Threads Of Destiny(Eastern Fantasy, Sequel to Forge of Destiny)

Voted best in category in the Users' Choice awards.
I wonder what the Pure One told the Horned Lord. He convinced him to leave, but failed to do the same with other Sublimes. The Weilu suddenly did a 180 and started following the Dreaming Way as a method of also leaving this plane behind. The whole fable echos themes of the White Sky/NotIndia take on high level cultivators. That those who have narrowed themselves too much on the road to Ascension should not hold power.
So what makes Skelly Uncle the Arch-Heretic of the Dreaming Way?

[X] Complexity, weaving a smoother song from simpler measures

Likely leads to us focusing on few constructs but likely more autonomous or following complex orders,

This update was soo good. I have never thought of a name being a cut gem, but it makes so much sense. Names are often pretty, yet can never really encapsulate the history, the dirt, the messiness of events.

This reminds me of quantity vs quality ngl, I'm going with this one
sounds more like Harmony vs Melody to me.

Honestly, I can't quite choose which I want yet. I'm leaning on boosting our Harmony, but I do like the fact that our constructs are chaotic. Melody would keep that while strengthening the single actors, but I think that risks making too much of individuals which might hog the spotlight.

[ ] Coordination, making the disparate cacophony into a cohesive melody
[ ] Complexity, weaving a smoother song from simpler measures
Seems like first one will affect our fantoms directly adding to their attack, defence and support.
Whereas second will make our songs easier to use? More difficult to dispel? Hard to say, here could be a lot of interpretations.
Well, I am in favor of coordination because it could be interesting to see our phantoms acting in coordinated fashion.

Oh man! So much lore to dig through here! But first vote upcoming!

Cooperation sounds like we will be able to take all the different arts (the disparate cacophony in the metaphor) and get them to work together in a seamless whole (cohesive melody). This seems like the take an art or song wholesale and fit them together. You end up with like half a dozen songs playing at the same time but somehow it works and sounds good. All the effects all the time but we have to spin up each song one at a time maybe?

Complexity on the other hand seems like build-a-bear to me. In this one you pick and choose the effects and actions. This would be like you take the lunatic whirl bind effect and eagle god defiance attack and movement and combined them together. Gives us a more granular control over the constructs but also limits how many of them we can keep going.

Of course I could also be completely wrong.

Could the first make it easier if we have allies in our illusions so like buffing, disguising which attacks are from illusions, and giving direction to enable combos? Even if we didn't have allies it would probably make our illusions work together better.

Hmmm.
On Failure, lose Gaol spiritual cultivation xp and ???)
Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm.
"Understandable," said Shu Yue. "That would explain what I see."

"There is something, then?" Ling Qi asked.

"Not... possession, but there is a touch of something beyond the ice you welcomed in," Shu Yue said simply. "It does not command, but it may change you. Is what you look to gain worth the risk?"

Ling Qi didn't reply right away. She didn't want to give herself away too much. The old thief wasn't making any direct moves yet, but she did know that sometimes you had to spend more time putting a mark at ease.
HMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM.

Yeah, I think I'm pretty ok with whatever's going down here.

This is good stuff, too - now we only need to find a single point of Endings in the wild to hit Endings II in time for FSS+. I wouldn't be surprised if the FSS+ project itself would give that to us before we were done with it.

The Pure Ones Eight Virtues loathed war, despised cruelty, disdained want. This cruel illusion we lived in was our test, and we people of the forest failed it every day. Transcendence, unlike the crude hammer of ascension, was the path to a world united, a world in peace, and no man needed to wield the divine fire, needed to become the Hunter, to find enlightenment, and repair that which was broken.

Bloody and screaming, as all things are. Beautiful as all things are.

Time moved forward, always forward, and never back. Things aged, they changed, they warped, they rotted. They Ended. New things wore their remains like macabre cloaks, and pretended at reversal.

Know only that neither Ape nor serpent had our Lord's humility.
this is poetry damn.

likely, something along the lines of "Your presence as a totem preserves the stagnation of thought, and the suffering of your children through the institutional weight of your authority. Ascension is not transcendence, and you have made a world of the latter. "

Ancestors as weapons and resources preserve the families that arise around them, and they preserve the *ideas* that are core to there being. The Cruelty of the snakes and the wantonness of the Apes are products of their Ancestry, and they shape the world through ideas they preserve.

As a stealth cultivator, wouldn't it be good if a minion hogs the spotlight from us?

Welp, time to vote. I like complexity because I think it's more likely to lead to convincing decoy minions, which would pair really well with stealth. Will it actually? I dunno. But that's never stopped me before.
