I do. Basically, gonna do away with individual equipment management and switching it to set unit types. Your army won't get a 100% accurate transfer over, unfortunately, but will try and keep it as close as possible
Oh nice, yeah that does simply things a lot. I can attest just on my end setting up the spreadsheet to handle different equipment types was fun and it had to be revised a couple times as things went on. Plus the sheer number of units are a bit argh.

It's something that theoretically worked okay as an idea with the small scale army you had at the start of the quest, but it became increasingly infeasable and needed more and more bookkeeping as the Quest went on
Ouch, these are far bigger losses than I expected. It kind of shows how they are clearly better equipped than the rabble we faced before. I mean the loot is massive over a hundred armour, over two hundred shields and over three hundred swords. And we got 250 wealth and another 15 renown.
Thanks to the bulk of them being lured to the bridge and trapped, you killed hundreds of bandits, out of a force of roughly a thousand. They outnumbered the forces you sent pretty heavily.

Losses were the worst you've experienced so far, but if it's any consolation, the duel went hilariously well for you guys. Huangfu Buxing crit failed multiple times, which is one reason why he just ran away screaming after only a couple clashes, taking a portion of the army with him
Correction - they outnumbered your infantry force, you gave them the whole "illusion of greater numbers" thing by having your cavalry move around elsewhere to outflank them
Our proportion of cavalry to infantry is hilariously skewed to cavalry for an army of this time period, so everyone keeps assuming that our personal bodyguard is the full extent of our cavalry force. Then every battle we pull out "...And the Winged Hussars Arrived!" due to our disproportionately large cavalry force.

To be fair, most of the time their leadership has not survived the fight. Y'know, the guys who typically notice tactics like that and are able to report it with some clarity to their fellow commanders.
Unfortunately, the leadership did get away this time, so that little advantage is less likely to work for the remainder of the campaign.

We are the cav focused build and low tier infantry tends to die in droves when facing folks with similar equipment, morale and training. Our boys are good, but they are no Legionaries. Though that may just be my Total War: Warhammer experience talking, since in that game, low level human infantry die in droves when facing just about anything else in battle even at the same tier.
Anyway, the armor should help keeping some of our surviving infantry from this battle well in future engagements.
I think our biggest source for losses was due to not having Zhu Fang and his boys around. They are built for this kind of down and dirty melee. We were noticeably missing a ground commander to keep things together in the thick of it.
Recommended suggestion for future deployments: At minimum have the following types of commanders: 1 overall commander, 1 bodyguard commander/champion, 1 cav commander, 1 ground forces commander.
Gives us redundant leadership and localized autonomy for the force type.
Eh, its something to keep in mind at least.
Also, updated bulk status on forces available to Xinshen:
1.All of these axes and swords, I'm sure we can find a use for them.
2. Assuming that the Xinshen Show of force does not somehow bring in even more recruits, we are not increasing our forces at all for the remainder of the campaign. As such, where possible, let the Gentry, Xinshen garrison and Army get first pick on infantry heavy operations. All of those forces had proportionally more infantry than us before this battle, but now the proportions are even more skewed in favor of cavalry for the Lancers.
3. As likely mentioned prior, the Azure Lancers represent 50% of allied cav in this campaign and the most skilled cav contingent at that.
The Azure Lances have a disgustingly (in a good way) high proportion of their composition (more than 25%, a quarter of which are our veteran/elite retinue). Truly, elite cavalry is the deathball that keeps killing and getting stronger. No matter how elite your infantry, it will face the highest level of attrition from the grind of combat. Trash archer spam also has the potential to deathball, but you need adequate infantry and cavalry to keep the opposing cav off of your missile troops. I'm interested to see how an elite archer force stacks up against an elite cav force, but weather, terrain and who holds the element of surprise will be the deciding factors. Open ground is perfect for both archers and cav, after all.
Funnily enough, many army compositions in the Eastern Han seemed to have high proportions of cavalry - up to a third in some cases. Cavalry was also very effective during this period, thanks tot he advent of stirrups, horse barding and the sheer strength and speed of the warhorses used.
During your battle, the rest of your companions and the Azure Lances carry out your orders as discussed. There is only time for last minute preparations, with the invasion of the county likely to commence in a manner of mere days.
Through the streets of the city, Zhu Fang marches your soldiers, banners proudly flying and music playing. Commoners and refugees cheer and whoop as they pass by, as conveniently positioned allies within the town spread stories of your deeds and accomplishments. Your men march proudly out of the city, followed by crowds of excited children, women and elders from Xinshen and beyond. There, near your encampment, mock battles and military drills are performed, directed by Zhu Fang, for the entertainment of the gathered throng of onlookers. Horsemen race each other around a dirt track, whilst your archers and crossbowmen have a competition, firing into targets. Zhu Fang proudly proclaims that the Liang clan will protect everyone from the menacing raiders, and the county will be protected with the bandits driven back and destroyed. The watching city garrison seems most impressed by the display, and even the Imperial Army unit watches and note the discipline and good order of the Azure Lances. Gifts are brought to your soldiers from townsfolk and refugees, wine and food is shared, friendships are made, and some of your troops even enjoy an evening's companionship of young ladies from the city. Spirits are rising.
Ge Dejun and a few of his fellow gentry, however, watch and seethe. Few even among the scholarly classes in the county are even speaking of the Ge family at this point. Jealousy starts to overwhelm the young representative of the nobility, and he desires his own opportunity to impress the people...

