Threads Of Destiny(Eastern Fantasy, Sequel to Forge of Destiny)

Voted best in category in the Users' Choice awards.
The absolute funniest thing about all this is that Renxiang fulfilled her most critical job

Being Unflappable in execution of administrative policy setting and execution, while coordinating her subordinates to stay on task even as a crisis was resolved

For all the zaniness going on...it ultimately should have failed to impede the actual agenda of the Summit itself

Yep, Ling Qi's doing all the insane secret agent shit because she can be risked. Renxiang is the one who's making sure this still remains a complete success despite a natural disaster attempting to launch a full fledged terrorist incursion.

Lol.

Lmao.

They are literally defined--politically--as "Our idealized version of the Height of the Weilu was the best part of history, and we should go back to being a bunch of tribal houses that don't bother each other and everything will be perfect"

I'm pretty sure lying like that is impossible in Shenhua's presence.
I think it's possible to say, it's just that saying "we're better off as a group of independent tribes" to your ruler's face is generally a bad plan.

I admit, I was low key hoping for +Talent from all this, but this is good too.

Now we count the costs of what we gained.

My hope is that we're capable of showing up to the meeting CRX is inevitably having still mildly on fire and smelling like a flash-boiled bog to apologize for the interruption and any inconvenience it caused.

Well that was absolutely beautiful and amazing. I love it so much, especially with how Ling Qi's other insights (the painful path is worth it if there is value in the goal, one will does not make a family) informally resound and shape her conclusions of this, letting her contextualize and persist through the storm of pain that is Xia Ren.

I hope SWD gets in at least a few good blows against General Genocide. So far the fight seems really one-sided.
She's still got her faded tattoos so there could be an angle there for him to exploit.
Might be a bit difficult. It sounds like a large part of Meng Delun's way is rooted in tradition and history as virtues unto themselves. Xia Ren has completely given herself to the idea of the eternal struggle, of the jackboot crushing anything and everything it needs to bring about Unity. That's a very hard thing fro Delun to exploit, especially since he might be putting up the fight for the sake of putting up a fight. The Weilu is in the past, it cannot be returned to. He is raging against the (perceived) death of what little tradition and history remains.
The Polar Nations have a good point.
Still Waters Deeping is in-line with the Polar Nation's viewpoint, from the perspective of Ling Qi. At least that's my reading. He has divested himself from wanting his family, his clan, his Community, and subsumed himself in the structures that rule them. He cares not for happy faces, for safe children and prospering teachings. Someone is violating the things his Power Rules over, and so he will break it to preserve his People, even while dragging his living clan into the grave.

These are the shots they took at the General that I noticed.
Empty blade, soulless blade, roar of devastation, disappear into the mist, into the shadow, as all beasts do!
The Empty Blade here is meant to refer to the General obviously, since SWD is less about a big punch and more of a drown-in-water-and-mist style.
The earth split, more canyons stretching to the horizon, weeping ichorous blood. A legion of crawling things, hideous things, buzzed and skittered and flew climbing the Generals armored body even as they wailed and died and burned, nightmares ripped from the bowels of the dream and sacrificed in their millions to slow a far greater monster by a hair. Space warped, mist
surged, waters rose to drown the world, and burned all the same.
Like this. Trying to drown the General in a wave of bodies, which I am guessing would normally have been more damaging to the General (despite us not having seen the actual damage yet) if not for the nature of this attack being away from SWD's true home base, and also the many other forces moving against SWD right this moment.

Xia Ren is a tool for all that she holds Sovereignty. Kinda like Jiao but in a way even worse.
Jiao's ability to recognize he had fucked up his way and pull back from it rings a whole lot stronger now we can see what the immediate fuckin consequences are of Being A Shadow. Two fuckin huge examples of "Oh They're limbs of others Ways"

Would not be suprise if Cai Shenhua's whole Ascension was fuled by having a constellation of skilled cultivator to enhance her ambitions, thereby becoming a Wuxia Spirit Voltron

Honestly, I kinda imagine the White Sky looking at this. Seeing these Sovereigns throw down, and say "this is why our cultivation is different. It's all in order to prevent things like this happening, and it is worth it."

And I'm not sure they're wrong. (Even though it isn't for us.)

I wonder if it's possible for a group of Cultivators with symbiotic Ways/Ways tooled to work through combining/in concert with each other, thus creating a more stable or spanning law.

It is probably possible but not particularly probable. The logistics to get resources for a single ascension are problem enough let alone multiple at once. We don't know the exact statistics on how often people ascend but I remember from way back that the last emperors ascension ~200 years ago was considered relatively recent so they can not be that often, lets say every 500 years give or take, and this is out of a nation of likely billions of people that has institutions, sects, based around making the most powerful cultivators possible. Having enough people with that level of talent and luck both in the same time period, as well as being able agree on something so completely as to make such thing possible are so vanishingly unlikely as to be all but impossible. Black swan events are a thing though so you can't count out the possibility.

You also need to think about egocentrism of the dragon mentality orthodox imperial culture and cultivation come from and how it would probably disincline such melded ways at the higher levels. But then again the general does exist.

A more achievable version of what you are thinking of may be something like the moon aspects, pieces that ascend at different times to become part of a grater whole.

Any chance you could remind me what that was?
Arc 2 in this thread.

Specifically, the thread voted to stay behind and talk to the leader of the spirits during the mason's war story dream, hoping to avert some bloodshed. The next update the thread realized they were dealing with something completely beyond not only Ling Qi, but also the plurality of the sect in-total if it was fully roused (the King of the Forest was a White in his prime, and in the dream was limited to just the power of a cyan, if it could draw on it's full power, it could stomp most of the sect's badasses on it's own), and decided, rather than sticking to that vote, bent the knee. An avatar of the bloody moon calls Ling Qi (and by proxy the voters) out for her lack of conviction.

This resulted in Ling Qi regularly questioning her ideals and motives for the arcs, looking back at that moment with regret. It was incredible for making Ling Qi more nuanced and interesting. But it's been years out of quest, and it's time to close the book on that part of the Ling Qi's character, and the way we got that was amazing.

LQ showing up to the end of the summit extra chipper despite being extra crispy and only having the use of 1 of 4 limbs:

If theres any fragments of Xuan Shi's gauntlets left, he's going to have some wild damages to see on them.
Gauntlets of Burning Ice.

+1 liminal combat +2 illusion protection - 3 deception attempts.

Smells faintly of winter and bittersweet dreams

The good news: But that won't matter because they'll all be fucking dead when the dust settles

We're fighting with General "Political power grows out of the tip of a sword"

Of course we're getting our goals in the middle of a purge

I can't say I'm a big fan of how the Advanced Insight is worded, but well, its take on Power is not something I'd disagree with. I just wish Xia Ren would get her filthy fire metaphors outta Ling Qi's Way
