Threads Of Destiny(Eastern Fantasy, Sequel to Forge of Destiny)

I mean, I'd think that LQ's first reaction would be to assume that her situation is an illusion or formation or a Great Spirit's creation. Not that there is actually no qi. Having no qi to her is like us having no physics, or maybe no air. It's not congruent with her previous paradigm. Meanwhile she's already been in situations where those above her are completely capable of shutting off parts of reality, like the Moon journey or the Silent Stones or Jiao's formations. Being caught in another one of those would make much more sense to her than being in another dimension. 'Being in another dimension' or another body is the kind of thing that we the readers of FoD including ThorsTwin might jump to, because we've read a lot of fiction and fanfiction where that takes place and we're already reading fanfiction of webfiction, but it's not something that she could be exposed to.
Thanks for bringing this up, and perhaps I should have explained Ling Qi's thought process about this whole thing a little better in the first part. But essentially, here is how I'm envisioning the thought process to go.

She doesn't particularly care how to classify where she is (whether illusion, formation, or great spirit shenanigans) as she's more concerned with using the rules of the place in order to figure out a way back home.

However, she knows that people don't live on giant spheres in the endless cosmos because that's not how the world works. Which leaves, essentially, that she is in an illusion, formation, or is suffering from Great Spirit shenanigans. She can eliminate the illusion or formation because if it was powerful enough to sever her perception of her spirits and of qi itself, it would be some pretty nasty stuff. Nasty enough, in theory, to have Cai Renxiang ask her mother to come down and get rid of it. Unless she was whisked away by the attacker, in which case she's effectively powerless to stop it and so might as well use the strange rules of the place to her advantage.

Which leaves Great Spirit Shenanigans. She knows about the Dream realm and how that has different rules than actual reality, which is kind of what she thinks this is. The domain of a great spirit mucking about. She doesn't know which great spirit would do such a thing, but if she is trapped in a great spirit's domain, using the rules of that domain to get back is pretty much her only way forward.

This is kind of the reason why I've been really careful not to have Ling Qi think that she was in another dimension and rather have the final conclusion be that she's in another place. Ultimately, she knows she's trapped and that the best bet to get out is to continue forward.

I was curious how you'd keep LQ from becoming a more generic Star Wars insert with the dark side working on her and the typically more uniform skillset but this was an interesting handling with an awesome conclusion. Kudos.

Alright, I'd forgotten to update sect rankings, but that's done now, not any huge changes in the past month, but I'll probably start adding some other important emerald seas folks to the roster as we move along here.

Alright, we are now rank 768... which means that the second floor archives are theoretically free. And now we have access to the third level archives.

Next big push is to be under the 725 rank, which will reduce the third level archives and give us intermediate lessons. Fun times ahead!

The grounding cylinder next to her was closing in on a critical mass of dark side corruption. Hours of suffering from intense corruption had been placed inside, and now it was almost too dangerous to handle without proper equipment. Which was a shame as each cylinder had to be handcrafted, molded and filled and that took weeks of time.
I'm preeeetty sure some any Sith would be extremely interested in Dark Side saturated pieces of metal.
...just saying...

Tomes regarding how to conceal one's presence in the force were plentiful, as were guides and pamphlets on how to improve the telekinetic power of a Force push or pull.

There were even some Sith magic tomes she had been able to scrounge from dark recesses of the library dealing with the very promising aspect of forging, breaking, and using connections between places, items, and beings.

As such, there was hardly any tomes about the subject, and it took her long nights under the watchful eye of Overseer Ragate until a system of transcribing the spells found in the books of Sith magic to specialized sheet music was created.
Paper and, by extension, books don't exist in the Star Wars universe. They use holocrons.

Thanks for the catch
I mean holocrons were usually pretty rare things for the Jedi and the Sith, more so for the Jedi as they forgot how to craft such a thing, but another computerized medium might be more common than something written on paper.

So is Ling Qi going to fashion herself a companion using Sith Alchemy since that would seem like a thing she might do? Also it'll be weird once she meets a Jedi since her mindset would be alien to them.

Technically, they do just in the same way that modern people use parchment and calligraphy. Namely an old and expensive style for an ostentatious display of wealth usually. In some places though, where tech is hard to come by paper still exists as a primary medium.

The equivalent to books in Star Wars would be Datapads.

Holocrons are the repository of knowledge by Jedi and Sith that cannot suffer data degradation unless outright destroyed or poorly constructed, using crystal matrices aligned by using the Force to contain knowledge and accessed only through the Force.

Not sure about that, sure she's all about bonds but her learning Sith sorcery as a means to get home would likely put a dampener on building herself any friend or family there.

Well, good for Cai then! I am super excited for us to get our next power boost from the new arts too. I just want to see what Beast Kings' Savage Dirge does!

Sure, send the apparent twelve-year-old out into the desert of Korriban to find an aggressive pack of the carnivorous beasts and kill them. That sounded like a fantastic idea! Absolutely nothing could go wrong with that plan!

Doesn't the Sect normally send its disciples to harvest beast cores? I'm not sure why Ling Qi is being so disdainful of slaughtering beasts and harvesting their body parts.

I do like how she's getting into Sith magic and siphoning off the corruption though, that's really cool. Though I'm surprised she hasn't experimented with trying to feel positive emotions and seeing if the Force will respond to that. Maybe focus on her intense longing to go home? Not exactly positive, but at least it'll show her if the force will respond to more than just hate and anger.

It's the part about sending a 12 year old that ling qi is complaining about.
