@Artemis1992 @Goldfish do you guys have any ideas for a PrC for Teana? Maybe a super small four or five level PrC? I was thinking something Shadow or illusion-based.

It's going to be super hard and frustrating, but we'll drag her all the way to level 13 at least.

Also, whomever brought it up is mostly right.

Maelor should have:
EB: 5d6
Bab: +6/+1
Fort: +2
Ref: +2
Will: +10

As baseline.
Well, yes, these were exactly my corrections.

BTW, there was a short discussion about maps for encounters not a long ago. While drawing them by hand is too much work, what about simple online editors? Like Dungeon Painter or similar? You can probably make a rough layout in 5 minutes or less. @DragonParadox

Now that we are on a bandwagon, here's a little PrC I made with the help of Goldfish and TotallyNotEvil.
@DragonParadox
There's still some discussion about the balance going on and the idea to throw in some more bonus illusion-spells to justify the caster-level dip better is considered, so I'd like to hear your opinion on that.

Of course on the class and theme in general too.

Shadeweaver

Most Shadeweavers begin their careers as tricksters, mummers or illusionists, for they understand best how easy it can be to make unreal things look, sound and even feel real to others. In their studies of arcane magic such people can discover that many spells they can't cast, some they barely know off, can be replaced by simple illusions, allowing them to use figments where others need far greater Evocations and Conjurations. The choice to delve into the art of weaving Shadows into illusions to make them even more realistic is a natural progression of this knowledge. Most beginning Shadeweavers are surprised to see that a side effect of this study is their ability to manipulate a bit of pure shadow without channeling it through illusions.
Requirements

Spellcasting: Able to spontaneously cast 3rd-level arcane spells
Feat: Spellfocus (Illusion)
Spells: Must know at least one spell with the (Shadow) descriptor
Hit die

d4
Skill points

2 + Int

Classfeatures:

Spellcasting:
At each level exept the tenth, you gain new spells per day and an increase in caster level (and spells known, if applicable) as if you had also gained a level in an arcane spellcasting class to which you belonged before adding the prestige class level. You do not, however, gain any other benefit a character of that class would have gained. If you had more than one arcane spellcasting class before becoming a Shadeweaver, you must decide to which class to add each level for the purpose of determining spells per day, caster level, and spells known.

Mysteries: You gain a limited amount of Shadowcasting abilities while progressing through this class. On the first and every even level of this class you gain access to a single Mystery. You can choose an Apprentice Path at level one and gain its Mysteries until level 4 and then an Initiate Path on 6 to gain its Mysteries until level 10.
Your caster level and attribute is the same as the arcane casting that progresses with this class, all Mysteries are cast as arcane spells and you can use each of them once per day, or spend an arcane spell of the Mystery's level to cast it.

Mastery of Weaving: At the first level the Shadeweaver gets Solid Shadows as a bonus feat.

At the fifth level any use of Solid Shadows brings additional benefits as the Shadeweaver perfects her art of infusing her spells with the stuff of shadows. If used on Shadow Evocation she can freely choose the type of energy-damage the copied spell deals (from Fire, Cold, Electricity, Acid or Sonic). If used on Shadow Conjuration any summoned creature has +4 enhancement Bonus to STR and DEX and 60ft. Darkvision. If used on Shadow Enchantment it can now copy Fear-inducing spells of the Necromancy schools (such as Cause Fear or Rebuke).

At the ninth level the metamagic is automatically added to all spells with the Shadow descriptor and takes no level-adjustment or longer casting time anymore.

True Eye (Ex): The Shadeweaver's own skill in deception allows her to percive trickery and lies with supernatural skill. She gains a bonus equal to half her classlevels as Shadeweaver against Illusion spells and adds half her Bluff skill (raw skillpoints, not modified by attribute or other boni) to her Sense Motive skill.
From the fourth level on she can always choose to look for Illusions as a Swift Action in her turn. This allows her to attempt a willsave against any Illusion in her sight, without needing to interact with it.

Final Trick (Su): At the 10th level the Shadeweaver's studies of the Shadowplane yield a final result, she infuses herself with a bit of pure Shadowstuff, giving her permanent Darkvision (60ft), Cold resistance 15 and the ability to cast a single Master-Path Mystery, chosen at the time she gains this feature, as Spell-like Ability once per day, or by using an equivalent spellslot.

It's not going to be quick, but if she takes a century to get to the end then so be it.

How about giving her Alternative Source spell next level through feat retraining, then having her take a level of Archivist and a few Mystic Theurge levels? Thing is that pretty much all existing PrCs based on illusion or shadow either make you lost too many spellcaster levels and/or are hell to get into.
I'd prefer to just keep her as a straight Sorcerer though.

I love it! :) ... but we need a Shadow teacher to open up mystery casting. :( Damn it. How are we going to do that?

We're going to keep dragging her to as many fights as we can. It's like fishing. We need to keep trying until something actually works. At least with Tyrosh she has no excuse to chicken out because she's our sworn vassal and even her magelings students will be fighting. But god damn, finding a teacher for her is going to be tough as hell.

This sounds a lot like torture. Seriously, it's skeevy.
What about her wishes? Hell, what about her goodwill? We poached her because she wanted to be a teacher and get more respect that in Volantis!
I'm all for dragging her up one more level so that she gets a level 5 spell (probably Teleport), because that's a gamechanger and is strategically useful. But dragging her up 5 more levels? :/

Edit: as you said, Tyrosh is okay. But bringing her monster-hunting or whatever seems like a bad idea.

I might try my hand at a five level PrC for Teana when I get home this evening.

Might plagiarize some of the one Artemis made for her a while back, too! :ninja:

No. The major roadblock is that Ymeri potentially has claim to her soul. Once that's cleared up she'll be fine. And of course we should be trying to get her to level up. She's a more effective teacher at higher levels. And she can always say no if she doesn't want to come to a fight—she has before, multiple times.

And yes, I'm getting impatient. I don't want to spend years IRL with her behind like four or five levels from everyone else.

Don't treat her like glass, she's capable of saying no on her own. If we don't even ask the only thing we achieve is slowing her growth when she might have said yes.

I can live with her just not being a PC and not leveling with decent speed.

The world needs mid-level characters who don't throw themselves into adventures too.

Can't be all peasants and experts on the one hand and high-level armykillers on the other.

Well if we demand she looks into Shadow bloodlined sorcerers as a monthly action maybe XP?

I mean am kindof disappointed in the rate which we gain even subpar casters. Meanwhile the Lannisters. They dont even have a supermagical tower drifting in its own lil bubble of extradimensional essence.

She achieves that on her own. She comes to like a tenth of the fights we ask her to come to. You'll get your wish automatically, she'll be leveling much, much slower than everyone else. In light of that I see no reason we shouldn't be looking for opportunities to bring her along.
