Actually, I am curious. What is the state of our naval fleet and what kind of ships do we have? What capabilities/technologies are present right now?
Depending on how out of date the ships are, we may need to invest considerable effort into remodernizing/replacing the navy and ideally we do it now rather than later. Naval construction and procurement is heavily lead time and investment dependent.

The Navy is practically like two people in a old wooden and leaking fishing boat.

I don't have a lot of strong feelings about what specific projects we pursue at the moment--though the medical situation is still our most pressing of issues, obviously. Looking at our Rep and Opinion, I think we could stand to work on raising our Reputation so we have the political capital to push big projects. Seems like doing some military investment would be an easy way to raise it. I'm not as worried about People's Opinion this turn, though if we get near/under 50 after this turn then next turn we'll want to buff that stat.

Perhaps it would have resulted in nothing more than another Red Scare, or maybe something else would have happened, but it all came to a head when Hudson Austin declared Grenada for the "World Revolution" on the 18th of April in 1982 after forcing and winning a "special election" through the government with the help of blackmail, threats, and bribery.

This act, it seemed, was the drop in the bucket that was too much, with American boots hitting the soil two days later.

The rest, as they say, was history. Bloody, deadly, tear-filled history.
Hmm. Operation Urgent Fury. Historically an American victory, yet the ineptitude displayed by the U.S. military forced the DOD to undergo an overhaul.

Wonder if it goes worse here?

So the US just invaded the Middle Americas to prop up their puppet governments. There's going to be so much resentment for years from this, I wouldn't be surprised if guerrilla fighting sprung up to keep them occupied.

Forget middle eastern terrorists. They'll be getting south american terrorists instead.

If it werent killing people, id be thanking the US for convincing people that we're the good guys.

"Halo, niece and nephew. It's me, Uncle Roger, reminding you to ALWAYS use the right amount. Not the WHITE amount!"

Episode ???: Meal Portions
Would you believe Uncle Roger is not going to be born before we "win" based on time survival? So we can, uh, steal his bit wholesale without him being around to complain about it. ;)

So, what's going on with Healthcare Reform? Was that it? It didn't spawn a followup megaproject like Educational Reform did?

Has the Chinese Civil War officially started? I had it down for for first half of 1983. I ask because our +5 to reactor design was apparently supposed to end once the civil war started? So it this is the last turn we get that +5 then that require a SIGNIFICANT change to the plan.

I see Mozambique is not asking for Military Aid in the information post? But the option for military aid is still there? Do they not feel military aid is as urgent?

There's a bunch of options that need to be rationalized or removed, Healthcare reform still shows up, same with OSHA.

Armed Solidarity actions seem to give more rep that Military Aid options in CyPac, are we supposed to be allowed to use Armed Solidarity actions to cover CyPac requirements and gain more rep that way?

--[] Expand Medical Imaging Plant (+3 Rep) (Bonus: +2 Electronics + 2 Focus + 1 PttF = +5 Total)
(9 + 5 = 14 - Minor Breakthrough)
--[] Found the Ouvry (+3 Reputation) (Bonus: + 1 PttF = +1 Total)
(12 + 1 = 13 - Minor Breakthrough)
--[X] Expand Medical Imaging Plant (+3 Rep) (Bonus: +2 Electronics + 2 Focus + 1 PttF = +5 Total)
(9 + 5 = 14 - Minor Breakthrough)
--[X] Expand Crop Breeding Programs (+4 Reputation) (Helpful) (Bonus: +1 PffF = +1 Total)
(12 + 1 = 13 - Minor Breakthrough)

Should be Medium Breakthroughs because Rainbow Road reduces breakthrough checkpoints by 2.

Preliminary Action Plan:
  1. Rail Development
  2. Rail Development
  3. Rail Development (+1 Rep total)
  4. Videogame Arcades (+3 Rep)
  5. Consumer Hardware Factory (+? Rep)
  6. Durable Goods Libraries (-2 Rep)
  7. Military Design Action (+0 Rep?)
    1. Boat 1
    2. Boat 2
    3. Helicopter
    4. IFV
  8. Iron Tiger Factory (+0 Rep)
  9. Counter-Intelligence Sweep (-? Rep)
  10. Geothermal Power Plant (+0 Rep)
  11. Refugee Integration (+0 Rep?)
  12. Chinese Intervention Preparation (+? rep?)
  13. Military Aid to Mozambique (+2 Rep)
  14. Military Aid to Syria (+2 Rep)
  15. Military Aid to South Yemen (+2 Rep)
Three action to rail development, with the intention of building a rail stock factory and starting Dragon Rail next turn.
Arcades and consumer hardware (drills, screwdrivers, pliers, etc.) for those QOL improvements.
Durable goods libraries to multiply the effectivness of our consumer goods factories by allowing low frequency of use items to be shared among more people.
Two boats because we're an island nation, a helicopter (tiltrotor?) and IFV because those are going to be more immediately relevant to the sort of brushfire wars we're going to be doing on behalf of CyPac.
An IT factory because all our production RN is going towards Gen 1s for the Soviets, and we need Gen 2s for the China intervention.
A Counter-Intel sweep because we now have a LOT of eyes and effort turned out way and we should reinforce out counter0intel operations.
A Geothermal power-plant because we're about to make a lot of heavy industry in support of Dragon Rail and we're going to need the power.
Refugee integration to help with both China and the Thai stuff.
An action to get everythign ready for the CHina intervention - making sure we have all our beans, bullets, and bandages in the right places, that all our allies know the IFF codes and the communication protocols, everyone's on the same page, etc.
Military Aid is wrapping up the last of our military promises to CyPac.

HC, give me Rep values for these.

I demand we get the 90s. The 90s is when we can actually do a Mars mission.

Borked C&P on my end, fixed.

Yes, though the nuclear bonus still applies for this turn. A couple of bad rolls saw things happen a year early.

They do not, but it would be appreciated.

Fixed.

No. Fixed that too

2, 1 per design (bundle offer by initiative of the military. You get 3/4 Actions for the cost of one.), 4, -2, 1, 1, 1.

Well, you'll be able to vote for a two 5-year-plan extension Civ style, so you can have it if the thread wants to continue.

(This is because I want an end point for the quest, since just continuing it won't lead to good places.)

Herocooky, what would be the cost of an action like that ?

-[] Social Espionage in Japan: the disappearance of the 135,000 citizens of guangchou at the hand of the japan during the war has always been like a wound in the mind of the country unable to mourn without certainty of their fate since the japan refuse to say anithing about them, it being worsened by suspicion when the involvement of unit 735 when at their end, it's time to try to put an end to this, find out exactly what happened to them and according to the result, grieve, file a complaint for a crime of war / against the humanity on the Japanese and if you are very lucky bring home any survivors.

Might be time to use the +10 and the +4 bonus when making a sub and ship respectively. Hit the ground running with our new navy.
