Is.....is that not just light? A lot if light, but still light?

Does their Transformation sequence actually come with a deadly energy attack!?

Is that why their enemies don't interrupt their sequence!? So they don't get vaporized by the incidental Rainbow Aurora Light Beam of Doom!?
It actually would explain a lot if the stray magical energies surrounding a magical girl transformation were intense enough that trying to interrupt one was the equivalent of licking a high tension wire for any minion of darkness dumb enough to approach or launch an attack into it while it was happening.

...That could be problematic, particularly since Attention from the police and the news is a fairly big deal. As of right now, the public doesn't really have any perception of either PreCure or the Senshi as people yet, just a half-remembered dream and a few confused citizens who blink after the girls that bounded onto their roof. Signaling their transformation every single time will, as a function of statistics, make an eventuality of PreCure getting caught on camera. Now, I'm hoping that they have some sort of glamour as well, but more importantly, once the news and police put together even the idea that "magical girls like Sailor V are real and in Tokyo," then Attention gets a lot more...testy. For example, somebody's going to take a second look at those teenagers who seem to be scouting out a corporate building at sunset.

...Basically kinda? It didn't disintegrate anyone, but the question of 'why not hit them in the middle of the transformation' (in at least the first season) is 'because the pillar goes lolno at you'. I think it was Pisard who tried and like, just bounced right off.

A Physicist who works as a teacher at Tokyo University actually did the math -

The amount of force for pure light to lift two average Japanese schoolgirls into air equals out to Twice the amount of Electricity that it takes to power Tokyo Per Year Per Meter Per Second.

And best estimates put the radius of the light to somewhere around ten feet.

So... A fuck ton of power. But yeah, it should be more than enough to completely eradicate anything that hits it, and we end up seeing Proof of that way later in the crossover season of Huggto, the OG pretty cure saves the Huggto team by deflecting one of the General's attacks using their transformation field.

I always figured magical bullshit reduced power requirements, but since the magic in question is inimical to the monsters, that doesn't make it safer to mess with from the monsters' point of view.

Another 'Hint' which wasn't really a hint, but whatever.

Major Media companies where using Digital photography by 92, so there really wouldn't have been a need for a dark room.

I learned that while doing research for the update.

Hrm.

I mean, to be fair, digital cameras had been on the market for a few years, and Japan was pretty forward-thinking in that... But I kind of shrugged it off as "well, technology transitions don't happen instantly."

But you're not wrong that it's a valid hint. It'd have been a lot more conspicuous if the story had been set in the 21st century, though.

Took a while to dig up but some things about old mask, quote from Ryuugi
Ryuugi said:
On the subject of Tuxedo Mask, the guy is a badass. Proof:

In the five or so minutes of being informed of a new enemy and the fact that his loved ones were in danger while he was on the other side of the city, he:

1) Found a Santa Suit.

2) Got dressed.

3) Found a sleigh-based balloon.

4) Got it into the air.

5) Flew across the city.

6) Made an entrance as Santa.

7) Undressed in a flash.

8) Revealed he had his entire outfit, including a pressed tux and a hat larger then Santa's underneath it the entire time.

All just to make a thematic entrance. Now that's a fucking superpower.

It's like having a very hammy and erratic Batman on your side.

You don't know what he's capable of, or in what manner he will intervene, but you do know it's gonna be memorable.

He does get a lot of smack talk that he doesn't really deserve, generally speaking. It's a good thing to see that this thread is giving him some good respect.

So just to give everyone something else to worry about, I want to bring up Heartcatch Precure again. I believe it's already been mentioned that the Heart Flowers are from that season of Precure (and if it hasn't been, now I have mentioned that), but there's something else about Heartcatch Precure that could be quite worrying.

To wit, the show starts after the battle against the Desert Apostles has been going on for a while, in that the show proper starts soon after Cure Moonlight is defeated and rendered unable to transform any more after fighting the Desert Apostles and Dark Precure for an essentially unknown amount of time. Not that Blossom and Marine know this at the time, history showing dream-flashbacks aside.

IE, there's a giant open area of potential plot in which they could be doing basically anything and show up basically anywhere, because we don't know what schemes the Apostles undertook back then and who's wilting Heart Flowers they used to make monsters.

