We will be getting plenty of minions once we declare ourselves the god empress of the solar system.
Or just restore the Moon Palace.
We're still trying to grasp our power, no point going minion hunting just yet.
It is also curious why the attack would be ordered now, of all times, when there are no active Heartcatch Precures. The current Heartcatch generation has not even awakened.
I can't say, because I don't know what the Desert Apostles goals are, but it could easily be an attack against the retired pretty cure who runs the Botanical gardens. Maybe she had some sort of power/item/knowledge and they were hoping to attack her and pre-emptively remove the threat.
Or maybe the garden itself was the target, and after wrecking the place, the sackeyes were tasked with attacking the people nearby, to drive them away and reduce interest in repairing the gardens.
Speaking of minions, we need some. We can't be an (evil) organization out for world peace (domination) without hordes of minions. I suppose the easy answer is just having Naru make magic golemns and subjourn command to the Senshi as field commanders while she's the Mook maker. Cheap, expendable, replaceable, they would be good for basic labor, search and rescue, search and destroy, automation of certain tasks. I could see it working. Though if we wanted more capable troops I suppose our best options would be Naru, again, putting more effort into making either better golems or creating new youkai, or 'educating' our future magic students and training them as mid-tier magic soldiers. That wouldn't be enough to stop a truly powerful foe, but they would be able to buy time until one of the high-ups make it on-scene.
I think basic magic golems as mooks, magic soldiers as elite mooks, and the Senshi as the quirky mini-boss squad (though I like my made-up term Dragon Pack alot too) and Usagi/Moon as the Big Bad. I mean Big Good.
Hmm, do our employees count? After all, the job of a minion is the do the grunt work that the bosses don't want to do. Paperwork and filing certainly count for the majority of the Senshi.
Now, all we have to do is mandate a work uniform that really gets across our brand...
They couldn't have been attracted to Usagi casting the spell, because she did that afterwards, and I didn't see any magic being used while she looked for people in the wreckage.
However, it is possible that someone like Brawler was the one who destroyed the Garden. This could explain why the Desert Apostles are active early?
Problem is, the other Pretty Cure didn't seem surprised by the attack. Maybe she, like us, is just assuming the Apostles did it? Something to keep an eye on for sure
[X][Now] Slip away, Transform, then come back and Wait and See
However, if anything the speedy attack seems to just excite Kumojacky, the man throwing his head back and laughing. "Yes! Yes! This was what I expected when I heard your boasts! Come on then! Show me your power!" And with that, Kumojacky leaps forward, spinning and swinging his blade at the demon with a great amount of force. The two clash, and Naru slowly looks over to Rei... "Should we... do something?" She asks, a question which Rei has been thinking about, but to be entirely honest she doesn't have the slightest of ideas.
Men are... confusing creatures in her eyes, and she has a feeling that regardless of what she does or says, it is likely going to be the wrong answer, getting both demon and man angry at her.
Her first instinct is to find somewhere and transform, to join the fray and put down the demon. Of course, there is all the chance in the world that this Kumojacky guy might feel that you are intruding on his fight. Guys seem to like to fight, and seem to not like it when they get interrupted, or at least, that is what Rei has managed to put together through her manga reading materials.
Then there is the similar but distinctly different option of just using her powers as a Miko to handle the demon, strike him down with all her power right here and now. Thinking about it, the girl has a feeling that this will either piss off Kumojacky even more...
Or it will make him want to fight her, and that... That would be annoying.
Of course, there is also the possibility of just waiting around. After all, one or the other are going to eventually lose this battle. If the demon loses, then really there isn't anything to worry about. But if the demon wins, then it might kill this guy and grow even stronger.
Now, Rei is entirely aware of the fact that the man seems to be more playing with the demon than anything else, but it is a possibility. Battles can swing back and forth at the drop of a hat after all... Though that really depends on just how powerful Kumojacky really is in comparison to the Youma.
Or... Rei can barely believe the idea even occurs to her, but the fact of the matter is that the youma is struggling even when at it's best against this Kumojacky guy.
