Hopefully a Learning one, because her Diplo is 10 less than Usagi's and that is what was used for the roll.

But yeah, concise speaking lessons are needed.
I suspect that Ami's ingrained trained reflex against well, ACK-shually-ing every conversation she's a part of is working against her. She ALWAYS knows more than almost anyone present in any conversation. If she started interrupting every time someone else fails to properly explain some scholarly fact, she'd never stop.

Ok, how does that have a higher DC than when she was explaining the exact same thing to Jupiter earlier? This should have a much lower DC since Tuxedo Mask already laid alot of the groundwork and she doesn't need to try and convince anybody that magic is real or reincarnation is a thing.
Because she's trying to provide a higher level of detail, and the very fact that the basics are covered can itself be a problem, because it means that there are more choices about what to say... so she rambles more.

and the very fact that the basics are covered can itself be a problem,
I'd argue that the basics for Tuxedo Mask Were covered, not the basics for the Senshi.

He never really brought up other planets having royalty for example, or the talking cats, or that magic still exists on Earth but is hidden.

Then again this could get into an argument on the semantics of what qualifies as The Basics.

What really grates me is that we missed the DC by one point, so if we had diplomacy just one higher we would have made it.

And the sole reason our diplomacy isn't one higher is because of lazy giving us -1 to literally everything.

Not that it's surprising that overly emotional and its sub-traits shot us in the foot. Overly emotional has been shooting us in the foot since day 1, it was explicitly designed to shoot us in the foot, and it will continue to shoot us in the foot until we get rid of those debuffs and morph it into something actually helpful.

I am so ready to vote for Usagi being a workaholic if it means we can finally get rid of this trait. What do we even need to do to earn progress towards that?

It read like the higher level of detail wasn't a goal of the conversation, but a result of her failed roll. This was supposed to be a brief synopsis of the Senshi's connection to the Silver Millennium as a way to let Tuxedo Mask know he's not alone. Usagi failing the roll is what turned it into a failed attempt to explain reincarnation mechanics and different types of Youma. What I'm saying is this only looks complicated becuase Usagi flubbed it. This explanation should have had a very small bar to clear to be successful. Simply state that the Senshi are also from the Silver Millennium, but from other planets and that they will stand with him to stop the forces that destroyed the Silver Millennium from doing the same to earth. That's the sort of speech Usagi slings out in her sleep normally and doesn't need to involve explaining anything complex or convincing anybody of anything. Honestly I would expect a failure to result in Tuxedo Mask dismissing her as being immature or in over her head, not her failing to explain things that weren't being discussed.
In any case that's enough of a rant on this subject. I'm not actually upset or anything over this. I just find it weird.

The roll had a higher DC because it was trying to clear up the misunderstanding with Makoto rather than just explaining things properly to the Pretty Cure.

That does seem a little arbitrary as we were directing this at completely different people.

We can't even be sure she was listening, and does that mean Tuxedo had to roll for Jupiter to get His explanation?

Edit
In fact this means that pretty cure and Tuxedo should understand, but only Makoto is still confused.

Lazy is at 2 of 5, while Craven is at 3 of 7.

Whatever options exist in the next turn to continue getting rid of Lazy as soon as possible should be taken immediately. Far preferable and admirable for Moon to be an assiduous workhorse to the core than a contemptible, drowsy sloven.

Would Ami even ever interrupt anyone at all?

So it's clear to me that you guys aren't super happy with that, would you prefer that I excise that last bit of the update and use the older DC instead?

I think it's fine as it is.

It sucks a little yeah but thats's the case whenever you fail a roll. This is why we're trying to remove craven and lazy in the first place after all.

I would prefer that yes. Even after your post saying this explanation was meant to clear up Makoto's misunderstanding I still don't get that at all from the actual story section. In fact I didn't even get that the explanation might have been directed at the precures. I thought she was talking to Tuxedo Mask. If you do want to keep the roll and resulting failed explanation in I would suggest you include a bit before that to make it more clear who she's talking to and what she intended to convey.

Eh, it's your call. I just hope that if not, we get another chance to explain properly later cause flubbing a roll like that after Tuxedo extended some trust to us to tell his story is just...yikes.

I'd keep the roll as is. Sometimes we'll take a L, and that's questing for ya. We're lucky that this roll was relatively low stakes and we'll probably be able to explain ourselves better at a later point in time.

It is your call, though it does feel a bit like an objective creep that wasn't totally necessary or something that would happen if the roll exceeded the dc by a greater amount rather than a base DC.

I think it made more sense to have the same DC, yes, but I don't particularly support changing it at this point. The changed dc does not meaningfully deny player agency. Now, with that being said, I do think it's also worth considering the dc in general. Usagi is a diplo specked character, and yet still has a readily failed roll to explain basic facts. This would imply that, for instance, Ami is essentially categorically incapable of explaining this since her diplomacy is 7 lower, which I feel probably isn't what you want.

Okay, we really need to increase our Diplomacy if we keep getting bad diplo checks.

I propose we train Naru, and figure out some way to better explain this. Maybe have an action where we write down explanations and try to reformat into some way that makes sense.

Maybe we can even make a book that we can sell? We can do our own version of Game of Thrones regarding the Silver Millennium if it is good enough. Or would it technically be Battletech given the timeframe?

Eh, I will keep the roll, just don't give us a negative trait when (not if) it happens next time. That I think would be a bit too much. I think we can and should take the L this time.

Alright, I think I will keep the result, but do a bit of rewriting in the next update to make it clearer that some of the confusion is coming from Makoto.

I originally planned on writing the update tonight, but I have fallen asleep like three times since making that plan, so I am just going to go sleep and start in the morning
