Btw, I am curious. I might've missed/forgotten an explanation, but as a retainer of the Cai, do we have any other obligations besides the intersect tournament/Ranking 5 place below our Lady/Not embarrassing the Cai name?
Cai will tell us if it comes up. Currently just become as badass as we can be.

I have a question to the glorious planners: why did we forego STR for DEX? And for EPC, why Qi over say, Stealth (freeing training slots for other stuff)?

Dex is a godstat along with Wits. It's not as dominant as it was, but yiu can look at the derived stats formula to see why people would rather get Dex upgrades if possible.

Stealth needs to be used for missions for the epc bonus sux to trigger and skills and attributes can't be rolled more than twice a turn. Since missions already roll stealth twice, might as well choose qi to roll.

I expect that regularly meeting up with CRX and sparring with each other is still a thing we're technically obligated to do, though obviously the second requires the paperwork to get done first and the new system doesn't actually include social actions in the monthly cultivation plan, so there's no equivalent of "locked social actions" that's come up yet.

So no actual concrete duties right now, but as CRX is our boss she can of course give us new jobs and duties.

We're still subordinate to Renxiang, though, so she'll continue to make a claim on our time, at the very least for training and sparring, but that could easily extend to social functions and even proper shenanigans and intrigues - we have 300 ranks to climb, so there's a lot of work to be done managing the enemies that will make.

It's not such a bad thing to have some structure though. Goodness knows, Ling Qi isn't the greatest at finding ways to shake down peers and rivals on her own.

Voting for this plan primarily because I think we need to find a new art to balance our build under the new system. Specifically, I'm concerned that none of our attack abilities hit abilities which we have two strengths in. Music seems to be our best attack at the moment, but we don't really have good ways to increase our Manipulation or Presence aside from Argent Current and general Spiritual Cultivation. Given that our primary attack ability is music, and Manipulation and Presence are the skills which combine with music, I think we should find an art which allows us to train them (presumably while also adding other bonuses). Alternatively, find a musical art which keys off a different mental/social ability. Maybe Music + Wits and Music + Manipulation? I think that would scale better with Ling Qi's current stats.

Additionally, I think that we might want something to increase Strength some for the speed boost, though I'm less sold on that, as direct strength really doesn't seem to mesh with Ling Qi's build very well. Better to find something which replaces Strength with a different ability if possible for speed.
If you look at the hit values, several of them are pushing towards B rank due to Qualified Bonuses which apply conditionally, several of those same bonuses being very easy to get in combat like Cold Arts and Music Arts.

Looking for an art which modifies our base attributes runs into the issue that it will only change the derived attributes which really matter when it pushes the base stat a rank upwards. Better to find things which boost the derived stats like TRF or FSS. And even then such arts take away from our training time. We only have 18 turns counting this one before the inter-sect tourney, so spending time outside our core compliment needs to be considered thoroughly and debated as thoroughly.

Can we get something to patch the Presence: F (10/20)? It's killing our spirit penetration and is our worst stat. Patching it at least to D would help significantly.
Training, consistently. That's one of the biggest things in this system, spending consistently committed time training something we're weak in.

There's... Not really much else that is possible besides Tribulations(narrative super challenges which can risk death or permanent injury).

For now, I'm going with this. But it depends on @yrsillar confirming that archive runs still work like in the first quest: we need one action to look at the index, and another action to choose an art and start training it.
If with the monthly turns we could now get the index and then a subvote on what to get (if anything) then there is less hurry to check the archive.
The second way is how I recall it working in the first quest, to the salt of many because we basically had to go there and grab something. What we need(and I view it on the same level of need as the need for air) is to be able to go there and look at our options, then walk away to consider it all and think up where we can go with that new info.

Kinda falls under not embarrassing, but gaining information on other factions and being her Problem Begone Stick. Sorta, it hasn't been explicitly stated by her but it is pretty much why she hired us as a retainer, so it is more an obligation in that fuzzy in between state of self imposed and simply expected.

Been way to busy to post the last few months, but I'm very excited about the new thread! It'll take awhile to get used to the new system when I don't have a ton of time, but so it goes. I'm going for Blend because I like training stamina more than strength, and while I don't want us to get a new art in the near future there's nothing wrong with investigating - plenty to like about at least seeing our options. I'll vote against getting any new arts for the near future though.
 
The 2AP per turn training limit has been removed (or at least i can't find it anymore in the rules)

Experience for these is determined by rolling a d6 for each slot assigned to the skill or attribute. With the exception of Qi, skills and attributes may not roll more than two dice per turn for advancement.

Control F that in cultivation tab, it's still there. No plan changes needed. @Arkeus @Alectai @BungieONI

Yrs' example just is a bit wonky, it was always like that I think.

A minor adjustment to Plan Gamma has been made, mostly in attribute finangling because we're getting an embarrassing amount of Qi automatically anyway.

The net difference is -1 Qi training and +1 Spirit Ken training.

Don't forget the fundamentals here.

Yeah, I do think @BungieONI should switch his plan to train Dodge rather than dance, as much as I want to train Dance given Dodge is a low hanging fruit that will give us a great boost to power.

Still, Dance is probably not bad as long as we don't get in a fight this month.
