[X] Grasp deep, grasp with hunger. (50% chance of success, Gain +20 Physical Cultivation experience, +1 XP to want. On Failure, lose Gaol spiritual cultivation xp and ???)

She wants to be better than that tho. How can she grow if we always decide to give in and vote greed?
You just said it, she Wants, one of the big themes of Ling Qi's character growth is that she wants a better world, she wants to care- she just can't bear to consider beyond the sort of vague abstract ideal. She wants that sort of drive, she wants to be strong enough where she can hold higher values… but she falters when the going gets tough, not because she's too greedy, but because she's too scared, because her desire to survive supercedes her desire to attain an ideal. She's not hungry enough.

There is 0 conflict in Ling Qi's character arc with greed, just like we actively got told and what we've seen- Ling Qi's problem is she doesn't Want those things enough. They're not real to her, not personal in the same way deprivation and cruelty are. If you want Ling Qi more committed to those ideals, you want Want- there is no backtracking here and all this indicates is a premature dismissal of a 'negative' quality to Ling Qi out of hand. Exactly what I'm tired of

When looking at our insights, Want is arguably the more important of the two. Ling Qi has two Want related insights, one of which is a advanced insight, and "only" one Motion insight. The SCS insight is pretty important though, and I personally dislike tripling our chances of failure since failing also means losing the Gaol bonus. That's effectively 3 XP in concept projects we could potentially be missing out on. (And finessing is just infinitely more cool than brute forcing stuff.)

First, we are only losing the +10 Spirtual XP that's it. We won't lose any concept bonuses or anything like that. Unless we lose that from the ??? effect but we can't know what that is.

Also trippling? I mean I guess that's technically correct but only if we use omake points to boost the die roll (which we will). But that's means comparing a 70% success rate to a 90% success rate. 30% fail rate is 3 times more than a 10% fail rate but those are still pretty good odds.

I'm also getting tired of people saying that Grasp deep is the brute force way. If we are brute forcing than we've lost the game with Huisheng. Just because grasp deep doesn't have great finesse doesn't mean it has zero finesse. The whole cultivation game is about finesse and subtlety. Will grasp deep be with less finesse? Yes because we can't be because we are grabbing more. But if we aren't subtle and sneaky about it we've lost the game!

[ ] Grasp carefully, and with great finesse (70% chance of Success. Normal Gaol benefits. +1 XP to motion, On Failure, lose Gaol Spiritual Cultivation, and ???)

I hesitated for a while, but I think the riskiest option is the one that makes more sense. Ling Qi only got where she is by taking great risks.

Fuck off with that. I'm voting for finesse because I think being sneaky with a thief is a more fun story than just smashing and grabbing.

I could easily say that you hunger people only care about the bigger rewards attached to it. It explicitly gives more XP.
Yeah echoing this as someone voting the other way. I love spreadsheets and numbers go up, I just like being dangerous about making those numbers go up. Besides the riskier plays LQ has done lately have been some of the most entertaining chapters we've gotten!

A slight lead, but it looks like most have decided.

Drink deep, and descend.

Ah sorry my bad I missed that it's only the spiritual XP bonus of the Gaol that would be lost on a whiffed roll, not the concept project XP doubling we receive from it. And, well, grasping with hunger is perhaps not purely brute force, but its definitely the more forceful approach of the two.

Chances are without boost.
