I don't know the symbol of the grey order is the sword of judgement. I'd still rather wait until we know more magic and have a masterwork that isn't something we really want to keep secret.

I think that trade or sheep for passive income are a thing but trade probably would help with our job? Sheep would be easiest to setup i imagine for passive income more or less and might only need like rare actions for upkeep? Trade would need like 2 or 3 to setup properly and would eat actions in the future.

Knighthood seems like a good idea aswell with maybe forcing our stewardship freind to take the trade guild boon or sheep if she isnt interested in extra massive work(she could get a acquaintance to do trade tough from her previous work)?

also since we learned or got enough info aboiut the shyish blades . What about soaking the pure magic instead of a wind to make the weapons ? Wouldnt that make the weapons pretty insane or enchanting doesnt work like that when we figure out things.

and people saying that we should keep the goo secret seems like a great idea especially since this sounds hilariously overpowered thing. Maybe trying to sell liquid to the elves if we ever meet tem and swear to secrecy(loremaster or whatever)?

will vote later i guess?

Magisters "Cannot manage business or own extensive property."

Huh.

Better not manage a trade guild we own then... :)
Here's the thing: if we get knighted, we're getting a separate legal entity to our name that can and is even expected to own considerable property, so we rightfully can say: Mathilde the Witch doesn't own anything, anything you can dig up is owned by Mathilde the Knight.

But isn't the demon snake, well, a demon? So, wouldn't that make researching it or its juices fall under studying the Forbidden Lore Of The Demonic Powers?
The Asp is not actually Chaos aligned. As far as available information goes, the Asp is something similar to the things we summon for Shadow Steed.

On the Alignment Table it's seems to be Neutral Hungry rather than Chaotic Evil. Probably not intelligent enough to be evil.
Hard to tell since the snake was just super unlucky.

So by that estimation we're ready to be taught more advanced spells, because we've been seasoned by our job, but definitely not ready to be tested for Magister because we hadn't even started studying the 'real' spells yet.

It would be expected that you know a few more 'proper' spells, but it's not mandatory - to put it in game terms, you'd get a malus to the roll for not having advanced in your number of Shadow spells known, but you could still roll the dice and possibly succeed. The tests are more about your understanding and mastery of Ulgu itself than a tally of how many distinct spells you know.

Without knowing (a lot) more, decanting the liquid into the swords is a bad idea... until and unless there is a way to stop the winds mixing, it will turn to Dhar (corrupting chaos magic, basically). That's why the bottled liquid is so wondrous- it's unmixed Qhaysh, (or something similar). The fuel for High Magic, as used only by the great Elven and Slann wizards. And we have a pure source, apparantly.

im just saying just soaking the enchantment in the liquid for it to absorb that instead of trying to soak them in ulgu like we planned i think? We have to add some things to make the enchantment work properly but my point is that a high magic sword instead of a wind sword seems like a massive upgrade and this is the first thought i have fir the liquid?

And we were also just handed our high school certificate years early and told 'good luck!' We're still younger than any other Journeyman ever.
Well, we have been at this for 3 years. We probably started as the youngest Journeyman ever, but by the time we're ready for Magister it'll probably be another year or two.
Yes. Which is why I'm proposing to take over the thieves guild to put that money to use for Van Hal. Reclaiming it from the underworld is a bad idea, since well..they lent us a hell of a lot of force.
What I mean is that your vote is talking about seizing 90% of assets from the League. That's true to an extent, but with only 60% of it going to Van Hal it seems like he'd ask a lot of questions about where the 30% went.

Age- yeah, seems QM is running it a little more loosely than Realm of Sorcery, which is very specific about no recorded Journeyman younger than late-twenties to early-thirties.

Incidentally, there seems to be a little bit of Discworldian "What? A Woman Wizard? With... smallclothes and.... and... we've only got one garderobe!" going on in the colleges. Female wizards are fairly rare. Possibly because peasants are more prone to burn females who show magical ability.

Seizing assets... good point. We should be more careful in the wording. 30% lost in the confusion. Yes.

Hey @BoneyM I just had a thought. Those swords we found in the burial mound are enchanted to constantly absorb the winds of magic around them right. they should be chaotic from the blending of the winds into dhar but they had only been in contact with Shyish, making them extremely volatile death swords instead of extremely volatile chaos swords. What if we learned that enchantment and stuck the resulting sword in to our rainbow juice to soak for a while. would that make a badass rainbow death sword or would it blow up in our faces

Hmm, main angles there:
-Mathilde isn't really competent at running a business beyond a household level. This means the sheep are probably okay, milk, meat and wool can't really go wrong, but the guild can very easily run a loss instead.

