Usagi: "Aren't you supposed to be the Hidden Weapons master in this city? How can you not know how to use these things properly?!"
Mousse: "Ahem. Yes, but the emphasis is more on the 'hidden' rather than the 'weapons' part."
The problem might be finding someone able to teach proper techniques for wielding a greatsword in one hand and a throwing buzzsaw in the other. Seems awfully specific.

We could maybe find a way to adapt the tiara disc as a defensive item. Sword-and-buckler is a valid fighting style, if not a traditional Japanese one. And while the swords in question are generally a lot smaller than the Moon Stick sword variant seems to be presented as, Usagi's got enough raw physical strength in the transformed state that any weapon a human being can physically lift, she can probably whip around well enough to make it work.
Half joking, half that, half not having thought to Google our predicament so I could be informed that the weapon that probably maps best to the tiara is a chakram. Now, in real life it would probably be difficult to impossible to find someone who specializes in dual wielding a chakram and a longsword, but this is an anime megacrossover. We share a city with loads of people with weird niche specialties and worst case we can grab one of those people who specializes in "all weapons".
Hmm, Miyamoto Musashi might be an inspiration for Usagi. After all, he literally wrote the book on two-weapon fighting (which I have read and found very informative while not being boring). While it isn't quite like her fighting style would be if she used her sword and tiara, I know several people who learned to use sword and dagger effectively from reading and studying the book. Plus, his book is very clear on not making showy attacks or complicated moves to impress. Something Usagi should probably take to heart before she starts getting bad habits with weaponry.
Most of them are unlikely to directly assault our headquarters while no magical girls are there to defend the place, though. Pretty Cure villains tend to be relatively tightly focused on fighting the relevant Pretty Cures because said Pretty Cures are the direct threat and have the MacGuffins.
Most of them have victory conditions that can plausibly be achieved without, for instance, challenging Sailor Jupiter to a boxing match. So most of them don't try, either because they don't know she exists... or because they do know she exists, which is an even better reason not to fight her.
Pretty Cure villains are likely to keep focusing on the respective Pretty Cures, although the sheer number of them means that sometimes their attacks will smack into us by accident, and once in a long while they'll hit our headquarters by accident.
Beacon of War transforms the Moon Rod into either a staff or a sword, both of which are two handed weapons. In order to keep using Moon Tiara Melee Action, we may need to lean into Lunar themes of Orbiting, and treat the tiara as a close parrying dagger controlled telekinetically.
While not a perfect choice - Apparently (as in I keep forgetting) But Akane is fully trained in all Samurai Weapons - Katana and Wakazashi, Tanto, Naginata, Bow...
So it might not be perfect for this exact thing, but there is someone you know who is good with weapons.
We know someone who's good with weapon's, AND it's someone we've helped recently and would probably be willing to pay us back. I wonder if anyone has ever asked Akane for help learning how to fight before?

i remember that the Tendo School of Anything goes was the ground combat focus and Saotome was about taking fights vertically and using environments and acrobatics more? God this trivia is dusty and its dredging up Web 1.0 fandom memories.

A sword and a chakram? Maybe Lunaryon is willing to fudge the timing (and country broadcast unless we spend a lot more time abroad soon) like we already have for Pokémon, so that Xena: Warrior Princess is watchable this year instead of 1995, because that is way too perfect otherwise. I don't imagine it'd be much of a chore for Usagi to "appreciate".
Those two Yu Yu Hakusho characters were just cameos and aren't actually canon to the quest, right? Because Hiei's old teacher Shigure not only taught him the sword, his own weapon is basically an oversized chakra (think Tira from the Soul Calibur games).
I, too, have wondered about the logistical implications of Usagi being able to stack the bonuses from Moon Tiara Melee and the sword form of the Moon Stick.

I thought Lunaryon said something to the effect that Prowess isn't necessarily a function of using multiple weapons or spells at once, but simply having more options to choose from so that you'll have the right tool at the right time during a fight.
Although at some point you start to hit diminishing returns from having more tools available unless any one of those tools is particularly powerful; I imagine we'll hit that point sooner or later.
