With her load out of beam cannon, beam saber, composite life fiber armor, back mounted thrusters and beam shield, I'd consider EFSF.... I mean ESSF CRX-002 a general purpose offensive unit built for mobility, ranged bombardment and CQ skirmishing rather than a support unit.
You forgot her group buffs. She's a mobile support/bombardment unit that can also skirmish. Reminds you how impressive her duel was with the G7 Shishigui was, dueling is her tertiary skill set. If she had someone like Bai Meizhen or Xuan Shi to be the vanguard/tank while she buffed and attacked from range they might have been able to 2 v 1 him. Until he pulled that sacrifice bullshit of course.
Truly, Cai Industries have brought entirely new levels of meaning to Mobile Suits.

Honestly I'm living for this forge of destiny X gundam dream. That'd be a hysterical omake if it was written in an abridged format. Sun Lilang even kinda makes a good Red Comet to fight CRX as Amuro if it's in UC. Or it could be set in Gundam Seed so we can have like 80 different special mobile suits. In this scenario would Zhengui, Hanyi, and Sixiang be different colored Haros?

We could have had it. We can still live the dream. The Black Loom Gargant is possible. We just need to read the book.

Are we the winter mafia?
No, that's wrong.
Are we about to be the winter mafia?
"Well, no trouble," Bao Qian said breezily, it was unfortunate, he'd have liked more time to work on her. Especially as she would be gone for a month. "I'd wanted to discuss some theming for future performances. You see, I've gathered information, and I believe that your appeal could be improved during the winter, if you present yourself as a ward against its ills for those places which host you. Do you think that within your sphere?"

The south Emerald Seas was still a deeply religious place, there was a strong benefit to playing into that market.

Hanyi frowned in thought. "I guess. I don't really understand spirit stuff. I think I could probably bully little spirits and stuff into being nice though. Do you think people will like that? Won't it make bigger spirits mad?"

"I wouldn't present it as bullying," Bao Qian said with a straight face. This girl was really not half as elegant as she liked to pretend. It was amusing in its way. "We would be careful not to intrude into larger spirits territories, but there are few major spirits of winter in the lowlands. Besides, would their adoration not make you the 'bigger' spirit?"

"Huh, that sounds pretty cool," Hanyi said with a grin. "Like this doofus and the village."
Bao Qian nodded, having little idea of what she was speaking, but context gave him a guess. He had noticed that Hanyi had little direction to her domain, an oddity for a spirit at her level. He may as well help out. "Because of that, I-"

"Mhm, I don't have a place of my own, but that's okay. I like traveling!" Hanyi agreed. "And I already promised a whole lot of people I would sing for them you know? If I don't give them my blessing who knows what'll happen when winter comes? I gotta keep my word."
Because it sounds like we are about to be the winter mafia.

I can just imagine some winter sprites walking up to a farmer and going "nice field you got there boss, shame if something happened to it."

Eh, feudal government structure is basicly a protection racket already (some might argue that government in general is that), what's a tiny bit of winter insurance on top of it. :V

As the government there's no real need to be coy about it. The mortals and even Reds in our territory are completely at our mercy and they can't even leave if we turn out to be abusive. Obviously LQ would never want to take advantage of that vulnerability and both CRX and Su Ling would be furious if we did but, at the most basic level, a noble has complete de facto power over their subjects.

In standard Xianxia terms the incentives line up such that we are once again the antagonists who are trying to nurture and protect the resources that the protagonists will try to steal in order to fuel their cultivation.

Well if Bao Qian's idea of Hanyi as a protective winter spirit gets off the ground, i would assume we will have Hanyi receiving regular offerings and prayer to keep our people safe from, well, mainly herself when we come down to it, she being the biggest representative of winter around (if you discount Ling Qi herself).
While Zhengui gains offerings and prayer to make sure summer is as productive as possible.
Give it few centuries and the Ling clan dual spirits of winter and summer (well, regrowth, mainly, but close enough to a random farmer) could become relatively significant players among agricultural settlements of Emerald Seas.

