I have a big question:

We know that you become a less complicated individual as you climb in power, eventually needing to become a single concept if you want to reach the greatest heights of power.

We also know that Insights are permanent.

So what happens if our insights don't fit into a single concept (as they already really don't)? Do we slowly discard them along the way? Are we just locked out of the highest Realms?

There are ways of removing insights but that's rarer than finding a grain of rice in a desert, nah we have em for keeps just have to resolve our heart demons along the way to keep em in coherency.

[X] Even walking alone, footfalls echo beyond your hearing

It's worth keeping in mind that this doesn't mean that your echo will be heard, only that echo's stretch past what you yourself can hear.
There is no contradiction to loneliness here, only a warning to be mindful of things beyond your immediate perception.

This is an interesting one. It's kind of a "well, duh" statement but the point of the insight is that it's something internalized which Ling Qi struggles with. At worst, this might help Ling Qi actually recognize the consequences of her actions rather than needing them spelled out.

Also serves as something that could help Ling Qi understand CRX, given the girl's loneliness.

Been thinking.

>Though a path might be hard and lonely, it has worth if you can present something of beauty to those you care for at the end.

>Even walking alone, footfalls echo beyond your hearing

These two insights' wordings are very related. How would they feel together?

A theory: footsteps propagate in every direction, including forward. You are not just presenting something at the end of the road, with details and nuances of how you got there forgotten and forgiven, but your every action will echo in the end. Therefore, your every action should be something you are proud to present in the end.

That is a very harsh reading though. I'm not a fan.

The insight actually looks super useful, but like.

I have no idea what art it came from. I'm guessing it's our social music art that lets us eavesdrop, but, I'm sorry, but it didn't have enough impact on the narrative to really matter. I remember the argent arts better than I remember this art and we literally have not used them for the entirety of this thread.

It just doesn't make sense to me that Ling Qi would have learned anything from it.

Ling Qi probably used this art more than any other (outside of training) tbh. It's just that the narrative we see on screen is combat and personal relationships focused. She doing her actual job - performing for guests - is largely off screen.

Contrary to an art like trf this art didn't clash as much in the narrative and therefore people think it wasn't as important.
I disagree and would argue that this art was at least as important as our big 4 combat arts. The problem being that the use wasn't obvious and most of the use happened off screen.

So I have to agree with aule.

This is the fourth or fifth time it's shown up or so. It was in a fight at one point, either Li Suyin adventure or bandit encounter, can't remember. I think the latter because I remember making jokes at the time about Ling Qi watching people die from their own vantage point using the very song killing them as a vector of perception. HDW had at least a brief mention at one Cai party. Ling Qi used the art at the Luo hunting party, somewhat. She used it to stare at other people when assembling for the sect military exercises.

And now she's being a weirdo and contemplativly cultivating the art which functions chiefly by other people noticing it in the middle of the village.

Which makes me wonder, think our new art's lent IFF could exclude enemies from HDW's tech if we wanted to? It'd be a way to keep close tabs on allies without alerting enemies. Niche application, but those are fun.

The problem wasn't that it was used, the problem is that it made zero impact. I just read its name and I already don't remember it.

Like, let's be real, I don't even know how many times we trained it or at what point it got better because I don't get involved in the planning votes anymore. Can anyone point me to just one instance where I can go: 'ah, yes, Ling Qi meditated on the themes of this art and it meant something to her' because honestly I'm racking my brains and I can't.

Don't get me wrong, I personally love the insight, but unless you can convince me that this art had a clear progression and clear impact on Ling Qi herself that I somehow completely missed and that would justify Ling With obtaining the insight she did, I gotta vote no.
