The first feels like something of a brush-off, and the private carriage has some mixed messages. (On one hand, it's on the way to something else; on the other hand, it's an extended period together in private.) This one at least communicates sincerity, with what it's sincerely indicating being open enough to finessing in the actual meeting as desired.
Plus if her mother comes to greet her then she'll have to introduce him, and she can't just keep introducing new gentlemen to her mother. Think of what people will say.

Ling Qi missing the impropriety as she pursues her time efficiency is the type of thing that Ling Qi and CRX share for different reasons...
Except! that would have been the case before the tribulation... now she'll see the impropriety coming and THINK she's okay brushing it off for the time-management gains anyway!
"I can manage to get stuff done on the go. I've grown so much since our tribulations *checks watch* a couple days ago!" she tells herself, "Meng Dan is a cultured, proper young man. I have more than enough business to fill the entire ride to the village, there won't even be TIME for things to get, uhhh, eMOTIONal."
Then she gets halfway down the road and she's ACTUALLY alone in a cab with a guy with a skyrocketing crush on her, his porn-reading moon spirit, and her own poke-it-till-it-wobbles moon spirit who ALSO has some form of crush on her and it really didn't sound like so much before she stepped in, but at least they're going straight to meet her mom, OH NO MOM
I need this SO BAD.

You know, if Xuan Shi is there (with LQ's mom) with Zhengui, and Bao Qian is also there with Hanyi. None of them should miss the implications, and they should resolve to up their own game.
This would be amazing to see Ling Qi realize what she's just done.
