions instead of an entire two days to establish a connection with Bloodraven?

It will take two days since Alysande has not even dream-walked before never mind trying to talk to the Last Greenser though the roots of Heart Trees.

[X] Offer to set any worries at ease yourself.
-[X] If that isn't enough, briefly return to Sorcerer's Deep and request Soft Strider's aide. Perhaps one of the fabled Children of the Forest will placate the Silver Eye.
--[X] And if that does not set their minds at ease, ask Soft Strider to help Alysane commune with Bloodraven. Dany is welcome to help, too, if she has the time and feels like it.

What I meant was instead of wasting our time dreamwalking, just have her talk to Soft Strider in person which should take a few hours at most unless Alysande drums up a list of questions to rival the one I wrote up for Bloodraven.

Also, this is the latest vote for the Beyond the Wall trip.
[X] Plan Frozen Steel
-[X] Send aid to Dorne
--[X] Vee, Richard, Teana, Kira, and Aradia.
-[X] Finalize roster of adventures scheduled to participate in the "Beyond the Wall" action on the 19th. Make the following additional preparations for them before they depart.
--[X] Maelor, Bronn, Argo, Xor, and Mercy.
It's the listed members as well as a Night's Watch veteran to serve as a guide and a translator.

If necessary we could switch out Argo with Soft Strider which could admittedly help a lot with diplomacy.

The image of Viserys interacting with Fudge does have a certain appeal...
I want to see him and Hagrid meet!

No, it would be 4th year. Viserys in Red Dragon form would have been taking a nap in a nice mountain lair while trying to figure out how the hell to get back to Planetos, when the next thing he knows, he wakes up in an arena full of snot-nosed children, laying on a pile of odd-looking eggs. Hilarity ensues.
Ooh, that's great. The most halfhearted fight ever, until he realises that this is the craziest ever case of child endangerment and (worse) dragon-egg endangerment.

She propably wants info straight from the source.

This way she can hear the OGs themselves while Bloodraven gives a comprehensive explanation of their thoughts.
Seems better than just talking to mortals.

DP already confirmed that Soft Strider is perfectly capable of handling this.

Plan updated slightly.

[X] Offer to set any worries at ease yourself after we take the time to learn everything from Alysande in which we are interested.

This is also fine. Either way we don't have to waste our own time.

Yes, my vote is to have Soft Strider handle the connection.

Why settle for lesser explanations, not like it hurts us if Alysande spends some time on this?
Because I have lots of information I want to get out of Alysande and I'm not eager to get sidetracked almost immediately after meeting her. If we can put her worries to rest in a few hours then move onto other things that's my best case scenario.

She does not have context for what a Child of the Forest is and neither does anyone else in Braavos, so Soft Strider's answers would not have any particular weight to them.

Does anyone think that bringing her to the philosopher's tree and juicing her up on buffs and blood wished-imbued-divine insight might be worth it? Time wise, it might be quicker to bring her to SD than to bring Soft Strider here

That seems very odd. There's only a tiny sea between Braavos and Westeros (and quite a bit of trade between them as well), and the Children of the Forest are an extremely widespread tale. It's even odder when you consider how legends and folklore would be scrutinized with the awakening of magic. @DragonParadox, if people in Essos can know about the Wall then they can also know about the Children, even if only vaguely.

Doesn't matter if Soft Strider's word has any weight with Alysane or not. She can still spend the next two days helping her commune with Bloodraven.

Otherwise, screw the Silver Eye and helping them out. I'm not willing to waste two days on them.

@Goldfish, would you mind adding a clause that says Alysande can try to commune after we interrogate her?

The Children of the Forest are nursery tales in most of the North, particularly in white harbor which has the most contact with the outside world. By contrast the Wall is a giant impossible feat of engineering people can look at with their own eyes.

We could just ask her to take it as given that they are on the up and up, proceed in our dealings as if she had done her due diligence, then she can chat with Best!Uncle in her own time - she can trust us and our judgement long enough to organise things, and set stuff in place, and then commune on her own time and verify.

Unrelated: Would like +5 spellcraft items created for Viserys in rituals. Or +10

[X] Goldfish

I would very much like to see what spells Alysande has available, and what she would like to learn from us.

Teleport. I'm talking about teleport. I hope she's fifth level, she sounds like she's been improving further.
