I'm not sure if there's a solid strategic justification for returning to the village instead of waiting or heading to the third village without taking Zhengui or Xiulan into account. If returning can't be justified without them, she's prioritizing them over the mission.
We can receive news there, but not quite as easily. We're in the most central location atm. It also lets us respond in different directions most equitably, which is important if we don't know which one the most pressing crisis is in.
Good point that getting messages isn't strictly limited to waiting though.
The strategic justification for returning to her village is that it's the weakest village currently, and the one closest to the dangers. All other villages have the 'full' force of the sect, only hers has a partial force. As such, if there is an attack on a village, we can count on the other villages being able to somewhat fight them off longer than we can count on ours fighting it off.
Moreover, the other village called for reinforcements just like this one. If it's wrong to back them up then it was also wrong to come here and also the messages about reinforcements were a bit pointless.
So...
Not 'just like this one'.
Here is the thing: we have new data. The raid on Shen Hu's village was 'attack from multiple green and dozen of yellow as well as hundred reds' rather than 'attack from a dozen red'. If it happens to
two villages at once, then it means it's a coordinated effort that could happen to three villages, and we can't contact our own village from here.
Ling Qi is the one who would be supposed to contact it, as far as I know.
If we believe the other village is being attacked by a force even half as strong as the one which attacked Shen Hu's, then we can assume our duty is to go back to our own village because shit is fucked and something is going we need to be at our village for. If we assume that it's a much much lesser force, then we can assume we want to go back to our own village, because it's the least well defended of the tree, and as such need more help right now.
Basically, there being already one outsized attack on a village change the data we have, and Ling Qi's response must change accordingly if there are hints toward a
second such attack. It's not the same.