...But if we do see someone's Heart Flower starting to wilt or otherwise die off, we're likely in for a crossover episode.

We've seen some signs of wilting heart flowers, actually.

We just haven't been in a position to act on that because the people in question are normally complete strangers we pass in the street or on the school roof or something.

On people whom show up more centrally to the current episode then.

Also, more importantly, speaking of Tuxedo Mask, Heartcatch has their own version. Sometime they're both going to try to intercede at the same time and bounce off of each other.

Maybe.

But it should be pointed out that just because heart flowers from Heartcatch are canon, it doesn't mean that an active... uh, youma-equivalent... faction of villains from Heartcatch are actively preying on them. Lunaryon is free to integrate single isolated elements from particular PreCure shows (out of the many that there have been) without adopting the whole show's contents lock, stock, and barrel.

You mean like this one? That Usagi came across at her school.

The girl's heart flower...

On the one hand, it is a species of flower that Usagi recognizes. Beautiful Lily of the Valleys...

But on the other hand, this Heart Flower is unlike any that Usagi has seen before. The entire flower is rotten, the petals traced with veins of black, as blood drips down the stems. The entire thing gives off a vibe so strong that Usagi can practically smell the death and decay.

Watching as the girl slowly makes her way down the stairs, Usagi realizes that she and the others are going to have to keep an eye on the girl, lest... Something terrible happens.

@FictionPack I'm guessing that's Hotaru.
Wrong hair and eye color:
Once the final bell rings, Usagi slips away from the rest of the students, sidling up to the rooftop. "Mo-" The girl starts to say, before she pauses. Something niggles at the back of the girl's mind, and after taking a moment to look around, she spots a rather sad and tired looking girl, with long blonde hair and sea-foam green eyes sitting over around the corner from the roof access door, the girl looks out over the leaving students with a somber look on her face.
Hotaru has short-ish black hair and violet eyes.

Sure, but we've also seen a character from Heartcatch. One of the judges for the talent show is from Heartcatch, and by from Heartcatch I mean 'is the older sister of Cure Marine'.

Yep. I forgot about that scene, but if that's not forshadowing I'll be highly suprised. (It still might not be forshadowing a Heartcatch style incident, but it seems likely that it is to me.)

If you mean Fate Testarossa, doesn't she have red eyes? Also I'd be surprised if a Nanoha crossover showed up, at least this early. The TSAB being an actual government agency, even if it's not an earth government, would be a giant rock thrown into the genre expectations I'd think?

If things broadly follow the canon arc, there's going to come a point at which we switch from Jadeite's mass-extraction plots to some of the other generals' more boutique "drain one person" plots. When that happens, we'll be a bit more free to follow up on specific people with individual tragedies- but we can't assume we'll get a chance to follow up on every plot hook in front of us, with the operational tempo the Dark Kingdom's sustaining.

Maybe.

On the other hand, it's also possible that the symptoms of something the Dark Kingdom or ??? is doing happens to line up with the symptoms of what Heartcatch is doing. I don't know, and I don't want to make too many specific assumptions.

Funny enough, the woman who voiced Fate also voiced Tsubomi from Heartcatch Precure.

Even better, she was a big fan of Precure, so she is an example of the Promoted Fanboy Trope. Or would it technically be Fangirl.

I noticed that there were five asteroids listed on WikiMoon's Solar System Article: Ceres, Juno, Vesta, Pallas and Chiron. The first four asteroids we know have Sailor Guardians - the Sailor Quartet. The fifth and final asteroid, Chiron, has some connection to Naru's friend Rui Saionji: in the Sailor Moon anime, Nephrite learned it was "controlling the energy" of Rui Saionji. But is it possible that there is more of a connection between Chiron and Rui Saionji? Like latent Sailor Chiron level of connection?

(I know the answer is probably no, but it's interesting to think about. If its true, then there must be something about Naru to be able to find and befriend two Sailor Guardians)

Arguably, but on the other hand, to some extent that kind of thing can be an easy coincidence given just how MUCH of the 'Sailor-verse' plot seems to circle back and forth around Usagi's metaphorical backyard.

Destiny is a helluva drug in the setting, to the point where you can randomly trip over all the youma plots personally without any major investigative resources, and where it seems like every damn thing involves someone no more than two degrees of separation from Usagi personally.
