Threads Of Destiny(Eastern Fantasy, Sequel to Forge of Destiny)

Voted best in category in the Users' Choice awards.
[X] If Su Ling truly desired to rid herself of her mother's traits, so be it. She hoped Su Ling would be careful and seek advice and help if she was going to undertake such a project though
[X]"Do you hate it because of it's link to your Mother, or do you hate it because it's wrong for you."

So this probably isn't going to win, but I'm still going to vote for it. I feel like we've seen evidence that Su King's fox traits have had both benefits and disadvantages towards her cultivation, but I don't think they are necessarily beneficial towards her Way. Therefore, I think both options are reasonably in character for Ling Qi, and would be happy not matter what wins. The option that I'm voting for I think slightly better represents the trust that she is placing in others now that her heart demon has been resolved.

Edited to add write-in.

[X] Su Ling was doing well already, she had already turned her blood to her own purposes. Why waste something you had already stolen? Wasn't it a better revenge to use your enemy's tools against them?

It is my opinion that it is more in-character for Ling Qi to express confusion. If your opinion is different that's fine, just don't tell me I'm not allowed to express my opinion

If this isn't your argument then what the hell is it?

You keep saying that option one will be somehow hurtful or inappropriate or other words to the effect of "it would be materially/morally wrong to pick option one"

I never told you you couldn't express your opinion, which is what you accused me of doing. I just argued that I think it's a messed up position.

That...comes out to largely the same thing. Saying that it is "messed up" to choose an option implies that it is wrong to do so, which implies that we shouldn't do it on moral grounds, which...I shouldn't need to continue.

Me thinking its messed up to mansplain Su Lings spirit blood to her is not the same as forbidding you to do it. Judging vs policing

It's just occurred to me that Su Ling's want to get rid of her spirit blood has parallels with the southern ice people's cultivation system which requires the sacrifice of the physical body. I wonder if she should try to ask them about it.

Yo okay hold up what

first of all, mansplain? Really? it's saying "Wait, you went to a lot of effort to subvert your blood already, why go this far now?". It's an understandable confusion based on what Ling Qi knows and her own values.

Secondly, if you're gonna judge me for voting a certain way, based on your own moral values, I feel it's fair to call you out on that. You can't pretend that that isn't a passive-aggressive way of trying to shame me into changing my vote.

No it's not clearing up confusion, its advice, by WOG. And yeah I would consider it mansplaining to advise on how she can use this to her advantage as if this isnt something she clearly she has grappled with her whole life and has wildly different priorities to Ling Qi in.

As for the rest of it ... cool? You think its shitty that I think your vote is shitty. Consider me called out. I dont think I've been particularly passive aggressive about my disdain for this vote.

No, you have not been passive aggressive, you have been just plain old aggressive.
That is not really an improvement.

...you're not understanding. It makes sense for Ling Qi to be confused about this, because the last she heard, Su Ling was pursuing less drastic means of cutting ties. She's not laying out how Su Ling can use her heritage to her advantage, that would be...weird and dumb. Again, she's saying "you stole this power fair and square, why are you now throwing it away?" Because Ling Qi fundamentally does not understand why anyone would do that.

Also...yeah, I think it's kind of shitty that you think my opinion is shitty. Buddy, your whole argument has been deep fried in moral superiority and it's kind of getting on my nerves.

Boy, I've been gone for an entire day, and come back at a great time. #sarcasm

Anyways, I'll go with approval voting the write-in

[X] Su Ling was doing well already, she had already turned her blood to her own purposes. Why waste something you had already stolen? Wasn't it a better revenge to use your enemy's tools against them?

No you aren't understanding, the author has literally said we are giving advice. This is not a matter of Ling Qis confusion no matter how much you want Ling Qi play dumb. And yes I do find it weird and dumb

Yeah that should probably tip you off that you're reading something wrong because Ling Qi isn't that dumb, nor that insensitive. Sure yes, it's giving advice, but that advice us coming from a place of confusion and personal values, which is why it's phrased as a question.

Giving advice from a place of confusion. Awesome! Definitely the thing to do unprompted in a sensitive situation.

Of course this vote wins.

...are you being deliberately obtuse?

Ling Qi thought Su Ling had resolved this issue and accepted her spirit side, the fact that this is happening now feels like a sudden reversion. That confusion, coupled with Ling Qi's own values of "use every source of power you can" combine to form the question that is option one, where she encourages Su Ling to keep down the path she was on because it seemed to be working.

I've explained this a good five times now. I dont know how else to say it.

And don't think I don't notice you deflecting. Every time I try to refute one of your arguments you either claim that wasn't your argument or just ignore everything I say to keep hammering on this "it's morally wrong to give our opinion here" point.

It's getting aggravating

None of this is substantiated and is entirely based on your own supposition. Even if it is an accurate read, Ling Qi's uninformed observations and personal views on power do not justify her butting in here. Which is the exact same sentiment I expressed at the start of this argument.

"Explaining" it ad nauseam as if I didn't get it and respond to it the better part of a day ago is pointless.

Yeah fuck right off with this gaslighting.

See this is why you come across as saying we aren't allowed to share our opinion, this insistence that we somehow have to justify taking that first option.

Yeah fuck right off with this gaslighting.
...buddy

You called Yue a narcissist, then went off on a tangent about China instead of actually engaging with her. You've spent this entire conversation with me dodging questions and simply reiterating your premise. You've repeatedly and aggressively refused to engage, accusing me of gaslighting is a bit rich.
