And then when the art arrives, rather than being locked up in a dictator's trove, they get displayed in a public art museum.

(A lot of nations are currently facing unrest and/or ethnic cleansings. We could take advantage of the fleeing populations and persecuted intellectuals to boost our native capabilities. Oh, and help the refugees too.

(Laos shows a number of historical similarities to Guangchou including going from a monarchy to a communist system. They're undergoing big changes in 1975, though they are concerningly fond of atrocities. By stepping in and providing guidance/material support, we may be capable of gaining an ally and putting a stop to the mass murders. Additionally, this could be the firststep out from Chinas Shadow into an alliance of our own...)

Here's my plan, it mostly focuses on the time sensitive options. Brain drain Thailand and set up SACK as those need to be jumped on ASAP. We promised to do a Housing Mega-project and two sets of Electrification in the first year (especially if we're taking in refugees) so getting on that now, with the aim to do the other Electrification next turn. Get our Light Industry institute set up (Mingxiang will need to be next turn) and probably where we'll put the Thai Brains to work. One action in the Sea-Forest Project as we're required to do one Ag action per turn and I think it's cool.

These will be smaller plots of land set aside for experimenting with novel crop planing methods, testing agricultural machinery, trying different crops in various combination to look for synergistic effects, and so on. Having them attached to existing farms will reduce overhead costs, make farmers more comfortable with the latest agricultural technique due to ambient exposure, and hopefully harness the existing pool of knowledge and experience of the nation's farmers to identify any overlooked methodology.

I want to establish these early, because it takes time to gather data about how various techniques impact yield over the long term.

-----[] Establish a people smuggling operating based out of Rach Gia in Southern Vietnam, using fishing boats that exchange cargoes of fish for people to smuggle non-combatants out of Thailand and on to Guangchou. The focus will naturally be on the Bancock metropolitan area and the surrounding coast, but given the high number of leftist students and academics concentrated there, it's a decent trade-off. An overland route through Laos is possible but the ongoing civil war makes it difficult. Pray that our comrades in Laos are victorious soon.

So, it looks like the insurgency is kicking off early in this timeline. Our first priority should really be to make sure that we can get the people who want to leave out of the country. If the communists don't win, then that's a good amount of educated people who have been added to Guangchou. If the communists do win (they'll need help), it will mean we have a large population of expats who will have a good opinion of us when they return, and Thailand might follow in our footsteps/join SACK.

Edit: Laos hasn't actually finished overthrowing the monarchy yet! That's actually in the second half of 1975! :p

Edit 2: I haven't taken advantage of some of our social and political bonuses because I want to save them for the more impactful soc/pol options that we'll start thinking of at the end of the plan.

What does "Modernize Army Logistical Backbone" mean as far as action options go?

Edit: Also WOW we have a lot of political and diplomacy bonuses, and China is currently distracted. I think we should get on SACK right now.

For me it means researching the Design Modular Skateboard Vehicle Chassis and making a factory for it, so we can make hybrid-electric humvee and logistical truck equivalents for the army. The other bit is founding a Combat Engineering Corps. They will also get input into the Dragon Rail project to make sure our trains can serve their needs.

We're a touch limited in how many of those diplomacy bonuses we can act on in the first four turns: We get a blanket +1 to all our computing and automation R&D, so it's more efficient to cram those all in at the beginning.

We would want to widen the net for people we buy from or else they will figure it out fast.

This means we also buy from peaceful groups and artists who have fallen on hard times. That should muddy the waters a fair amount.

Yeah, I think that happened in the early 1900's, as part of movement which was asking what exactly was art, and what was not. Also see Pollock paint splashes for another example of art asking the same question.

We could definitely have a similarly provocative statement for the artworld, by just putting dildos up for display in an art showcase..... it would definitely be... provocative. In 30 years or so, it might be taught that we started an art movement that expanded the boundaries of art, and eventually made more sexualized creations much more respectable and professional...

or something like that. I already know we have the concept of nude models, so who knows, maybe the art world is ready for this kind of experimentation.
 
I wonder if it would be possible to invest in electric vehicles and stuff.

Our citizens don't have that much need for personal long range transportation, and I'd rather not import gasoline and stuff when we've literally got more free energy than we know what to do with coming out of the island itself.

Not to say we won't import gasoline (or you know, fischer-tropsch it into existance), but I'd prefer not putting ourselves at the mercy of external forces.

High capacity batteries are the affordability killer, due to their poor lifespans. Even if we were using sodium ion sulfur batteries or something, the batteries still need quite regular re-manufacturing. Off-machine power supplies are stronk.

It'd be better to do hydrogen ICEs (burning electrolyzed hydrogen), or make synthetic propane, for the sake of a more mass producible vehicle with a longer working lifespan if we were stuck putting everyone in their own travel box.

Yup! Dragon Rail is all about trains! High speed passanger trains, cargo trains, trolley busses!

Through synthetic fuel will probably have to wait until we go nuclear.

Voting for this over the other plan since I perfer getting The research commune this turn over the institute, and doing the experimental Food option over expanding the mega food structure we just finished, I would like to wait atleast a plan before expanding that so we have practical knowledge on some longterm effects/More efficient ways to do so before expanding it.
