FML; just when I barely convinced people to stop snapping at Archive 1 arts like goldfish...

Honestly, we'll have free archive 3 access by the point we have free time for new archive dives. :p

OTOH, it's looking more and more likely that we're going to slap DLS or ENM as a fade/stealth assist patch so...

Doesn't the Sect normally send its disciples to harvest beast cores? I'm not sure why Ling Qi is being so disdainful of slaughtering beasts and harvesting their body parts.
It's not so much being disdainful of slaughtering beasts and more about how the Sith are forcing a kid to go out and kill a bunch of the most dangerous predators in Korriban. The Sects allow for people to take on challenges and risks that the cultivators think they can take, while the Sith are purposefully throwing the acolytes at life or death situations for the purpose of weeding out the weak.

Ai Xiaoli
Alright, for my next art, here's my attempt of Ai Xiaoli, Gu Xiulan's mother. Very political-savvy. Used to live in Celestial Peaks. Loving mother. Probably Meizhen or Suyin levels of smol. Feel free to criticize what she's suppose to look like.

Used pencils for this one this time. Needed to draw the kind of details for her that pen would just ruin. Also rip left eye (paper got ruined on that side due to constant erasures)

Now I gotta think about who to draw next. Thinking about it, haven't drawn Xiulan yet.

@yrsillar moar art.

Huh, I wonder if the whole Bai heist thing with sun informing us was an attempt to get us to violate sect rules. Rule number 5 is "5. Disciples of the Inner Sect may not cross Imperial borders without specific dispensation and approval."

Not sure about that. Even if CRX had wanted us to go without Shenhua having ordered it, she'd still need her mother to get there in a timely manner and I don't see the sect denying Shenhua's right to send us where she will.

I don't think it meant internal borders. That rule seems to be more about forbidding disciplines from arranging unsanctioned barbarian hunts.

As for rule 5, do internal borders even count as Imperial borders? Much like Random Shinobi I sort of assumed that it was meant to avoid unsanctioned barbarian hunts that may prompt a larger than normal response.

I disagree. It almost certainly means internal borders. I doubt anyone cares about more dead barbarians. It's important to remember that the great sects are bastions of imperial power and their members are also part of the imperial military. Each one probably has a very specific area they are expected to operate in. Straying outside of that area is stepping on the toes of the local clans and then it becomes a political thing.

That is possible. The issue is less dead barbarians and more the barbarian response and its affect on the locals. Either way, if this was intended then it was a clever addition to the plan.

In that case the rule would read "sect border" and not "Imperial border".

And while the Sect wouldn't particularly care about dead barbarians, they certainly do care about their students that are bound to die in failed raids. It would be embarrassing if they somehow managed to lose a bunch of important noble heirs...

Surprised that Li Suyin that had such a small jump. After all she did breakthrough to 3rd realm.

I wonder if we could try obtaining the technique Gan Guangli(sp?) has that allows him to enlarge, and then teach it to our Big little brother. Then he'd be able to reach proper kaiju size.

That sounds like the equivalent of causing an international incident in an attempt to get one specific protagonist in trouble for playing hooky. Sure, you can, but there are probably easier and more dependable ways.
