Compact wealth is very useful as evidenced by our trip to Uzkulak.

I mean, why not.

Messing up with gods is VERY risky (as evidenced by our encounters with Stromfel, Mork and Gork). We pissed up enough of them already, let's not add the Moon to the gods we've aggravated. I don't think the Moon is gonna be as nice as Ranald about us poking at its divine stuff (and what else are we gonna do with the Shrine?).

Maybe we could ask Ice Witch, before messing directly with it? Kislev magical/priestly caste should be at least somewhat aware of Kul's faith.

Not right now ofc, back when we get to the caravan. Or later we could arrange some help from Kislev, we'll prolly walk away with a pretty solid relationship with Kislev after this whole gig.

Seriously though, I'm just... just in awe of how far Ranald went here. He went to bat against Khorne, quite probably the worst of the four to fight straight up, and especially for Ranald. Even better, he basically drew too, 2-to-2. Just... he really does care for Mathilde, doesn't he? I can only imagine how the Kislev gods felt seeing him on the battlefield.

I may be mistaken, but I do believe in the course of the quest Mathilde has only lost her shit in anger twice. Once was after Abelhelm died and she forced the Army of Stirland to continue upon threat of Death By Grey Wizard. The other was after the Watch tore down her efforts to introduce Ranald worship into their organization.

So it'd be interesting to see how Mathilde would react to someone blatantly shit talking Ranald to her face. :\

Mathilde was definitely part of the reason, but based on his prior reaction getting in good with the Gods of Kislev also seemed a significant motivating factor.

We can just study it, to get an idea of what exactly the Kurgans are worshipping when they direct their prayers to the nice moon. We don't need to do anything invasive or sacrilegious right off the bat.

Hell, step one will probably be to see if it bears any similarities to any religious paraphernalia of Southern gods, starting with Manaan.

@BoneyM, just to ensure clarity:

A Makeshift Sled is not able to survive shadowsteed speeds even if being pulled across a perfectly smooth Rite of Way?

Similarly, Kurgan Horses running on a RoW are still not sufficiently more speedy than Kurgan Horses on regular ground to allow escape?

Then, my attempt at a Creative Solution:

Could we use Throttling to 'strangle' a bunch of desirable items (or even just one extra item) then use the shadow tentacles to drag them behind us as we ride off cackling on our shadowhorse like some kind of deranged insubstantial kleptomaniac octopus?

An opportunity to finally get Ancient Widow off his case is prolly a solid motivator, too. She might be a regional god, but she is strong asf for one, while the rest of the pantheon seems to be facets of deities that are also worshipped in the Empire and beyond.

Happy with any of these that said I really want to get back to K8P and spent a turn or five just doing research and relaxing. Maybe spend some time making our shadow dagger manifestation a spell for our old master. Do something relaxing like making the K8P map or just research the waystone net. No more stress for a bit.

Didn't he say he was no longer accepting creative solutions?

I've closed the door to creative solutions, but for future reference, Throttling is living targets only and can't be used to pull someone around, just to throttle.

Non-magical stuff is boring, Chaos stuff is too risky. That leaves two options, which is good because we get exactly two.

The Karag Dum Expedition, Part 21
Victory. By the skin of our teeth, but victory.

Finally met one of our hard counters: Divine anti-magic.
Kragg will be annoyed. First enemy with magic buffs and equipment we test it against and his rune fails.

Heck even the regular dudes started to give Mathy trouble once they organised.

[Ljiljana vs Kul: Learning vs Martial, 74+???+???(Widow?)+???(Tor?)+???(Dazh?)+???(Ursun?)+30(Mathilde)=??? vs 99+20-10(Losses)=109.]
[Meanwhile, Ljiljana vs Kul 2: Learning vs Martial, 95+???+???(Widow?)+???(Tor?)+???(Dazh?)+???(Ursun?)+???(Ranald)=??? vs 2+20-30(Losses)=-8.]
Drama dice are dramatic.

Also, this is the second time on this expedition that Mathilde has jumped in to save someone only to end up needing rescue herself.
Also also, Mathy is worth +30 on a battlefield scale engagement.
Also also also, looks like Ranald squared his debt.

"Pizdets," Ljiljana says in her own voice, flexing her hands. "Zhizn' ebet meya, could have put a blade in, but no, had to use my fingers to break metal, astat'sya s nosam."
Yeah, channelling the power of gods tends to suck even if they aren't hostile to you. No concept of mortal fragility and an overabundance of drama.

Some of the magical weapons do not bear the taint of Dhar, though you don't know who made them or what they do. They could be very carefully collected for future study.

An icon that appears to be dedicated to the moon you know as Mannsleib. The Kurgan worshipping the Chaos Gods and the Winds is easy to understand, the sun and the moons, not so much. You can feel some sort of Divine energy at work here, but can't say much more than that unless you're able to get it somewhere quiet for further study.

Eavesdropping, interrogation, extremely carefully and highly vetted study done in partnership with an approved Cult, usually Sigmar or Verena.

So the cult of Ranald would not work here? He is technically approved.

That fight was way too close for comfort. Halfway through I actually scrolled to the end of the update just to see if there was a link to Boney's newest quest. That loot roll table was the nicest thing I've seen all day.

You are a stronger person than me. I looked right at the bottom and then actually read to see how e got there.

Well not only do we need to finish Mathilda's sword style we seriously need to learn or create some offensive damage dealing magic for us to use as well it is clear as day to me at least that our usual skill set won't always work.

It's the Cornflakes god. Offensive magic fizzles against him.

Well, that was hype as fuck. Off to bed with me, where hopefully I do not have a reprise of last night, where I dreamed that Boney threadbanned me because I blocked another poster here and it broke the tally somehow.

Say hi to the broody chickens and uncooperative horses for me.
