Shaitan are douchebags, though not as much as Marids, but they aren't generally inherently evil. They do, however, practice slavery with a pervasiveness that would give the masters in Slaver's Bay inadequacy issues. Helping them now wouldn't hurt, but deliberately not helping them would probably cause us issues, since they more likely than not have the equivalent of Good Samaritan/Bystander laws requiring others to aid them in these types of circumstances. Yeah, they're that kind of Lawful Neutral.
I say we ask our guide if he knows if the local Shaitan's practice slavery like you describe, I'm not exactly keen on helping slavers, so if what you describe about their slavery practices are true, then I don't really want to keep them alive.

I don't approve of helping slavers, so if it's almost assured they are such, then I think it would be better to just let the assholes die.

[x] Ask our Echo Caller to tell us what he knows about the Shaitan, do they practice slavery, what's the chance those Shaitan here practice and approve of slavery, generally ask whatever questions you can quickly ask, to figure out if the Shaitan deserves help.
-[x] If he thinks the Shaitan aren't so bad and deserve help.
-[X] While traveling toward the cavern at best possible speed, Viserys assumes MHD form and casts Shield and Mirror Image. Right before entering the cavern he uses his earring to gain True Seeing as a Swift Action, then casts Haste, Greater Blink (using two 4th level spell slots), and Freezing Glance.
--[X] Viserys opens battle with a Searing Agonizing Firebrand, targeting any Forgefiend he can see, carefully avoiding any surviving Shaitan, and the corpses of the fallen if possible, then uses Freezing Glance against the nearest enemy. He follows this with a Necrotic Bomb, again avoiding Shaitain, then casts Celerity, targets another Forgefiend with Freezing Glance, and uses Imperious Glare against any survivors.
--[X] Dany casts Streamers, sending both Streamers against the Forgefiend she believes poses the most danger to the beleaguered Shaitan.
--[X] Richard uses his amulet to gain 12 Temp HP as a Swift Action before entering the cavern. Once battle begins, he chooses a promising Forgefiend to engage, using Shock Trooper to Pounce on it, then Power Attacking as he sees fit.
--[X] Malarys casts as he sees fit, hopefully either targeting a single Forgefiend for destruction or attempting to impede all of them.
--[X] Echo Caller does as he sees fit.
---[x] If Echo Caller thinks the Shaitan are
assholes not worthy of help, then let the battle play out and kill the survivors.

Even if the shaitans are assholes... forgefiends are even worse aye?

[X] Goldfish

@ryuan nice thinking with the conceptual ash regeants, might give us a anti-fire immunity poison or a fire immunity potion. :p

Yeah Forgefiends are even worse assholes, but if we walked in on Devils killing Illithid's, then would we aid the Illithid's because Devil's are even eviler than Illithid's? Or would we wait until the Devil's had killed the Illithid's, and then kill the Devil's?

I see this in the same vein, Shaitan's are likely to be slavers, that mean neither side is good people, we might as well kill and loot both sides then.

Yet the Shaitan's thing is cultural, not inherently evil.

We didn't go around Tyrosh letting random people get robbed and killed on the street I guess

My reasoning is that:
1) Both of them are assholes so I don't care if either of them die, but...
2) The giants make much more impressive trophies
3) The Shaitan could potentially be trading partners if we save them

We didn't go around saving people from robberies either, but okay we can save them for now, if they turn out to be slavers, we can always kill them and conquer their cities, when we are strong enough.

  • [X] We will aid the Shaitan, as we are not in friendly territory and we have no way of knowing who tracks our progress through Divination magics.

    [X] Aid the Shaitans
-[X] Get back in MHD shape if you aren't already
-[X] Open with Searing Agonising Firebrand, followed by Celerity and Imperious Glare at all the metallic Monsters
