The Long Founding (Warhammer 40k)

Come on just three more votes for Plan: Fuck it democracy time to be on top!

Why do people think that a democratic revolution is the solution to problems here?

I get that the imperium mainly cares about tithes, but local nobility will get ideas if the chapter threatens their livelyhood, riches and power, even if they don't act against the chapter, nothing stops them from using their influence to mess and give the chapter work elsewhere away from the revelions they are suposed to stop

I really wish for Atherea(?)'s Democracy to end up being of the Athenian model which makes much more sense than 21st century model existing in 40k
Can't wait for a Chapter that is fundamentally opposed to the existence of any female outside of the home or in a temple.
Chapter that denounces the Ecclesiarchy for their use of the Sisters of Battle. Yay!

Okay...And?

First, might as well argue that Athenian model makes even less sense than our idea of democracy surviving in any recognizable form into 40 millenium, 40k just doesn't make much sense, and it's quite shocking just how similar 30 and 40 millennium are, with one of few major differences being the religion thing in the Imperium society.

Second, I have no problem with Athereal democracy and general culture to be different from our ideas, de facto, I would much prefer it to be as different as possible, with the reference to Athens being just superficial. But again, 40k just doesn't make sense and the fact that things like Vikings/Nordics exists in any shape or form we would be able to recognize is just straight up silly.

Third, it's still fundamentally democracy, that much we can tell. Democracy definition:
a system of government by the whole population or all the eligible members of a state, typically through elected representatives.
Otherwise, it wouldn't be mentioned, about how people in-universe have reservation towards democracies due to Chaos.

Also, if you don't want Athereal so much, why vote for plan that still includes it?
I understand if you don't like the idea of spreading democracy, but supporting the leading plan, that still includes the spreading of it, just by Ultramarines, instead of by Word Bearers, is just bizzare.

I guess, there's higher than not, probability that the Smurfs wouldn't be actively spreading it, let alone start full blown, planetary system changes like the Bearers, but still...The Chapter will be influenced, quite heavily by the Athereal culture, so again, why even vote for it, when you can just critize the plan, give your counter-arguments to the idea, and then watch what happens next.

It just bizzare to me, that you apparently don't like the idea, but you still will support it...Because it uses different Primarch as it's organ implant genetic base?

Word Bearers are preachers and would expand said idea further and quicker, the Ultras while they may extend it, are known for statecraft, among others, so they would extend a democracy (if they do) in a way that can survive in the imperium.

Which is a point for it, and it is not weird that seeing that something will pass to choose what you consider to be "the lesser evil". Myself have changed my vote from the alpha legion (which should be able to root rebelions before they happen) to the plan of the Ultramarines because i prefer it to the possibility of word bearers here.

...I wonder if we can have a Numenorian-lite Space Marine Chapter.

Place them on an Eldar Maiden Planet and have them live three times the expected lifespan of an average Space Marine.

Or, have a Japanese/Chinese/Korean Space Marine chapter of White Scars gene-seed.

A question: depending on how this Astartes Helldivers came out, could they help stopping the mess that made Krieg a wasteland?

That is what i hope, they are rebelion crushers, if the Ultras win, i only see them expanding Atherena democracy, if the cause of rebelion is the rulers ineptitude to rule, and even then i think they would just replace them with people that actually does their work

Given how much Ultramarines take from their homeworlds, their administrative affinity, and the fact that they are getting two charges of adaptive geneseed I imagine they will be pushing through some reforms no matter what. If the rulers are revolting against the Imperium they are all dead anyway so what better to replace them with than a government based on their homeworld's. if the people are revolting against the leaders the leaders had better be ready for some reforms to prevent that from happening again.

Maybe some reforms, but it is easier to fix problems than tear the way of life of a world and remake it.

So again i doubt that the UM will extend it that much