The two Senshi could just leave. Who knows what the others are up to, they might need help. And... well, this Kumojacky guy clearly doesn't. At the very least, those are all the ideas that Rei herself can come up with.
After a long moment of thought, Rei glances over to Naru. The other girl is watching closely as the two warriors fight it out, the red headed girl's eyes wide and there is a faint blush on her cheeks. Rei leans over, lightly poking her friend. "Hey." She hisses out quietly.
Naru glances over, a confused look on her face, and Rei points out towards the forest. Naru glances over towards the trees, but there is nothing there. Naru glances back over to Rei a confused look on her face "What? Is something there?" She asks, and Rei holds a hand out, motioning for the girl to keep quiet.
"I'd just rather have us transformed up in case something goes wrong." Rei whispers out, and after a moment Naru gives a little 'Ah' of understanding. With that in mind, the two make their way into the trees a slight way off from the battle.
Then, deep in the trees there are two cries. "Mars Planet Power, Make up!" and "Moon power! change me!"
Neither the Youma nor the Warrior notice the disappearance of the two fighters, nor do they notice the words called out into the trees. Even once the two transform, the Youma doesn't notice a thing as they return.
Kumojacky on the other hand. The man steps to one side, casually dodging the swirling strike that his opponent throws at him. The red headed warrior looks over to the edge of the trees as Sailor Mars steps across the border of the clearing. There is a long moment where the man looks at her, and Mars can see him weighing her, measuring her, and finding her wanting.
Again the man takes a step back, avoiding yet another blow that his opponent throws his way. The minutes slowly slip by as Mars and Sei watch the fight go on, and what Rei had seen earlier, Mars was still seeing now, and seeing more than ever. With each pass between the two, the Youma is achieving little, and while Kumojacky seems to be achieving even less, the real difference is the fact that the Youma continues to tire itself out, while the apparent human is resting and recovering his stamina.
This battle is all but decided at this point, and it would take a massive upset, or a change unlike anything that the Senshi could expect to alter the outcome. "Come on now!" Kumojacky says, flicking his blade off to one side. "Is this all you've got, unstoppable demon?" He asks, "You've shown that you have the endurance to keep fighting, but that isn't enough to win a fight."
There is something about the way he says those words, but Mars sits back, and for the life of her, she really wishes that she had some popcorn. Something itches at the back of her mind, not quite a memory, and not quite an instinct, it is something different. The girl reaches out, and there is a flicker of flame that dances around her hands.
Something... strange happens. Rei can't really put it into words, just that her magic twists and flows in a way she's never had it do before, and suddenly, there is a box in her hand.
"How did I?" She mutters to herself, before shrugging. This is exactly what she wanted, and at the moment she really doesn't care how she managed to summon forth a box of popcorn out of a fire. That is something that she can experiment and study later, right now.
Right now the girl opens up the box of popcorn, pulling out one of the bags and holding it between her hands. Slowly, heat flows out of Mars's soul, down through her arms and into the bag. Little by little the bag begins to expand, the air inside heating and growing hot. Pop. One by one the little kernels of corn inside begin to fail against the heat, one by one they begin to pop.
The demon growls, a low heavy sound that is like metal scratching against metal, "Mock me all you want, human." The demon growls out, "But I am superior to you."
"Yes yes," Kumojacky says with a sigh. "You've said so several times now, and yet each time you say it... it feels less and less impressive, because you still can't seem to follow up on your boasts. I'm starting to tire of this."
The demon bristles, "You want me to show you something impressive? IS THAT IT?" The demon roars out. Power builds and flows, bronzed magic building up around the demon as the air begins to tick and tock with the sound of a thousand clocks.
The sound building higher and higher as more energy begins to flow through the demons form. "Do you see me now?" The demon asks, "This is more power than I have ever used before!" The demon roars, "I have never called on my mistress's power to such a degree!"
Kumojacky stares at the demon for a long moment, and there is a strange look on his face. "You've never called on that much power before?" He asks, "And now you are doing it... right in the middle of a battle?" With each word, Kumojacky is getting more and more intense.
