So... With rereading the plans for the Spellguard and how we would like to knight Waymar...
Think we could arm the others with Rings of Arming and pull off something like this?

Guys, GUYS!

The spell Atonement – Spell – D&D Tools was made for a reason. It's not a get out of jail free card, but if you get into some kind of inexcapable moral dilemma you can get back on the good graces of your gods without being a martyr.

DP really hates that spell. Or the concept behind how it works.

@TotallyNotEvil - can you add in "My friend" at some point. Or are we confident he's not gonna go all dour and stuff?
"For breaking that lich that ripped off your arm like kindling" "
"For helping to bring peace to the tortured landwarden of Lys." (I think he did that. Was he there)?
"For helping me make brighter choices."

Also, Invisibilty on the griffen(s) (Tyene has it)? And this is a big thing - would it be reasonable to surprise waymar with a fair amount of the party?

Looks good to me.

Also, but I was rereading and got confused by this line

Caught in the Gears

Second Day of the Twelfth Month 292 AC

...

The mage shook her head and kept her eyes on the path. She still remembered loosing Goldenmane, her mare since girlhood to a wide-eyed fanatic who had been willing to sell his life for hers. The man had been so lost to his own delusions that she could not even know if it had been merely some already cracked mind moved by one too many fiery sermons... or if something more sinister had driven him. The leering face of the assassin devil pressed itself into her mind... There were more of them out there, more than spying imps and a handful of reavers that had been butchering smallfolk, but lord Lannister was too content with having 'taught them to fear House Lannister,' fear him in truth. Even Gerion had not been able to...

...

I know DragonParadox clarified that the Lannisters were having Devil issues which culminated in an assasin devil holding Lana's newborn twins hostage. But I somehow missed that bolded line first time through. Did Tywin summon a bunch of reaver devils to butcher some uppity peasants? Since holy fucking shit if true. Whether he did it before or after said assasin devil incident doesnt really make it any better.

Edit: To add on, I'm not sure I can ever really use "there's no kill like overkill," ever again since doing gods-know what to summon CR8 devils to kill, at best, sub level 3 commoners and experts is at best stupidly shortsighted amounts of overkill

Oh wow. I forgot about that. I can't remember anything about it, but I remember loving it. And I may have had a crush on the fire dude. Or thinking he was the coolest, or something...

  • [X] Plan Knight TNE
-[X] As is proper, you start by recognizing his deeds and valor.
--[X] For outstanding bravery in battle, for rising above and beyond the call of duty. For slaying a Cambion Demon with its own blade while at the tender age of thirteen, for putting to rest a specter with your own hands, for your participation in the assault of an underwater fortress filled with unholy creatures, for your participation in the defense of Cracklaw Point, for your aid in battling a mighty Mallor when but a neophyte, for your slaying of a Fire Giant, and last but certainly not least, for the outright smiting of the Dark Genie known as the Nameless One, Terror of the Inner Planes, and freeing Princess Embra from its curse.
--[X] For through it all, acting with honor and dignity, holding fast to noble principles. For that and more, you've earned the right to be a Knight.
-[X] So answer me, Waymar of House Royce, do you swear before the eyes of gods and men to defend those who cannot defend themselves, to protect all who need protecting, to obey your captains, your liege lord, and your king, to fight bravely when needed and do such other tasks as are laid upon you, however hard or humble or dangerous they may be?
-[X] And so, I hereby dub thee Ser Waymar Royce.
-[X] *Viserys proffers him the Ring, which activates as he rises* Rise now, a Knight of the Realm.
-[X] After the congratulations are done, do mention how a Knight requires a noble steed, and whistle for Cloud, whom you have waiting nearby, wearing resplendent mithral plate barding.
    [X] Nope
[X] Under the bows of a gods wood if available. If not then a suitably dramatic clearing or glade. Perhaps using the lay of the land staff to find a suitable location.
-[X] Waymar will kneel before you. Then say as such.
-[X] "Waymar Royce. You have served me faithfully for many years. Defending my family, my kingdom, and my person from man and horror alike. You have proven your skill, your bravery, and your honor time and time again. In the face of fiends, the walking dead, monstrous creatures, and the subtler evils of men you have been steadfast. You have never shyed from duty or obedience however onerous. Nor have you abused your skill, power, and authority. Thou hast upheld every ideal and tenement of knighthood since you came into my service. It is my honor to give it to you in truth."
-[X] "Waymar of house Royce, do you swear before the eyes of gods and men to defend those who cannot defend themselves? To protect all without prejudice? To obey your captains, your liege lord, and your king? To fight bravely against the Darkness and do such other tasks as are needful? However hard, or humble, or dangerous they may be?"
-[X] "I, -Insert name-, Swear by my name and power to honor my king, by my magic i will guard the realm against those that would destroy it, by my honor I would protect the innocent and judge the guilty, with my strength I will pursue my foes and chase my goal, by my wisdom I will heed the orders of those above me, by this oath I am now and until I am released from it a Knight, and my life is the realm's."
    -[X] "Rise Ser Waymar Royce."

It's okay @egoo. If you fall asleep during a vote, you only have yourself to blame if it gets capsized not even twenty minutes later after standing watch all morning before nodding off.

Just ask @Goldfish.

Oh, sweet. The Lannisters made themselves sacrifice fodder already.

He as broken by it, wasn't he?

He never managed to properly fight it, and Viserys, Dany and Malarys managed it afterwards.

Well, it ripped his arm off, and set it to attack him, and then he cleaved through it's physical form. It was freaking badass.

And wow, did I misremember it. Chapter:
A Sword Without a Hilt: A Song of Ice and Fire/D&D 3.5 Crossover | Page 4996

Oh! Taking the docks at Sorcerer'' deep and the defeat of Damphair. So much more. :D

So if the Lannisters are employing Imp spies and sending Reavers to butcher smallfolk, that all but confirms our suspicion that the magical order they founded "fought off" a bunch of devils and "saved" helpless smallfolk in a scheme engineered by them solely for PR. I'm impressed.

I really hope the Westerosi adventurers don't beat us to dealing with them.

Yeah...the text seems to literally say

1) There were reaver devils killing Westerland smallfolk
2) This was intentional/not a concern on Tywin's part since it taught the peasants to fear him even more

The only interpretation that would involve Tywin NOT being involved in summoning the devils himself would be one where he's cool with an unplanned/unknown devil incursion into his lands which would be kinda fucking stupid of him so the only reasonable conclusion I can draw is that Tywin was totally complicit in summoning devils to use as terror agents against his own people...

...Again the nicest thing I can say about this is thanks Tywin for proving there is such a thing as overkill. CR8 devils against Commoners and Experts, maybe some low level Warriors at best...Holy christ on a crapstick.

I didn't make an unholy pact, so when I sleep, I just wake up having missed all of the discussion inbetween the last one for the day.
