Can tuna be domesticated as part of aquaculture? Can become like a sled dog to pull boats on the sea or like a cow to be sold at a high price to Japan.

Maybe make an Aquaman ripoff with tuna Calvary and underwater LSEEH bases for the supervillain for marketing
I think in terms of supervillain marketing we kinda want Moon Base, but I might be projecting my own wants a bit.

Updated previous post with rail-plan questions / feedback from that point on.
cc @Carcer, @CyberFemme

You're confusing CyberSyn and PinkOS. The former is a glorified Blomberg terminal we use to coordinate our economy. The later is the actual operating system we designed, and isn't linked with the priorities we voted on for CyberSyn IIRC.
Oh, good to know thanks 💜
Where does WEISOFT fit in that picture? (Goddex knows we could use a glossary of our tech)
Also, we don't have optical cables yet. But the tech is being commercialized around this time, and the Dragon Rail corridors are built with upgrade slots for it in the future.
Yes, I mentioned it was contemporary tech and kept the upgradability in mind, but I asked HC in the context of some sonar tech we might want to use (if US subs hanging around Guangchou and China become a significant concern, for instance)
We're also likely to see some synergy with our military developments, because our geography really lends itself to making these:
Oh, those are neat. Not sure I'm reading the diagram correctly though: is this meant to be sitting on (shallow) seafloor, somehow floating, or built on stilts?

I'm guessing the synergy with military development is in making nuclear power systems for use at sea, but is there more to it?
It's not as big a deal as you think. Screws (to distinguish between marine and aerial propellers) are already 75% efficient on average [...] And our conveyor belt style VSP props can already hit the low 90s because of their low speed and wide swept area.

Which isn't to say that it's a bad idea, but it's not a game changer, and it does incur a somewhat hefty price tag due to the complex manufacturing involved.
Oh, I didn't realise we had very-high-efficiency props already.
Regardless, I agree they aren't likely to be game-changing for us, though I think the aesthetics would be really cute, and that's why I disagreed with prioritizing it now.

Tho @HeroCooky if you know to look in that direction, it doesn't have to be that research intensive. Don't read too much into the 'CFD intensive' bits [...] A more hardware rich development program wouldn't be too onerous to run early on to figure out some geometries that would serve us just fine under a set of conditions we care to specify.
Absolutely, and my proposal was to also build experimental facilities (wind and water tunnels, wave pools, rapid prototyping workshops to build the models in, etc.) to make us better at designing air- and watercrafts... and spacecrafts too, soon~
Totally not a priority though, can't prioritise the shinies when everything is fucked up.

That's all for me tonight. I'll answer the longer effortposts later.
Thanks a bunch, and rest well. 💜

I just realized I forgot to post the updated world map. :sour:
Wait, how/when did Greenland join NATO/NHTO and the EU?
Was that supposed to be Iceland instead? 😅

OTL, Iceland isn't quite in the EU... but it's part of the economic and Schengen areas, and it would be plausible that in this timeline they joined early-on.

-[ ] Light Industry (5 total)
-[] 2× Increase Electrification (Helpful) (0/2 to Full Coverage) (+1 People's Opinion)
Let's be a completely electrified country
👍 This will help all our efforts w.r.t. ecology and decarbonization.
Thinking more about it, we can push that back a turn or two, especially if we aren't building more low-emissions power plants... freeing up a couple actions for this:
  • Populists & Internationalists
    • Medical Student Exchange with Cuba (Helpful) (-4 Reputation) (-5 People's Opinion)
    • Brain Drain Time! (+4 Reputation)
  • International: Yoink Chinese Specialists and Intellgientsia (+3 Reputation)
Those should have pretty good synergy, along with the gay immigration propaganda, and seem pretty timely: we need the influx of medical expertise now, and the educated Chinese who are going to expatriate themselves are mostly going to do so this turn as well.

We'd need to free up one more action, take penalties, or push back one of those, and I'd suggest dropping one of the CyPac actions: likely the trade & aid to Cuba, as interrupting "A Red Rising" seems bad, and we don't want to become known for putting off promises to our allies until the last moment.

Under the direction of the Provincial Council, Knud Hertling created a committee to study the possibility of Independence for Greenland, returning a [Negative] in 1976, and recommended a decrease in autonomy instead due to the generally positive attitude of the local population to Denmark.

Thus they are a part of Denmark, and, therefore, a part of the EU and NHTO.