You are right in a sense. CRX sees herself as a leader. So in her mind, her primary duty in or out of battle is to enable (or support) her subordinates to achieve their objectives, and actually drawing her sword is secondary to her command / administrative responsibilities. CRX's invigorating light ability didn't realy fit the gundam parody, but even if it did, CRX is still general purpose because she's equally likely to offer aid, or engage at range or in melee as the situation requires. So I'm loathe to use that one buff to call her a primary support and tertiary deulist. I 'd argue that CRX is primarily a dps striker with tertiary support because her support toolkit is shallow and she is just so good at melting faces.

I'd also argue that vs the g7 shishigui, CRX wasn't a support lacking a vanguard, but rather a vanguard lacking a support ( as LQ was busy engaging barbarians and assassins and meeting Jaromila). Yeah CRX might have been better able to burn down g7 shishigui if she had best snek to tank, but that just proves that her primary skill set is dps. As a support to best snek, would CRX be better or worse at saving Meizhein from suicide bomb than LQ or say Ruan Shen (in that battle he used vine armor and flower shield to mitigate and spring song to rejuvinate).
I'd compare CRX's invigorating light aura to Bless from DnD. Mechanically, any attack or saving roll allies make get bonus dice. Narratively allies are reinvigorated and a temporarily better at everything. It's powerful its omni-ness, (boosts everything, useful anytime), a general purpose buff for someone without a full suite of support abilities.

But if you need to reduce the dmg output of attacking barbarians, cripple the movement speed of a bandit raid, reduce enemy visibility and boost ally speed to facilitate escape or mitigate ally casualties from a kamikaze strike... Call LQ because her robust support toolkit can weaken and control enemies and mitigate dmg to allies.

If you need to drop the hurt hammer on... well, anyone...
-vaporizing bandits with a death ray,
- assaulting boss shishigui with a lightsaber (or a triggered agent venom)
-assaulting boss bai archer with a lighsaber
-assaulting Liling with a lightsaber
-dropping a precision laser strike on a barbarian summit... Call CRX, because her extreme mobility, variable strike range and personal shielding allow her to put damage on the target in any situation. She literally comes in like a wrecking ba... er meteorite. And her abilities leave nuclear shadows. Ergo CRX nukes shit. She can support allies, and her armor and shield allow her to operate as vanguard, but CRX excells at burning devastation . (Dps striker with tertiary support functionality).

Like, at basic level human/spirit relations in the empire work lot like a protection racket (with exceptions, yes).
You do the ceremony, say the prayer, and give the offerings.
And in return, the spirits don't wreck your shit.
It is my understanding that this is usually done by priests (in areas large/rich enough to have dedicated priests), or a local lord.

But what if it wasn't?
What if some spirit (who, just for example and in no way related to spirits living or dead) locally in charge of winter weather decided to provide protection to a fief, but instead of going the usual route, comes in person to give their blessing and gather the offerings?
What would the people feel about this?
Would people be annoyed? (this is the lords job great spirits dammit)
Would they be honored? (personal attention from the local gods)
Would they be angry? (how dare they)
Would they just be confused? (what the hell is going on?)

Especially as we start getting into the later parts of Green, the characterization of people as fulfilling certain team comp roles is a mistake. Domains will become a greater and greater part of our power and thus the themes we bring to bear are more important than their specific implementation. From this perspective CRX is a (mostly Christian) angel, acting as an intermediary to protect people from a god's direct attention. She is also something of a martyr and her relationship to mortification of the flesh is subtle but present ("cutting Liming's fingers"). I would not be surprised if she eventually starts manifesting not-stigmata as she comes increasingly to terms with her childhood trauma and begins to reconcile with Liming.

Well the rest of the choices for this arc will hopefully be a little more contentious.
honestly? slam dunks are nice. i had my fill of contentious votes last month with the intersect vs. diplo thing. i don't wake up in the morning going "gosh, i hope i can have some knock-down arguments in threads of destiny today." keep serving up these softballs.