-Grey Wizards are not legally allowed to own property, as such, the Guild and Farm are both illegal. As the boon is public this can make things somewhat awkward(what with our fellow councilors probably going to report this to their backers) unless we can claim it as a part of the state intelligence apparatus. This is easier for the guild, but hard to excuse for the farm.

-Schrodinger's Snek only produces one vial of a magical curiosity per month. This is enough to make it valuable, but also too little to make it saleable, as anyone who wants it really finds it easier to take it.

-Concentrated magic does not react consistently, as is its nature. While jamming a clean magic absorbing item into a vat of rainbow magic liquid is interesting and should be tried out, enchanting is a much more complex and involved operation than dunking swords in magic juice. Thats how you get Dhar.
--I wonder what happens if an animal drinks it.
--I wonder what happens if you water a plant with it.
--I wonder if we can make lenses by sandwiching the magic juice between glass discs.
--I wonder how it reacts to metals.
--Will it blend?

That is easily tested: most clear glass bottles are already the lenses of sorts.

It won't run a loss in a year due to incredible starting benefits and we can find a manager in the meantime.

[X] [Public Report]: Nearly complete success in taking over the League. We have enough information to rebuild trading networks, enough prisoners to make examples or show mercy as desired. Even physical assets have been captured to 60%, with a further 30% lost to damage or scavengers.
-[X] It is unlikely the League would recover even if left alone from now on, under careful oversight (Like Wilhelmina's, especially if she sets up a Guild) it will be impossible.

Fixed version

Yeah, I stretched it a little bit because the age of starting an apprenticeship is listed as 'between the ages of ten and their early-to-mid twenties'. A twenty-year apprenticeship seemed a bit much.

What if we learned that enchantment and stuck the resulting sword in to our rainbow juice to soak for a while. would that make a badass rainbow death sword or would it blow up in our faces

Literally this:
Only one way to find out!

You're beyond the borders of what is known here.

-Grey Wizards are not legally allowed to own property,

Unless of 'direct and practical use to their cause', which is less of a loophole and more of a loopchasm.

-Schrodinger's Snek only produces one vial of a magical curiosity per month.

Just over a pint, actually. A gallon per turn.

That would be very difficult, as steel ore does not exist.

Sarcasm aside, asking "what if we do X" isn't going to be much help, because we're not going to be told what will happen. We need to take the actions to research it. Until then, the discussion is kind of irrelevant.
And even then, it will depend on what is prevented from happening when the cat trips us up on the way to the enchanters desk, delaying our arrival until the sun has reached the horizon, or something.

You're beyond the borders of what is known here.
Well, perhaps if we opened up correspondence with wassname... Teclis?

Let me quote a part of Realms of Sorcery:

"The Order of Shadows has killed or Pacified more of its own members than any other of the Orders of Magic, and this is more of a reflection of the zero-tolerance of rule breaking and corruption within the Order rather than a demonstration of their Magisters' untrustworthiness."

This is an order of wizard-assasins who follow the rules as closely as they can. Legal bullshitting doesn't matter in the slighest.

Pretty blatantly jacked the other plan, except letting

[X] [Private Report]: We captured the damn Snake, we yet have to find out what exactly happened to it in that box, but it's not bothering me anymore, so no risk for you to loose your spymaster over that.

[X] [Boon]: Assistance in creating our own military force (write in type)
-[X] The Shadows(?), an elite order of assassins, covert bodyguards, infiltrators, and spies sworn to the defense of the Empire. This will take some time, but well worth it for the possible benefits.

[X] [Orders]:
-[X] The disappearance of your predecessor is very concerning, but according to the Stirlandian League he's pulled out of the game with all his ill-gotten gains. If you're not willing to let that go, maybe you could track him down anyway.
-[X] The spell used by the informants is like nothing you've heard of before. You want to see if you can detect or replicate it.
-[X] Something your new Lieutenant said gave you an idea. Investigate the shores of the Black Water, see if it can truly be tamed.
-[X] If we've got vampire troubles, maybe you should spend some time investigating how to counter vampiric infiltration.
-[X] The Wurtbad Thieves Guild, despite barely being a loose gossip network, really came through during the take-down of the Stirlandian League. Maybe you should cultivate this useful tool.

These three plans are all very similar. The first two differ only in the boon and veekie's only changes two of the orders and a minor detail in the public report. Proper use of the plan functionality would make it a lot easier to read the tally with these. Just something for future turns, since it's a bit late in the game to try to get you to fix it.

One concern I have with all three plans is that they include the Thieves Guild order. What's going to happen if Van Hal chooses that? Are we no longer trying to keep it secret that we're involved with them?

I'd be more worried if he doesn't pick it and asks us what the hell we're thinking. IIRC this is the first time we've suggested it. If he goes for it, is it a problem?