And Iceland just joined because why not?

Thanks, I had forgotten about that.

Joined NHTO but not the EU, or both?.

PS: What's "Vocational Shock Effort," under Political/Technologists?

Okay, good, but you better make navy matters a priority before deploying those, as the Military won't like critical military and civilian infrastructure in the sea (even the inner one) without having several umbrellas to cover them.

If you had wanted to put them anywhere else ocean-wise, the Military would have outright vetoed the construction due to security reasons.

Even underwater? 🤔

I'm a bit of a lurker here so forgive me if this has already been answered.

Did we have plans for a nuclear weapons program prior to the Chinese civil war? I ask cause that's one of the few things I had a write in for. Restricting the use to very specific defense purposes, specifically invasion fleets. This would be one the few things that specifically restrict the actions of everyone in the country, INCLUDING and ESPECIALLY Jungmin. I kinda got inspired by the Long March TNO quest.

Cyber wanted at least some for defensive purposes. Now that is scaled back to being able to get one in six months.
Okay cool. Though with international response to the events in China, I'm not sure we even need nukes anymore? What are the chances someone decides to create a general nuclear disarmament treaty and succeeding with current events in mind?

They already did. Nukes have a shelf-life and need to be replenished regularly.

Something that the new treaty forbids, as no new nukes will be created. All nuclear weaponry will age out and vanish in due time.

Perhaps even more quickly if it is decided to recycle the materials of certain nukes, the prices of fissionable materials will experience a brutal fall as will the actions of nuke manufacturers, also this treaty means less nuclear testing and less radioactive pollution, cool.
I wonder what the effect will be of all this nuclear weapons budget being reallocated to other things.

The security environment isn't as bad as you think compared to land based ones - cruise missiles spam is very difficult to defend against no matter where you put the power plants.
Offshoring them adds ASW requirements, but the powerplant itself can act as the staging ground for a lot of ASW helos and possibly static son'rs and CAPTOR minefields.

I honestly expect that a enemy sub would not try to use a torpedo to strike at it - too much risk for the gain. Easier to just have a SSGN throw tomahawks at it from long range - which is the same threat profile we have to worry about on land.

Yeah, but there is still the fact that your most critical infrastructure will be in the ocean, which will make people nervous, no matter how safe, unless you go beyond what they'd see as sufficient for land-based reactors.

IDK, could be something to do with island people not fully trusting the ocean for some reason. :V

Our guys must understand the people of the Netherlands area and there ancient ancestral war against the sea then.

Qm does this action:"-[] Develop And Test Novel Food Production Methods (Mega-Project - 0/8 Actions) (-3 Reputation)
(You can create further ways to make use of your available farming space to boost production with Industrial Mycoculture, Urban Permaculture Initiatives, Forest Farming (though you'll take full credit for that since IJ stole that idea from you!), Silvopasture, and Agroforestry)" need to be repeated for every type of farming or one time will unlock all of them ?

-[X] Commiewood:
Tales of Humanity
A series presenting throughout episodes factual history, fairy tales, legends, and myths from all over the world and from all eras (although the first episodes focus on stories from Guangchou dear to the animators). Unlike Disney and other modern producers, it was chosen not to sugarcoat the stories but to reproduce them much more faithfully (although a segment at the beginning of the episode putting the story in its context was added in cases where the story would have aged badly from a moral point of view, would be racist, etc.) in all their tragedies, joy, horror, exaltation, anger, strangeness, because sometimes things go wrong, sometimes the story doesn't end well, sometimes there is no good or justice if people don't all fight for it, and that's a good lesson to teach.

using the recent shock to hammer the "we don't have to be enemy" even deeper in the skull of everyone

[X] Plan: we only have 14 action ? very well let's resolve food problem
-[X] Infrastructure

--[X] (WRITE-IN) :Make preparations for the apocalypse permanent.
In the last round we spent three actions for this preparation for the apocalypse, this aims to make these preparations permanent and to keep them up to date (kept the reserves stocked, maintain/modernize the bunkers and underground tunnel networks, if necessary build them more) so next time (nuke, earthquake, tornado, war, tsunami, etc) we don't have to take any action, this mission can be added to the task of an existing department, also if next time we don't get a warning it would save us.
(cost:free)

