Optimism has plenty of ways to make it into the faith as a result of quality of life improving, but we have to deal with the fact that most people we interact with will by default assume we're evil. The genetic engineering will get picked on yes, but it's also an obvious thing that we can argue about and is easier to push back on than accusations of subtle personality alteration. What gets me is that while there's multiple ways to encourage genetic manipulation, optimism is not likely to get a better shot in the arm than making it a founding doctrine. We don't need to take Weavers of Life to get genetic scientists and stuff going. Meanwhile, Weavers of Life is a massive target for anyone arguing against the cult's virtues: Genetic engineering as not just something we do but a founding cornerstone is something that's way easier to fearmonger against than far more less objectionable things like healing the sick or fighting against despair.
Right now, all our Life-Weaving is done by our deity-protagonist directly, and we've got a planet to convert. It'll be some time before we get serious infrastructure going, but Enlightenment of the Mind is far more likely to get us cookie-points when it comes to convincing the population to go our way instead of big-grumpy-Emperor's way. The general population of the planet's told to fear the heretic and the mutant, and Weavers of Life plays right into that established fear. But what's to fear from benevolent healing and optimism? We can munchkin for power later after we've convinced people we're worth joining first.
Provided it is still an option at that time.
You're underestimating the natural inclination to follow those in authority, and the general grimderp of the setting.Thinking about our inminent rebellion… At least the new PDF troops should be on our side, right? Barely out of training, they would have been utterly obliterated by the flayers. Luckily for them, our cute combat maidens destroyed the enemy before that could happen! Surely those soldiers won't dare to be ingrate bastards in our hour of need.
I dunno- even with rifles it's more effective than you might expect:Fortunately the PDF shouldn't be equipped with anything that can really hurt our flower knights should it come to a fight. This is an agri-world so at most they should have stubbers and maybe some autoguns/lasguns. No heavy weapons or vehicles/tanks etc.
And shooting trees with a gun doesn't tend to do a lot of damage.
Gauss weapons are an interesting oddity among weapons, in that structural strength means pretty much nothing to them. It's all about the number of molocules and atoms they have to flay away, and on that front even regular trees can actually be pretty good.Yeah, but our flower knights don't have normal tree durability. If they did, I feel like shots from Necron Gauss/Particle weapons wouldn't have been very survivable for the pilots.
Helps that the targets weren't moving. Also Alectai's WOG is that on paper at least, the Flower Knights are equivalent to (presumably armored) Space Marines. Combined with the mentioned regeneration the damage done is minimized (as long as they keep moving) and when they get into CWC, it's game over for the guard.Imagine twenty or thirty of those, firing full auto instead of single-shots.
By about 3 votes, yeah. It was close this time. Still, even if my preferred option lost I'm still forward to what weavers of life might bring!
vote closed alreaddy tho this is the wining vote[X] Weavers of Life: The Arts of the Biologis have always been the largely forgotten branch of man's sciences, but the Cult of Verdance has embraced this technique, and create wonders and terrors alike with organic materials given time and a need to work.
[X] Stand: You've a ripe opportunity to take over a whole world! After all, you and your followers saved it in the first place. You're going to need to subvert the Governor's power though--and deal with the response that comes when you rise up in inevitable rebellion. But you'll have time, space, and manpower eventually provided your cult's expansion continues apace.
[X] Harvest Power of Reaping and Ruin
Near as I can tell form a quick reread of the story posts, that's solely/mostly for everybody outside of our cult. The people actually in the cult know the real deal.I don't know if anyone has brought this up yet, but we're planning on dropping the 'Emps-sent spirit' thing as soon as we can do it without causing major issues, right?