Yeah, that is something that I have been thinking about a lot recently since I started working on updating the sheets, because the change of spells and techniques is pushing abilities even higher and I need to do something about that since you are only likely to get more spells over time.
Well, if you have to renormalize a few things it's fine as long as we're not getting hit with threats that were specifically tuned to beat us at our current level after some of our abilities get nerfed.
One obvious move is to make more abilities situational or affecting only a single round of combat. This would tend to recreate (my impression of) customary Sailor Moon combat, where the villains are allowed to get some good hits in, grab a Senshi or two and wrap them up in vine tendrils, or something like that, only for repeated attacks to soften them up until Usagi blows them away with a "Round 3" Moon Tiara Action/Moon Healing Escalation or something like that.
On the other hand, it makes resolving combat rounds objectively more complicated, though it doesn't look like the actual mechanics of what happens and of rolling the dice are a major part of your overhead here.
"Would." thwack. "You." Bonk. "Stop." Smack. "Headbutting me." Sailor Jupiter growls out, and in between each of her words, Poisony slams the back of her head into Jupiter's face again and again. all together, the girl is slower and weaker than Jupiter, which made capturing the girl easy enough.
However, now that she has been captured, Poisony is doing her very best to be more annoying than it is worth to keep hold of the woman. Unfortunately for Poisony, Makoto grew up in Nerima, which means that she has developed a very long fuse.
So she can do this all day.
Standing across from Poisony however, is Tuxedo Mask, the man's hands slipping in and out of each of the woman's pockets as she searches for the Orange Rainbow Gem that the girl should be holding. All of a sudden, the woman goes limp, a smile stretching across her face.
"The Uzaina is destroyed." She says simply, "And Kintoleski's guard is down. Oh, Zakenna!" She whispers, "Get him."
JUPITER == Something's not right here== d10 + Int + Lrn == 2 + 8 + 14 = 24
Tuxedo Mask == There is something very wrong with all of this == d10 + Int + Lrn == 7 + 19 + 16 = 42
Poisony == You should just suffer and Die! == d10 + Int + Lrn == 4 + 22 + 5 = 31
42 vs 31
[TEN OVER ENEMY ROLL!]
[CRITICAL SUCCESS!]
Jupiter blinks, the words that Poisony speaks taking a moment to really settle in the girl's mind. The pale skinned woman is turning on the golden skinned warrior? Why would she do something like this? Especially when Poisony has gotten herself separated from the Zakenna and the Uzaina, leaving her completely defenseless against Jupiter and Tuxedo Mask's actions. This just doesn't make any sense, and in her confusion, Jupiter's grip on the woman slips and loosens just a little.
But that tiny show of weakness was just what Poisony was waiting for, and the woman leaps on the opportunity with everything she has, squirming in Jupiter's grasp, and sliding an arm free. Throwing her hand up, the woman's clawed fingernails billow out the same inky darkness that she used to melt a part of the floor earlier. Then, with a high pitched laugh, Poisony starts to bring her hand down. "DIE!" She roars. How exactly Poisony thinks that any of this is going to work is something that Jupiter seriously doesn't know.
Even if the attack were to hit and the poison were to work, Jupiter is still so much faster and stronger than the girl that there is no way that she'll be able to hit her. However, just before Jupiter was about to move back, Tuxedo Mask bursts forward, his gloved grip grabbing hold of Poisony's left hand, just inches from the woman's own chest.
"Now, now..." The masked warrior says with a chuckle, "Let's not go and do anything that you might regret later." He says, before the smirk on his face grows even wider, "Or perhaps in this particular case, it would be better to say before you go and do something that you won't live to regret."
Jupiter has to blink in confusion as she realizes that the woman hadn't been aiming at the Senshi, but instead at herself. What? What was Poisony thinking?
More and more, all of this just isn't making any sense. What in the world is Poisony's plan?
Poisony hisses, the woman writhing in Jupiter's arms, lashing out with every limb that she has, before leaning down and trying to bite the Senshi. Jupiter barely manages to leap back from the girl, avoiding the gnashing of teeth just inches from where she had been before.
"CAREFUL!" Tuxedo Mask bellows out, "She's trying to get us to kill her!" He says, and that statement makes the Senshi blink in confusion. How... no, Why? Why would she be doing something that? What would it even achieve?