--[X] (WRITE-IN) :creation of a department which will be responsible for maintaining and creating new commemorative monuments (going from big disaster like the curent one to adding a plaque on a building in memory of a worker who died in an accident while passing by searched the old battlefields (battleseabed in our case?) of the second war to search for bodies to add to the appropriate cemetery/monument)as well as responsible for taking care of corpses/deaths/cemetery in general so that they have more to do (if somebody is already responsibe of corpse/emetery just at comemorative munument on the list of his responsability),their first job is making one for the nukes incident.
(cost:free)

it will save actions on the long-term,the idea is just having something that will automaticely make the (create a comemorative monument) each time needed without having us usng action

-[X] Heavy Industry

--[X] Build Rolling Stock And Rail Factory Complex (Harmful) (+1 Reputation) (Reduced Actions For The Dragon Rail) (Bonus: +1 PttF)

(You can create further ways to make use of your available farming space to boost production with Industrial Mycoculture, Urban Permaculture Initiatives, Forest Farming (though you'll take full credit for that since IJ stole that idea from you!), Silvopasture, and Agroforestry)

More food and will be more easy to do it now than later

-[X] Social

--[X] (WRITE-IN) Social Espionage in Japan: the disappearance of the 13500 citizens of guangchou at the hand of the japan during the war has always been like a wound in the mind of the country unable to mourn without certainty of their fate since the japan refuse to say anithing about them, it being worsened by suspicion when the involvement of unit 735 when at their end, it's time to try to put an end to this, find out exactly what happened to them and according to the result, grieve, file a complaint for a crime of war / against the humanity on the Japanese and if you are very lucky bring home any survivors.(if they can find evidence of other war crime the japan comited on us then denied it would be nicetoo).cost :-7 Rep for all the costs involved, takes 2 turns (still one Action), and may not yield anything.

the more we wait less likely any suvivor and last time we have been able to get reparation from another country it was great

OK, let's go all-in on new food production methods :3
EDIT: See @CyberFemme's updated plan, I miscounted the number of actions remaining for the 5YP's success.

[ ] Plan: let's go all-in on alternative food production and yoink Chinese brains
-[X] Commiewood: Tales of Humanity
-[X] Infrastructure (2 actions)
--[X] Make preparations for the apocalypse permanent
--[X] Build Vitamin Supplement Factory
--[X] (free) creation of a department which will be responsible for maintaining and creating new commemorative monuments
-[X] Heavy Industry: Build Rolling Stock And Rail Factory Complex
-[X] Agri- and Aqua-culture (8 actions)
--[X] Fully Develop And Test Novel Food Production Methods
-[X] CyPac: A Red Rising (continued)
-[X] Political
--[X] China Refugee Outreach
--[X] Yoink Chinese Specialists and Intellgientsia

Compared to Carcer's plan, I added the last one and postponed those two:
[X] Plan: we only have 14 action ? very well let's resolve food problem
-[X] (WRITE-IN) Social Espionage in Japan
-[X] Cybernetic Pact: Fuck The US of Middle North A - Cuba (Trade and Aid) (+4 Reputation)

Keeping the RP as-is, though I'll try to suggest some fun sporting events:
[X] Wei Jungming - (RP)
-[X] Personal Action (Write-In two things he does within the next six months.)
--[X] Went camping with the family, taught the children about the stars, plants and animals, harvesting food, bushcraft, told them the legends and stories of the country, in short, had a good time

@Carcer, did I miscount something, or did you actually use 15 actions?
@HeroCooky, let me know if I'm doing something wrong, I couldn't figure out how to properly use the vote feature in the editor (which I assume has some automated tallying etc.)

Thanks a bunch, for the answers, Carcer and HC ❤️

PS: If I miscounted, add "Build Vitamin Supplement Factory."

You need to use brackets [] and put an X into them to have the vote tally count your plan.

Using it would look like this:
(X substituted with Y to prevent the tally being mucked up.)

[Y] Disaster Homosexuals 2: Revenge of the Blåhaj
-[Y] Action 1
-[Y] Action 2
-[Y] Action 3
-[Y] Action 4
-[Y] Action 5
-[Y] Action etc.

we have a free cypac action each turn

edit:
changed "--[X] Fuck The US of Middle North A - Cuba (Trade and Aid) (+4 Reputation)" for "-[] Fuck The US of Middle North A - Nicaragua (Show the world what the US is sponsoring) (+7 Reputation)" because i choose the wrong one when i did my plan nicaragua is more presing.
