We Are the Gods of a New World Order [Warhammer 50K ~ Warp God Simulator]

Elevating Connections is not entirely safe, it takes us in a hive-mind direction.
It means that whenever we apply our divine power, we cause our cultists to coordinate through the Heartlink. This seems basically fine to me.

My main objection to it, actually, is that our Charity actions have tended not to include Connection as an Associated Domain, and:
On the other hand, actions that it does not apply to will have the Maiden crowbar it in somehow, which can have hilarious and sometimes tragic consequences.

Like, Imperial propaganda will feed itself. It doesn't need any real facts for that. Also "we must not ever do anything Imperium condems because that will feed their propaganda" is horrible position, 'cause, we already there.

It's not really about what the propagandists would consider evil, they can twist anything. I'm more considering the primal fears to people. And the fear of loss of identity of self is a very strong one for them to exploit.

A slight chance, but you dumping all your manpower into fighting pushed the risk factors onto your militant wing.

Which, yeah, no two ways about it, got shredded. Not beyond recovery, but...
Let's be real here, they were fighting Space Marines.

We're not an Exodite World, at least not yet, and for all their skills and special abilities they were still just human.

They gave as good as they could, but the fact that anyone is even alive is, ironically, something of a miracle.

As tempted as I am to go for Sun as a Domain, Plan: Peace, earth, and MAGIC seems like the best choice to ensure that we can both fortify and expand quickly.

I don't think it will turn are people into indentityless hivemind, thats would be wierd.

Obviously we are not going to do that, but the sort of collective thought Connections would encourage is the kind of thing to stoke those fears. Basically my position is 'safe sane and consensual hive minds are a wonderful thing' but the people who have had to deal with Tyranids and genestealer cults for millennia are going to have really significant reservations about the notion.

Elysium, Earth and Sorcery got my vote personally. If we must elevate one of our domain, why not Elysium if we take it? It would do the most good for our followers.

SPECIAL OFFER

From now until the formal start of Chapter 2, I'll be taking submissions for your Lesser Daemon variety. I have a default in mind but others might come up with something even more interesting.

The following criteria must be followed.

A) The daemon must be superficially humanoid, but not necessary a human (Bipedal with a recognizable face).
B) The Daemon must embody at least three of your Domains--you may include the one you're definitely picking up as this.
Hmmm. I did a thing:

Lesser Daemon - Hound of the Maiden

Associated Domains: Connection, Endurance, Harvest

Description:
Hounds of the Maiden are telepathic doglike beings with thick hide and dexterous forepaws. Predominantly quadrupedal, they can with some effort assume bipedal posture. Hounds of the Maiden are capable of generating a Life-Link between themselves and the Maiden's Faithful, and can use it to sense presence of living minds in short range. They are exceptionally hard to put down, and can be found on battlefields, or in sites of scavenging. Not focused on combat, but on gathering the wounded, or on assisting with hunting/foraging.

Not frontline combatants for all they can fulfill the role in a pinch.

"Because we're not people--even if we can do a good job of pretending otherwise. We're stories--and a story that gets told the same way over and over again is a dead one, even if the body is still moving."
Keep this in mind when it comes to the extremely powerful trait that applies a domain to everything, whether appropriate or not.
Its not going to go there right away, but its taking steps towards that path.

Such steps have a tendency to create circumstances where we have to take more of them for the necessary power to survive the consequences of the previous step, OR to refrain from intervention when we cannot intervene positively.

Hey, VM is a person. :(

A story warp person, but still a person. Free will and agency, after all.

Honestly, if I wanted to elevate any particular domain it would be sorcery. Since that's the least difficult to apply to anything.

I absolutely want Elysium.
And while I would love to elevate Connection or Harvest domains or take a chance at gacha to get Artifice or Love, I fear that we cannot risk it right now. Earth was discussed at length as something we need to leverage our advantages properly and we are big enough that sorcery would be extremely useful. (Even if I would love to have Sun as well)

...I've was left speechless for quite the while after reading that last update. While the loss of life was still somewhat bittersweet, the fact that our cultists stood against the Space Marines who were wavering against their indoctornation, clashed against them to protect those who needed protecting and tried their best stem the tide of lost lives? And that final confontration, where Dana won the day along with the Verdant Maiden, through buying a moment through a show of force, but then winning with empathy, words and reason? That was just sublime.

On the actual vote, I'm all in for Elysium. There is no way I wouldn't want it after what happened in the narrative just now. Luckily, we don't need to cripple ourselves in other areas if we take Expansion, which I like much more than the Elevation. Though I admit that the Transcendence -gacha is tempting, I think we should finish building the basics of our toolsets, so that we can get our infrasctructure up and running with Earth and Sorcery, like many others have already suggested.

Anyway, I can't wait to see to how this quest will develop further from this. Because the ride this far has been already pretty crazy, and were are just getting started.

On another note:
I was extremely surprised that we were actually able to talk the space marines down.
The situation in the Imperium must be deteriorating worse than I thought.
The only explanation I have is, that nearly 10.000 years of mostly killing other humans rebelling for understandable reasons and rampant institutional corruption has put the Astartes near their breaking point.

...What in the Architect Maiden's name has happened to have resulted in Astartes are that willing to listen to us?

Though to play the Chaotic?(Imperial in this context?) advocate, maybe we just stumbled on a Salamader successor. Though that just brings up the question of when did the Salamanders started having official successors.

I'm actually hopeful we meet Solheart and his group again. They not the inflexible Space Marines many of us thought they would be, at least some of them are not. Solheart actually stopped for a moment, and allow himself to question this course of action, and actually leave after listening to us. He admits his doubts and admits his thoughts of the 'Imperium has strayed from it ideals' and that we 'speak some truth.'

What this would mean for the Azure Dragoons, and for Solheart's company...it not great, but we proven a little hope, and a little faith can go a long way.

Hopefully they escape the Imperium's wrath along enough for us to expand our Cult, as would our kin.

The Astartes are in a position where they usually get called in when all is almost lost right?
Somebody who, after attaining new power, would rather not fight and be left in peace is probably not something they've faced often. Usually its the people who're in positions of weakness to ask that.

Possibly around the time Rowboat Girlyman came back with his Primarus Marines. By the way @Alectai will we be seeing any of the Primarchs showing up, and what is the shape of Guilliman and his boys.