There is definitely something that the girl is missing, but what it is... she doesn't have the slightest clue. Thankfully, Tuxedo Mask is here, and from what she knows about the Senshi's ally, this is the exact kind of thing that he specializes in. "What?" She asks him, glancing over towards the masked man for just a moment as she tries to understand what he is saying. "Why would she do something like that?"
"...I'm not sure." Tuxedo Mask says, before dashing forward, a kick lashing up towards the girl, and Jupiter can see the way that Poisony directly leans in towards the attack, only for Tuxedo to feint, switching from a kick to a flipping leap that lifts the man up and over the girl.
"Oh?" Poisony asks, laughing, "Is that what you think I'm trying to make you do."
"Well, no actually." Tuxedo Mask says, "I think you were trying to have Black and White do that to you, but that doesn't really make a lot of sense." The man continues, and even from where Jupiter stands across from him, she can see the way that his brow furrows. "They've fought warriors of the Doketsu zone before, so I can't imagine that them... What was it... Returning you to the Darkness form whence you came... would really bother them that much."
"Oh, you think you've got it all figured out don't you?" Poisony asks with a laugh as she whirls around, the claws of her left hand glowing black. Tuxedo Mask weaves to one side, but as he does an arm lashes out, cane in hand that smacks Poisony's hand away as it makes it's way back towards the woman.
"Yeah." Tuxedo Mask says with a laugh "I do.", and for the moment Jupiter stays back, because she isn't entirely sure what is going on, but if Tuxedo Mask is correct, then any spell that Jupiter might use may just be exactly what Poisony is looking for to... kill herself. Tuxedo Mask reaches up, tipping his hat as he stares at the girl. "Because let's be honest here... This whole little... coming out of nowhere and attacking so brutishly... That isn't your style at all Poisony." The man says simply, "Especially not when you go and intentionally reference the fact that you kidnapped and mind controlled their friends a few weeks back. Are you just upset about what happened to your brother?" He asks, and for a moment Poisony goes still.
Jupiter isn't entirely sure what he means by that, but those words clearly have power. "How... Dare you." The woman hisses out, eyes flashing bright.
"If you've got a problem with what I've said, Poisony... then why don't you come out here and face me yourself." Tuxedo Mask says, his words making everything start to click into place for the girl. This... This isn't the real Poisony is it? That must mean that...
"The real me?" The girl asks, with a laugh, "Oh, are you thinking that this isn't me?"
"No." Tuxedo Mask says simply, "If I were to make a guess..." He says, humming in amusement. "Miss Takenouchi is about the right height." Tuxedo Mask says, and that statement does bring Poisony to a stop. "That would have been just the right level of horrible." He continues, "fighting off one of their foes, only to kill someone close to them. Seems much more like the kinds of foolish plans that you come up with. Now that that isn't working, why, having us fail to save Black and White's teacher?" Tuxedo Mask posits, "That seems like just the kind of thing to push your enemies away from their allies."
"That is a wonderful theory." Poisony says, the woman smiling at Tuxedo Mask, "But how exactly do you plan on proving it."
"Honestly," Tuxedo Mask says, his grin showing teeth. "I don't need to prove it. I just have to keep you from killing your hostage before... ah... I'm not going to give you that information." He says with a chuckle. "However," Tuxedo Mask continues with a flourish and a grin full of sass, "You're not left handed." He says simply. "In all the time that you've gone after those girls, you've always used your right hand to summon your Zakenna. Here? You've all but only used your left hand, and all those little habits that you have, from pushing the hair out of your eyes to the tilt of your head when you are planning your next attack, they're all backwards."
Jupiter can't see the look on Poisony's face, but given how she freezes up, her head flinching back from the man, Tuxedo seems to be right on the money. "You've also been... slower than normal." He says as well, "If I were to take a guess, there's a bit of... delay in your control. That also explains why you don't have the Orange Gem on your either. For a while I had been wondering if Ilkubo had taken it... but no. I think you're holding onto that as your last card to hold against the Dark King. The fact that you've not failed the way that the others have."
