Threads Of Destiny(Eastern Fantasy, Sequel to Forge of Destiny)

Actually, by the way, what was this about? I just wanted to glance at early stuff again just to think of how far she's come.

"if she had refused to go along to the sect, her talent would be removed. She hated the idea of something that was hers being taken away even more."

Is this just first-update LQ being silly? Because we've never really seen much about removing Talents ever even talked about, have we?

I think a cultivator could rupture someone's dantian/meridians by injecting your Qi. In a much more violent version of Meizhen's "how to feel your dantian" trick.
You would have to be a lot more powerful than the person you do it to, but that's a subterranean bar for MoI agents finding talented commoner kids.

Might be some early installment weirdness? Then again, the MOI does have the mandate to remove potential threats, and a Talent that refuses to take part in the system (whether it be clan or sect) would qualify as one.

Still extreme though, and I imagine even if the agent did take that step there would be several before that.

The other end of the worry is basically it feels like if this was really doable you'd have people, like, stealing Talents or granting them to others or etc, etc. It's entirely viable as a worldbuilding element, just not sure it fits the world actually built.

(Like there's plenty of metaphor in the possibility of outcasts, rebels, those against the system or too poor or unconnected to fight back having their Talents/potential for powers/etc stolen and used by powerful people as fuel for their increased power. I'd legit read something about something like that.)

They'd just break her dantien. Then she'll have no ability to cultivate.

I think 'taking someone's talent' is doable, but it's like 'taking someone's right hand' as done with a hatchet...it does not result in a usable right hand for anyone else, just the removal of it from the target.

Just you wait. :V

E: But more seriously, it feels like this being a thing would have knock-on effects. You'd have Tyrants taking the Talents from the children of families that got in their way, or infamous terrors who made sure that no commoner had the talent to question their rule or etc, etc.

Like, that shit would 100% happen. Not all the time everywhere, but it'd happen.

The threshold was 20. So this os either 1 or 2 degrees of failure. And the debuff will be minor, but affect the imperial side during negotiations. So less favour currency with some factions

So, what's the plan regarding this?
Because the imperial side, the MoI in particular, was already the faction we had the less favour with. And now it's worse.
It's hardly dooming, but it's certainly no good either.
Is there some general idea of what concessions we are willing to give to make up for it?

Honestly I don't think the MoI are really the biggest concern here. Like, their primary interest is avoiding excessive mixing, and our current plan at least uses established precedent with the Xuan to do just that since controlling access benefits us too.

The issue here is more likely to be getting assistance from the counts imo. Look at the things we've already discussed in negotiations - all of them have involved opportunities to trade and work with the White Sky in ways that require some degree of cooperation with the nobility - whether that be the Meng or the Wang or the Sun or the Han. The problem we face here is that we don't look as successful anymore, so they're going to be less inclined to help us out since they're less inclined to see this and us as going anywhere. So we'll have to give them more if we want help from them.

Ugh. Would it be too shameless to beg Yrs let me repeat the roll?
I cam make puppy (baby monkey?) eyes...

I'm not sure if it'll be as bad as that. It's not going to be good, so we'll have to deploy more of our leverage, but we do have it (leverage) in decent quantities.

We've already gained the possibility of all sorts of information that the Suns could find very useful, for instance, and that won't change just because a building project was a little substandard. Similarly unless it's them fucking up the geomancy/doing something with the stars, the "viewing the heavens" inducement still exists, and so on, for certain kinds of scholastic forces within the Counts.

It's not great, but we can make do, I feel.

Honestly, it'll prbably be minor malus to rolls for convincing the counts to help out. Hopefully, we can compensate with omake points and by choosinf to ask them things that'll benefit them too.

She didn;t expect her to awaken for some years yet. So young she didn't even have the vague flashes of impression the other two gave.

That granddaughter, Min Leidi, walked beside her elderly relative. She was a plain and unobtrusive sort of girl, but she looked like she had tried very hard to clean up, with her hair tied up in braids and a circlet of flowers. Her dress was pale green with white stitching. She was looking out into the garden with wide eyes. Ling Qi was let her mist out a bit, rolling along the paths and Sixiang had wrangled together a number of little fairies to drift around as lights, little bundles of qi too simple to cause any trouble with a greater moon spirit around.
So, replace ";" in didn;t and remove "was" from the second is my suggestion.
She greeted the others. For the other families, it took less time, simply because Ling Qi only greeted them and thanked them for their efforts. And ultimately there simply weren't that many, even with children, a handful of grandparents, and just as rarely spouses, there were less than a hundred people here.
Needs a comma IMO, but not sure.

Is it considered good or bad manners to point out spelling or grammar mistakes here?

Meizhen and Renxiang are like five foot.

Suyin is closer to four.

Eh? But the Cai always seem larger than life.
I've always imagined the boss doll to be of imposing stature.

Is the duchess also vertically challenged? I always imagined her as the big dommy mommy and prime minister as the Lil wifey.

Are they using illumination jutsu to extend their shadows and seem taller?

She's taller than LQ so far. Who knows how that might change. :V

(It probably won't, but it's amusing to imagine that LQ's powers are height based.)
I'm unironically hoping that Qi continues to grow taller as she advances in cultivation :V

Decent chances too as cultivation changes to ones body is mostly self image based and she sees herself as a giantess