All the while the two Senshi sit back, Mars has opened the package of Popcorn and the two are cheerfully munching away. Sei takes a handful of popcorn from the second of the bags that Mars had helpfully popped, before looking down at the bag. "Where did you even get these?" She asks, and Mars laughs.
"To be entirely honest, I just knew that I had some at home, and I... did something, and now they are here." It's not much of an answer, but it is Mars's answer. Across the clearing from the two, the Demon gives a roar, one so mighty and filled with power that it shakes leaves from the trees.
No. It isn't that the leaves are shaken free of the tree, but rather that the leaves are crinkled and dried, ancient and crumbling but to dust even as they fall. The demon's magic is aging everything that it touches. "Come on then, warrior Kumojacky!" The demon growls out, "Come and face me if you dare, for I bring forth the weight of Eons, and all who come close shall age unto their very death."
Sailor Mars sits up straighter when she hears that, watching the ensuing battle with a lot more focus. This... This is something that sounds very dangerous, and Sailor Mars can't help but worry a little that this might be the very thing that she didn't expect which could swing the battle out of favor for the red headed warrior.
Kumojacky is actually quiet for a moment. The man standing still as he watches the grass beneath the demon's feet age away until there is nothing but sand. "Well now. That is indeed quite a gift. Something that might have great use to Lord Dune and his goals." The youma laughs, and Kumojacky puts one foot back, shifting the way he holds his blade. "Tell me demon, what is your name?"
"My name..." The demon is quiet for a long time. "Oh, I had a name once upon a time. But that name doesn't matter. You wouldn't recognize it, not out here in Japan. My Lady's master was the one who plucked me up, out of a jail in a little place called Morocco. You've likely never heard of it. But I do need a name don't I? A demon such as me..." The demon goes quiet for a long moment. "You may call me Dahliman." He says the name like dolly-man, but Mars recognizes the name of the artist who painted a picture that looks similar enough to the demon.
"Dahliman..." Kumojacky tilts his head first one way, and then the other. "Dalhi-man. Like the painting?"
The demon laughs. "Yes, yes. I had actually been arrested because I stole the original. Too bad my fence turned out to be a fucking narc."
Sei furrows her brow at that. The woman isn't entirely sure what the demon is saying at this point. He seems to speaking Japanese yes, but the words and the meanings are entirely unlike anything she has ever heard before.
"I see." Kumojacky says, "so you were a criminal before, when you were... human. It's a pity. I was really starting to enjoy our little fight, but it seems that the time has come for this all to end. You should have been more careful." Neither Mars nor Sei are entirely certain what Kumojacky means by that, but it sounds like the man is about to kill the demon.
The Senshi start to get to their feet. But before they can do anything, the warrior of the Desert Apostles continues speaking. "You've overreached yourself, and you haven't even noticed."
"What are you talking about?" The demon roars, but as it does, Mars notices the very thing that Kumojacky must have noticed as well. The red of the demon's armor is starting to crack and fade in color. It seems that the creature is unable to hold the whole of this aging power in itself, and now that it is starting to lose control, it too is beginning to be affected by it, which means it won't be long until the demon is destroyed by the very power it uses.
"I do have to thank you though," Kumojacky says, "This power of yours... Oh, it can be used for much greater goals than your own, so I am going to thank you for giving me this chance to learn and grow."
The demon laughs, and Mars realizes what is about to happen. Kumojacky is about to kill that demon, and from the sound of it possibly even try and gain that aging power for himself. Should the Senshi try and stop this from happening?
[ ][Dahliman] Leave it be
- The Demon is clearly already dying under it's own power going out of control, letting Kumojacky stop this from getting any worse is just a mercy
[ ][Dahliman] Stop him
- You don't know who this stranger is, or what his goals are, but letting him try and take the power to age things to dust sounds like a bad idea. Either it fails and he dies, or he succeeds and gains a strange power.
Frankly, I'm rather curious to know if he can steal the power from the youma. Might help us understand the nature of their magic better by watching it.

Hmm, given that he said he was drawing on his mistress's power, it'd be amusing if it went kaput when Ramua is neutralized. I'd like to see that: Kumojacky boasting about his new power, then suddenly having it vanish because the source got de-aged into a little girl.