Poisony takes a step back away from Tuxedo Mask, before she throws her head back and laughs. "That is a very interesting theory, I will give you that. But, if that were true, than what would stop me from just killing this woman and going on with my plans?" She asks, and even Jupiter knows the answer to that question, despite the way that she has struggled to follow the rest of what has been being said.
"...Us?" Jupiter offers, the words sounding so obvious on her tongue. "You haven't managed to land a hit on yourself so far, and that isn't going to change."
Poisony scoffs, a sharp, irritated sound, but at the same time, it is clear from the way that the woman shifts her stance to something looser and lighter on it's feet that she is planning on running.
Sure would be a shame if something happened that prevented that from happening. Last time she tried something like this, several police officers apparently had bruises over the following few days, and officers of the law are sturdier than teachers, which means that Jupiter can't just increase the woman's weight until she can't move. Perhaps the opposite might be the better option.
The Sailor Senshi's hand snaps out, magic flowing through her as her hand twists, arm raising as Poisony's weight rapidly begins to drop. At the same time, more magical fields begin to form. Poisony kicks off, trying to escape the grasp of the magic, but even the slightest bit of movement was enough to push her up and off the ground, into the air where she floats further up, and even more importantly - As the Poisony possessed woman's hands begin to glow black, lashing out, the woman's hand barely reaches halfway to her body, before she cannot push it any further.
This trick was inspired by the way that magnets work, and the fields of gravity placed at each elbow, knee, wrist, ankle and her the center of her body are shifting with every movement that the woman makes. Any time that she tries to bring any of these fields together, they will push against each other, and by the same accord, any time that they try to move further apart than they should be, the fields pull together.
In a way, it is like the woman is strapped to a bunch of bungie cords that will prevent her from touching herself. it's not perfect, and Jupiter has a feeling that the possessed teacher, or whoever this person really is is going to be sore in the morning, but she'll be alive, and she won't be possessed, that's what matters.
"Moon!" Jupiter calls into her communicator. "The Poisony we've got here is a fake. We could really use an spell to clear that up over here."
"One Moment!" Sailor Moon calls back through the communicator. "We've got a bit of a thing on our own hands. I'll be there as soon as I can."
"That would be appreciated." Tuxedo Mask confirms. "I'm free up, so what's the issue."
"Kintoleski." Sailor Moon says, which slightly confuses Sailor Jupiter, as the man seemed to be relatively level headed and willing to wait from what the girl had been able to hear up to this point. "He's been possessed, and... oh, no!" Sailor Moon cuts out, and before Sailor Jupiter has a chance to figure out what that statement meant, a car comes soaring up into the air, directly towards Poisony. A move of the hand manages to pull the woman out of the way at the same time that Tuxedo Mask dashes forward, leaping into the air and slicing the car in two.
Adding two more gravitational fields to what she is doing is a strain for Sailor Jupiter, but bleeding off the car's momentum is important enough to merit it, and the fact that they land with all the might and fury of a basketball is show enough that her work is worth it. Shuffling to one side, the girl grabs hold of one of the car halves, while Tuxedo Mask grabs the other. Jupiter carefully drops her half of the vehicle off the side of the building where it would crash to the ground without much force, while Tuxedo Mask leaps from the rooftop swinging the vehicle overhead.
Sailor Jupiter turns away from the fight, ignoring the little part of her brain that thinks that fighting that Golden Man might actually be fun, she's got a job to do.
Hm, that is more like it, the sort of plan that one would expect from Poisony. The intricate game of undermining and destroying the enemy from within is always so much more beautiful and satisfying than the bluntness of force.
It is fortunate that Endymion is present. It is also quite a stern reminder that the Senshi rather need to improve their Intrigue, individually and collectively. They cannot always depend upon Endymion to be present for this sort of matter. They need to master the dance in their own right. Like any dance, the steps can be learned, and the Senshi rather need to learn the steps of this waltz.
Well, i'm off the redeem and recruit Poisony train.
Unless we learn something rather surprising later on.
Pity, i liked her style, also nice to see smart villains.
And as terrible this was, i do have to admit it was a smart plan, she was just missing some important info on the people she was trying to manipulate.
Also probably should not have helped Kinto in the pre fight sequence, that put her in the "interesting let's learn more about her" category instead of "smite them down" category.