Tirelessly, Yu Zhong continues to investigate evidence relating to corruption in the local administration. Perhaps to no one's surprise, he uncovers that the County Bureau of Banditry had been rather incompetent and inept under Leng Jun's leadership. Astonishingly, however, he uncovers various letters and missives suggesting the Division Head of the bureau had been exchanging correspondence with none other than Chu Yan himself. In exchange for being purposefully neglectful (and advising Leng Jun that the local crime problem was just an exaggeration spread out by a certain "glory hungry" young head of a clan), this officer was promised significant rewards. Interrogation carried out by both Yu Zhong and Jia Xu confirmed this treachery, and also implicated various other clerks and assistants in other county bureaus and offices as well. It seems many of them had accepted bribes from agents of Chu Yan, and had been spreading poisonous words to Leng Jun and the other officials in the city. Over twenty men of various ranks are found guilty of betrayal and corruption by Zhang Xiu, and are sent off to fight as soldiers in the Imperial Army as punishment for their crimes.
With positions opened up in almost every office of the county administration, Yu Zhong exploits this opportunity. Wasting no time, he personally recommends to Zhang Xiu capable men within the region and the nearby territories, to be promoted to fill the missing positions. They are all tested and interviewed, and found out to be men of good morals, education, integrity and standing.
Unbeknown to even the wily gaze of Jia Xu, every single one of these men, from various backgrounds and distant villages, have all sworn in secret loyalty to the Liang family and to you in particular. The Division Head of the County Bureau of Banditry, Accessory Clerks in the County Bureau of Households and County Bureau of Markets, and Junior Clerks in all County Bureaus, as well as an assistant aide to Zhang Xiu himself, are all taken up by capable, incorruptible men directly under your thumb and potentially command.
In the long term, you can likely use these agents to further manipulate and control the local government and sway things to your favour.

Although no one in the populace is really sure where they started, gossip spreads through Xinshen city, the refugee camps and the outlying villages and districts like wildfire. The topics of everyone's lips are the Ge clan, and more specifically, Ge Dejun. People whisper in taverns that Ge Dejun intends to overthrow Zhang Xiu and install a family member as Prefect, using the chaos spreading throughout the Empire as a distraction. Other people speak in hushed voices how he has no intention of fighting the bandits, and the Ge clan and their allies intend to hole up in their estates, hoarding food and treasures, and waiting for things to tide over. Others spread stories about Ge Dejun's apparent incompetence in military affairs, and how he intends to charge the rebel army head on in a vain attempt at personal glory. Even more stories are told about how his young daughter is not even his own child, saying that her eyes are more akin to that of Dejun's best friend and second in command instead, suggesting an affair and bastard born girl.
Nobody is quite certain which, if any, of this gossip and rumours are true. What is certain, however, is the popularity and goodwill of the Ge family start to plummet, and Ge Dejun is looked at with contempt and suspicion. Zhang Xiu seems to be taking this very seriously, and Yu Zhong reports that Jia Xu is being used to investigate the gentry camp for any proof of treachery or malcontent.

Gongsun Ye has the idea to hire refugee workers and labourers to help fortify your encampment, and envisions them digging trenches and erecting further defensive embankments and walls. Unfortunately, despite paying for supplies and labour, Gongsun Ye finds the work quickly stalling. Fences quickly collapse due to poor wood, and shoddy tools bring construction to a near halt. Some of the refugees are very unskilled labourers and unsuited to such work, and if anything, seem to be doing more damage to your camp than good. When you return to your base, you find your encampment somehow in a worse state than you found it.

Bo Ben heads south to Henei to purchase foodstuffs and supplies, now that the local Yellow Turban threat has subsided for the time being. He returns with several carts of provisions, perhaps not enough to a particularly long siege, but enough to hopefully feed your soldiers and the townsfolk on a temporary basis, should supplies be cut off. They are added to the garrison's own stockpiles and surpluses.

The ever charming and delightful Ce Xiang pays a visit to almost every household in the city, to rally them, soothe their concerns and raise their spirits before the coming battle. Already impressed by your show of force and your many, many deeds in caring for them and protecting them, the civilians and refugees praise your faction greatly, and are already hailing you as saviours. It seems many of them are preparing to gather whatever weapons or tools they can to assist in the defence of the city, emboldened and inspired by the Azure Lances' efforts.

Within days, it becomes clear to almost everyone that the Liang clan has risen to be the dominant gentry family in the county and beyond, and the star of the Ge clan is waning. Your actions and deeds throughout the year have won the support of nearly all the nobles in the region, and your influence continues to spread.

In the Fenshan Valley, Xu Tong and Ce An respond to a plea for aid from the local militia, as looting and rioting and pillaging erupts throughout the district. Your allies chase them from farm to field, driving them away, and killing several in many small, isolated skirmishes. Several hundred criminals and trouble makers melt away into the hills or flee north.
When they return to your estate, they are welcomed with fire and smoke.
A number of the refugees you were sheltering suddenly turned on your village, killing several and starting many fires, torching fields, buildings and even your border fences. Thankfully, your remaining retainers and soldiers were able to chase them away before serious damage could be caused (or before any of your kith or kin could be harmed, captured or killed), but reports come in that your estate and holdings took a beating, and likely were purposefully targeted.

The Ge did what? Okay. so praying that Jia Xiu finds that evidence and finds it soon because there will be a reckoning! Also bandit infiltrators ugh. Looks like we need to fix up the estate the next time we get options to do so as well as search for infiltrators.
Also the fact that Leng Jun while somewhat incompetent was not all to blame... yeah. Those two crit rolls really helps us big time.

Uh.......Okay so I don't follow the general thread talk, so I gotta ask, was the Ge Head actually this much of a prick, or did we just manipluate shit in the background so people think its true? Because ngl, if he actually did this its what he deserves, but if we're framing the guy it sits dirty with me. Sure we didn't marry Maiyu, but I still considered her a friend, so this feels fucked up to me.
