We might want to preempt them and just tell Tyene to tell Doran that this was a result of much effort and preparation that could not simply be repurposed, and our preparations for Elia continue apace.

@DragonParadox

Reminder of our intent to shape the festival to be less focused on murdering Damphair, if only just to deny the worm the full attention of a festival.

We'll get a vote on the nature of the celebration right? I'd imagine so seeing as we're paying for the bulk of it.

"You see see Mother, while yes there are some rumors floating about that I'm fond of making money, those are absolutely false. I'm not fond of it. I love it. I sometimes sneak away to nap on a justly earned pile of gold dragons."

Random Shocked Angel: What happend to the children of Bhamut!?

Amused Maelor: "Oh, Dread Sorcerer Viserys uses them as a nap-pile while Lya works on breaking the Stasis field.

Yes. I find it strange too."

You are aware that you want to talk to dornish people there, right? Because they will probably demand we do the same for Ellya right the fuck now.

And then we will have to give them the "Back the fuck off, or we'll forget that the only reason we tolerate you asshats is because of Tyene" speech.

Looks good.

And one of the things I love most about making money, besides the money part, is that it's something genuinely Viserys.

He comes up with the crazy schemes, the revolutionary ideas. He figured out how to game Yss knowing what would be sacrificed to him to make risk-free investments.

Anyone looks at his books will see at best vaguely familiar gibberish.

Lya's ability at commerce, for example, goes more or less like "I suppose people should pay with, uh, money? For stuff?".

But you stick her infront of an item or a bag of coin and she'll be able to tell you the value of that item or excatly what she can get for the value of the coins - her appraise skill is superhuman, backed by the greatest mortal mind of this new age.

Yeah, indirect messaging via Tyene is much more preferable. Not to mention he told us not to come back to Dorne itself until we were ready to resurrect Elia.

We weren't ever a thief. Not in the traditional pickpocket-sneak way. We were associated with one of those thieves' guilds, yes, but that was always at arm's distance and over soon.

We mostly solved problems.

And half of the reason for doing it was cover. No one would look for us there.

Quite sure we literally picked at least one pocket.

I think it was related to a money lending scam?

So something to think about. Our mother is kind-of an obvious weakspot for us now. Any plans on crafting things for her that keeps her safe? At the very least, she needs Protection Against Evil.

You know, that does make me wonder if our mom is a potential PC, or at least has the chance to learn pick up some magic. It's not like she has that many responsibilities after she settles in, and it might help her relate to us better. Hell, Dany's probably going to be spending a lot of free time with her and it's not implausible that she imparts something.

Either way, I look forward to more interactions with the Mother of Dragons.

As an important npc, dany can cast that ward that kicks in at half health, it's costly to keep for combatants, but it is permanent untill used or dispelled, so for non-fighting important people (Rhaella, Alinor, Hermetia, Ser Gerold (probably not, (also would like to switch two warrir levels to fighter.1/expert 1, or just gain an expert level)) lelia?)

Should have done this a while ago for alinor and hermetia.

You're talking about Stalwart Pact. I mentioned this a long while back for some of our people, but it didn't get a lot of traction because DP ruled we would have to use the Complete Divine version, which costs 250 XP per casting, rather than the Spell Compendium version which just costs 250 gold.

I think we can justify it for Rhaella, but at 250 XP a pop, everyone else is on their own.

I'm almost certain it was gold we payed, 50 (250/5) apiece when we used it against the mindflayer group near crackclaw before meeting lord Bryne.
I'd have to check.
(I'm looking forward to negotiating with the tritons with him, he's nice to talk to).

As far as I know, we've never used Stalwart Pact.

Hmm, let's have a quick look at things before I sleep.

You know...I'm not quite sure how I feel about landsliding every vote that I've taken interest in today >.>

  • [X] I Had To Change Too - Pt 1
-[X] "Within the City of Secrets, there are few ways for one to support a comfortable life that don't involve trade, mother. And my successes won acclaim and friendship that simple magic could not. Without those, much of what I've done in civilising the Stepstones would have been impossible." Reference to what we have, what she knows already. Impossible without the financial streams that Azel has painstakingly constructed.
-[X] "If I am to claim Westeros, it will take more than magic. It will take coin, in great measure, and I must be able to sustain that. Legions cannot march without arms." Speaking of the future, with certainty. As a Queen, she might have some understanding of the cost of raising or supporting a true army.
-[X] "Creations of magic do not come without price, either. Many of the items most precious to my company have been crafted by our own hands." The wonders we've forged, that she now knows are real. Make it clear that miracles aren't without physical cost.
-[X] "For all my heritage, I have never had the resources of a Kingdom of Westeros, and there is but one way to match them for one growing to adulthood in Essos." Said wrongly, this could be Guilt, but it's not designed that way. We worked within the limitations in front of us, as did our ancestors when they left Valyria behind, and have prospered for it.
-[X] "Yet now I find myself in the position of one soon to do so. The Iron Bank itself is a junior partner in my latest endeavour, and mine is a fleet of ships that fly the Dragon banner. A fleet I could not maintain without the coin that they bring flowing through my fingers. Relate the notion that you are, for all intents and purposes, approaching the status of a Merchant Prince as well as King of your own domain. This is already done, already known, and there is precious little that could ever be done to change it.
-[X] Once more, be gentle in your words. You fought with this opinion in your early days, after all, as you did with the complex figures of trade until at last you mastered them. Don't expect to change her mind here, but for an opinion to change you must first show why yours did before.
    [x] "...about that..."
-[x] Go into detail about how the Stepstones are now the home of one of the most potent raiding and trading fleets, and that it flies your banner.
-[x] Talk about the costs of magical reagents, and how what was once a way to afford such exotic materials has grown into a trading network capable of sustaining the stepstones, in addition to footing the bill of managing an entire cabal of sorcerors.
-[x] Who also answer to you, actually. Lya, the Archmage of Sorcerer's Deep, is capable of making objects that are worth entire small kingdoms. Everything someone wants can be sold for a price, and magical is capable of fulfilling many wishes.
-[x] As one of the most potent sorcerers of the new age, and with the resources you have at your disposal, you could probably conquer most of Westeros in a fortnight. The problem is not winning the war, it's keeping what you've claimed in the aftermath.
