@Goldfish @Diomedon, DP just approved my request to give Dany extra days so she can study the dracolich's phylactery alongside Lya. Here's a proposed revision to the current plan. Three extra days spent by Dany on the Phylactery, Garin's Child moved down by one day but still at three days total. That's it. Nothing actually sacrificed, just Dany taking extra time out of her schedule because IC this is something she really wants to do.

  • [X] Viserys said it best: You can't claim these as the spoils of conquest, for these are no living men to tithe from. Nor can they be called salvage from an empty shell of a city when the restless dead are so easily startled and incensed by such disturbances. This is theft, just from that of a different perspective.
-[X] Acquire Tongues to speak with: "What would you have me do? Leave them here to be reacquired, by hook or crook, perhaps by my enemies, or that of mankind who I have surely, for now, driven from Sallosh-That-Was? Perhaps you will fight tooth and nail to prevent that, but still men serving as pawns of She of Many Colors and None will come again. This is a rising age of magic, and the ruins of Sarnor provide adequate target for temptation in the hearts of men besides that."
-[X] "Let us not take them as mere spoils, one of a hundred victories left unsung; It is said that a remnant of the Tall Men yet endures despite the depredations of the Dothraki Horse Lords. Indeed--I have come upon some of these wandering forlorn exiles in their time of need, protecting them from similar ilk. They seemed hopeful for what great deeds could be committed in these times despite the horrors of the past. Would you wish to haunt these sad ruins for another age, when it is one of such possible renewal? Or might you be laid to rest... perhaps for your people's living legacy to once again inhabit these hallowed walls once more?"
-[X] "Even if you would deny fervent hope, the living do not. Sarnor's sundered lands should not languish forever a tomb of the wakeful dead."
[X] What need have you of treasures? Move on or stay, no gold or jewels will help you in neither.
[X] Because this world, and all of its treasures, horrors, and trials belong to the living.
-[X] You and your people died a long time ago.
-[X] The indiscriminate rage, and boundless hunger of the unquiet dead is quite well known. The damage one wraith can do in a populated city should send shivers down any mortal spine.
-[X] Truthfully I was not certain the dead dwelling here would be sane or present enough to care.
-[X] If they were I was planning on sending them on to the next life. With words, blessings, or flames.
-[X] The forces of darkness will not let you lie when they could bend you, or take advantage of what your presence creates.

EDIT: I'm semi-hoping diplomacy fails, though.

Eh, it's not like he's some undead slaver from Astapor or Mereen, so no point to be all callous about it. He was some kinda high functionary in the City of Scholars, so to assume him to be a reasonable sort isn't out of the question.

Honestly, the undead are not all of the same outlook, else Jorel would be out for blood for no reason other than that he is undead. It is the same with Amrelath, I doubt he's suddenly gonna go on a rampage for no real reason.

Only in D&D will you find people holding discussions about the undead being perfectly reasonable in some instances...

Liquid Assets: 85176 Gold
Gained 3780 Gold in antiquities
We now have 88956 IM in our current liquid funds! :D

Total Loot for Expedition as a Whole:
Golden Company Recruits/Prisoners
Green Abishai Tropy
3780 IM from Sallosh
Life-Spark Gem
Babau Champion Enchanted Sword
Babau Champion Black Dragonscale Armor
Valyrian Steel and Fiendskin Armor
Cursed Valyrian Steel Sacrificial Dagger
Wizard's Ashes to be added to the Skull Collection
Wizard's Equipment (silver amulet in the shape of a star-burst, a pair of rings and a pair of golden gloves)
1 Iron Golem (with control token)
2 Iron Golem Archers (with control tokens)
24500 IM from Illyrio
Red Abishai Scale
Illyrio's Coded Documents
6 Wizard Spellbooks (spell level 0 to 2)
2 Wizard Spellbooks (spell level 0 to 3)
2 Wizard Spellbooks (spell level 0 to 4)

We are well within the range where each fetch quest nets us thens of thousands of IM in cash and arcane or other treasures. This is the second time in a row a fetch quest proved lucrative to the point of insanity--the last one being the successful trip to the Plane of Earth.

Just imagine how awesome Sothoryos is going to be with that in mind. :)

This victory was disappointing because it revealed how little we've really managed to put a dent in the Blackfyre conspiracy, but hilarious because of how humiliating it was for Tiamat.

She probably catches tons of breaks off screen, since she's a wily one, but whenever we enter the picture... things just don't seem to go her way.

The same Loremaster-amulet our ghost here has?

It's not that I think they are evil, they just seem too passive to be useful.
We'll have to put them to rest either way and using fire and steel seems more fun and profit and less wasted time.

Yes, her crossbreeding project was quite successful.

Since you guys do have a ritual to identify things. I'll just roll for identifying your loot and post the descriptions to the front page now, unless anyone has any objections o paying 20 Gold per item.

It allows us to salve our conscience and that of our companions. Acting callously when it might be perfectly easy to reach a peaceful resolution to something is a bad habit to form.

When people lash out at kindness, responding with violence earns fewer eye blinks.

The way I see it, this was a victory plain and simple. Sure Illyrio and the two mages got away, but they left quite a bit behind, their wizard is dead, and they lost their two most powerful clerics. And not only that, they've paved the way for us to utterly destroy the Golden Company soon. I want to do that before Sothoryos, actually, because I want Amrelath to fight with us. We need the big guns to counter so many drakes all at once.
The same Loremaster-amulet our ghost here has?
Almost, but not quite. It's the same style, that style being a starburst, but DP describes them differently. The wizard's amulet was just silver in the shape of a starbust. The undead loremaster's amulet is a gold chain with a sapphire in the center of the starburst.
Around its neck hangs a heavy golden chain adorned with a sapphire-studded starburst.
If anything we should be wondering how we can get our hands on this as well.

While we're in the area, could we possibly maybe explore Nefer a bit? I mentioned pretty consistently that I wanted to poke at Mossovy too. They have Demon Hunters. Demon Hunters, guys!

Maybe the Wizard had an initiate-amulet and the guy we are talking to was a leader of that order?

We're not in the area, Nefer and Mossovy are at least 500 miles and one giant mountain range away.

I was responding directly to @Duesal, @iggyfan, in regards to attacking the GC based in that area.

Wrong person!
No reason not to, honestly. By attacking the Golden Company and aiming to wipe them off the face of Prime Material, we also make an enemy of the people they're contracting under. This can't be helped, but yeah. To counter that, we're best served allying with all their enemies and sending aid to make sure this other Sorcerer King is kept too busy to properly retaliate.

Tsk, tsk... people should know better than to employ Blackfyres.

Maekar would be proud of us. :D

At the very least, this settles the debate what to do with Faegon once and for all.

He is Tiamats champion.
He is pet food.
