Threads Of Destiny(Eastern Fantasy, Sequel to Forge of Destiny)

Pilgrim makes me think of the Puritan getup with the bonnet. Also the religious connotations seem completely and totally unrelated to Ling Qi and anything she's about.
How about Starlit Winter's Songstress?
That particular flavour of the word pilgrim is like ridiculously US centric...
Ling Qi also is pretty religious actually, local beliefs just don't share the bombastic aesthetic of modern organised religions. Her skill at dealing with spirits and her relationship with the moon almost make her the equivalent of a priest snorting Jesus energies.

I can't shake the mental image that LQ's dress is gonna secretly destroy other inferior dresses LQ wears like some horrific slug.
What other dresses are you refering to? I dont think Ling Qi has ever changed her dress since she got the Cai Dress. Especially when that design change feature got added on, ridding even the excuse of a style change as a reason to change to some other dress.

She used to have those Sect Robes and the one she bought together with Gu Xiulan.

There hasn't been any story mention about those for a looong time. :V

I don't know about this name business but if it has to do with the impressions she gives... I admit that music is pretty predominant in our arts but it doesn't quite feel like a theme but more as a tie with the bonds and feeling she had for her mother figures. When I think of Ling Qi, the theme I get is a paradoxical one: When she feels helpless her fear makes her take actions that leave her isolated and lonely, she hates this so she is desperate to grow strong but she is reaching the point where she realizes that strength can be isolating too. So she can't stop because she is afraid that if she is not as strong as she can be she will regress to being 'selfish' and that her focus on surviving that situation will leave her alone but as she keeps moving forward she will suffer the same fate for a different reason as she overcompensates. A damned if you do and damned if you don't situation; the things she is terrified of losing due to weakness are in the end casted aside in pursue of strenght.

If this name thing is suposed to represent who she is... well, now that I think about it, this doesn't quite answer it either. This is more what her current conflict is. Still, for all that she has a lot of music and moon arts, they don't really encapsulate who Ling Qi is. One is more a medium to communicate her inner struggles and the other is what kind of situations and trials she has run into so far.

Looking at the future art's I think SNR would temper the forever moving and changing ways of the insight for SCS like a more broad and refined if exotic Argent Mirror
together with WHR's theme's and focus on Boundaries, Security and Family
I believe she'll come to some sort of epiphany reconciling her internal struggles

Let's use an example that's in-between these two. What would you consider some follower of Dionysus that is devout enough to get permanent power boosts from great parties? Because Ling Qi gets a pile of cultivation successes for doing stuff her moons like.

I'd point to Eight Phase Ceremony's description as a better example myself.

Granted to those smiled upon by some aspect of the moon, in order to bring them closer to their patron.

That explicitly has us receiving it as an act of divine favor and practicing it as a form of worship. It is a specifically religious ceremony.

Additionally Ling Qi being the one who bargained with the mushroom was the others deferring to her on spiritual matters. What is a spiritual expert if not a priestess?

We no longer can take any stillness aligned insights from SNR. Be thankful we can get an insight at all from the other parts, yrs was kind of a softy there.

Beside "tempering" an insight would just lead to Heart Demons. You can probably reconcile em with other parts of you, which is kinda what advance insights is, but you cant temper them any more then you can stop doing any other things that makes you capable of living and being who you are.

Mmm well the lessons inherent in it will make it less likely for her to jump the gun and feel like she's shackled like with what she thought the promise entailed regardless that we cant gain an insight from it, still think she can make a sort of reconciliation/epiphany learning the both of them together and make a suitable Name out of it.

PLR is probably a good choice to help her realize that there is more to growth than cultivation, with those experiences having her become better for them regardless.

When was the last time she enjoyed herself?

on the name discussion... I think a lot of people are fixated on Ling Qi's means and techniques more than her actual essense. I think that, rather than looking at songs and phantoms, her name is something that should e defined by her domain. How about...

Something like [Frozen peril's hearth] or [cold fortress of repose]

Aren't the stars toxic enemies of mankind in this setting?
Yeah, but we've seen extensive star motifs in Arts that don't involve Stellar qi at all. The Falling Star for instance. Evanescent Anthem of the Night's Parade references it's inspiration being the gathering of spirits when the stars align;
On the storm washed shores of savage seas, there are legends among certain hinterlands villages that on nights when the stars are right, spirits gather for a grand parade or on certain terrible nights, to go to war.

So it still doesn't seem inappropriate even if Ling Qi isn't a horrific radioactive monster trying to kill mankind.

Yeah.

Where the star stuff really comes in I think is through Ling Qi's connection to the Hidden Moon, who essentially claimed dominion over the stars and their toxic energies. So that stellar energy Ling Qi uses is basically making a claim of connection to the Hidden Moon.

Yay! What we should learn from this is that it behooves the playerbase to pump Yrs full of the drugs that make them warm, fuzzy and kind (Mad Men taught me LSD is good for that), but not so many that they can not write tasty tasty story for us to heartily consume.

This... this may require some experimentation.

we can record the doses and result in spreadsheets and make graphs.

OMG YES! Lets get Yrsillar some drugs and record their observations on the effects!