Some things should be votes despite the fact that there is no world where the thread doesn't take a certain choice. Just because a vote isn't contested doesn't mean it was a bad vote.

Sometimes SV votes for the weirdest surprises, so seemingly uncontested votes are needed even if only to check for the occasional bout of SV genius/madness.

A big problem with combat stealth is that its fundamentally boring: the opponents' only viable reaction is to search for the stealthed character and there's only so much diversity that you can build into this (this principle also goes for zoning via speed, albeit less so). At the same time LQ's method of stealth is really obvious, as she creates a massive fog bank to hide inside.

What if we had a stealth tech that gets stronger over the course of the fight, allowing LQ to relatively easily be spotted at the start of the fight but have that get harder as time goes on? This sort of shift in the dynamic of the fight would make sense with stacking buffs/debuffs a la Dirge of the Fallen Peak from UGM and should help keep things fresh as LQ's defense becomes fundamentally different by the end.

Enter a version of Frozen Soul Serenade+
Spring's End Aria (C-Rank)
Duration: Long

The first notes of the users song herald the end of warmth, draining the heat from the area and around them and crystalizing the moisture in the air into snow and ice. Enemies within the singer's domain find their qi growing sluggish, sapping their spiritual defenses and bolstering the singers own. Qi expended in failed assault of the singer drains away, flowing into the singularity of cold created by the singers voice. This applies a D-rank qi drain and restores the users qi by an amount equal to the failed technique's rank reduced twice. Those whose dantians have been fully drained find their flesh frosting over and their blood running cold as they are lulled into the final sleep.

Echoes of Absolute Winter: (B-Rank)
Duration: special

A technique used in tandem with Aria of Springs End, if activated at the same time, the Aria carries an echo of true winter, stilling the very air around the singer with its freezing chill until blood grows sluggish and flesh cracks. Attacks targeting the user, or which have an area of effect overlapping with Aria's have their penetration reduced by one rank as the cold devours the energy of the technique or attack. Similarly, Cold or Dark techniques used by the singer against those in range of Aria have their Hit or Penetration enhanced by one rank, as chosen by the user. In addition the qi restoration of Spring's End Aria is improved to technique rank reduced once.

Hoarfrost Refrain: (B-Rank)
Duration: Long
Damage: C
The user's song rises into the howl of of a blizzard in the depths of winter as they focus the expression of their will upon their enemies within their domain. The song spreads through their blood and meridians like a frigid poison seeking the heart of its victims warmth, inflicting D rank qi drain, and granting the user E rank qi regen so long as the effect remains. Any qi drain suffered by the victim applies a small stacking debuff towards their Combat Perception, Speed, and Dispel. The chill clings long after the technique ends, the insidious cold crawling ever closer to the victim's heart until at last it stills or the technique is dispelled.

Call to Ending (B-Rank)
Duration: instant
Damage: B(Special)

The final verse of the Serenade is a quiet, sad thing, lacking the furor of earlier verses. Upon Singing it, a single target within the singer's domain which suffers from Hoarfrost Refrain feels a terrible cold as the last remnants of their freezing qi flees their body. This effect ignores armor, and the qi drained changes based on the degree to which Hoarfrost Refrain has weakened them, removing the debuffs at the same time.

The big changes are to Hoarfrost Refrain and CtE, with the idea that we slowly debuff our enemies' ability to contest our zoning and stealth until they are helpless, at which point we can use the new CtE to fully drain them from afar. Obviously we need to make it hard for them to get rid of it and a debuff to their Dispel makes more sense than a buff to our Resist as that benefits all our techs while rewarding people who have friends (which connects to LQ's association of Cold with Loneliness). Hoarfrost Refrain also becomes another persistent field instead of a single target poison. It still sort of acts as an opener for CtE's finisher but in a less binary way to discourage HR=>CTE=>HR=>CTE spam which no one wants. Plus a "Refrain" should be a stacking effect.

That said I also want to standardize our range to be anywhere within our domain to make ranges easy to remember. I also feel like focusing on qi drain instead of mixing and matching damage and qi drain. However I recognize opinions will differ here.
