I feel like Shadow should have a more daedric version of the Dark Brotherhood armor since, y'know Shadowmere has basically been with them since practically the beginning.

So I want to finish with the Hospital in this chapter but I couldn't manage it. Maybe a good creature or power will motivate my muse.

The others were visibly waiting for me to choose the strategy, and damn if it wasn't weird to have four experienced heroes following my lead.
With some trepidation, I spoke up. "So, hum, the situation is too volatile for us to be careless. This needs finesse." I expected them to not like my decision but my words came out with as much resolve as I could. "I will infiltrate the Hospital alone using a stranger power-" no need to go into details "-and neutralize the gang members one by one."
They exchanged concerned looks at that. Lady Photon voiced her though. "Are you sure? If you get seen at any moment it could spell disaster. How are you going to handle the regular check-up between them? And what if they're capes inside?"
It was an excellent point but my Minds already formulated a plan for that. "I will start with the one doing the check-up and take its place to continue, so the other won't be alerted." That seems to satisfy her only partially so I continued. "As for being detected, I'm confident in that Stranger power, you'll need a very specific counter to beat it." After all, if someone could perceive things despite Bruce's Rest Room effect, well, we'll have bigger problems.
"And if I encounter an enemy parahuman, well, I don't know. It depends on which one. I'll improvise."
Velocity nodded in understanding. "I'll trust your judgment on that. What do you want us to do?"
I grimaced, I wasn't sure that they would appreciate being relegated to guard duty but I couldn't take them with me and I had no other ideas. Wait, no, there was one thing. "I need someone to direct my Spider Bot and to continue scouting from the bottom. Clank has made good progress from the top and he'll be with me, but having more info could always be useful."
"I'll do it!" Laserdream raised her hand as if she was in school and she blushed when all of us gave her weird looks.
"Okay, sure." I handed her the remote and in a few words explained how it functioned. For anyone familiar with modern video games it was fairly intuitive. I insisted on the fact that the Spider Bot wasn't invisible and that discretion was paramount. When I finished explaining the young woman gave me such a beaming smile that it made me blush.
I saw Manpower and Lady Photon exchange grins but I didn't comment.
Clearing his throat Velocity spoke up. "And for us?" He gestured toward the other members of New Wave and himself.
"Guard duty. It's not glorious but the Empire could always call on reinforcement or their Capes may make a move while we're busy dealing with their unpowered members."
The speedster nodded. "That's fair. Are you worried about something in particular?"
I made a face and nodded. Briefly, I explained what happened earlier. I insisted on the timing of the attack, and how it was done as soon as I disappeared from the scene and lightning fast so I didn't have time to retaliate.
All three heroes shoot worried looks all around. Manpower asked a question. "You think they're observing us right now?"
"It's possible. Olky is keeping an eye out but he doesn't have much to go on. Just the description of a black van. And nothing is stopping them from changing vehicles."
"Very well we'll keep our eyes peeled."
In addition, I instructed Rainbow to obey Velocity and Eye to listen to Manpower. Shadow could be trusted to act independently. And I gave my Vampire Frog Staff to Lady Photon, demonstrating how to summon the Frog. And I applied the Plants themes to make it appear less intimidating. The woman appeared confused by this strange magical item but seeing that we wasted a lot of time already I just said that it was an enhanced item like what Dauntless could do.
"Okay, wish me luck. Oh and don't mind my new look." I ignored their puzzled look and motioned for Clank to get on my back. Once he was secured he handed me Bruce's weapon shape and for the first time, I transformed it into armor.
I found myself wearing something that looks like power armor, with some similarity to Armsmaster's armor, covering me from head to toes. Mainly light gray with a touch of white, the helmet looks intimidating with a teeth-like pattern on the front. Thankfully it was transparent from the inside so I could see normally. People wouldn't recognize me as Compendium with that, well if they ignore the dollop pektite floating near my shoulder anyway. Clank was still securely attached to my back, a little retractable bulge on my wrist protected Spy, an opening for my cards was on my left breast, and Yellow's Clawed Gauntlet fit smugly under the armor's left gauntlet. All in all, it was much more comfortable than I expected.
The others were openly gapping at this point but I didn't want to waste any more time explaining so I activated the Rest Room effect and disappeared from their perception.
I turned around and looked at the hospital building. How should I enter it? Olky was on surveillance duty and I didn't want to bother him. Ideally, I would enter from the top, just as I was about to use The Jump another idea hit me. I was currently wearing Bruce, so what happened if I used Grant Movement to give him the ability to fly?
It turns out to work surprisingly well. Activating it was a little convoluted, I couldn't just will myself to go up, I needed to communicate my orders to "Bruce". But speaking was useless, as an armor, Bruce was more or less asleep. The trick, I discovered, wasn't to imagine flying but to imagine somewhere I want to go and if it couldn't be reached by the ground the armor would activate flight. I needed to remain focused on my destination for it to work well so I gave that job to one of my Minds.
As I flew up, I felt a minor ping from the Menagerie and waited for an instant for my Minds to report on their findings.
So that may be the weakest power we ever gained./Not useless exactly but very specific./It allows our partners to dismiss themselves. That's all./I can see some use in scouting if they can talk. After dismissing themselves we can go to the Mental Realm to get their report./Perhaps also a form of long-distance communication. Something like "dismiss yourself if X event happened"./For my part I appreciate the fact that it can prevent their capture, an unlikely scenario considering the distance limit and our Know locations power but you never know.
A few seconds later I was stepping on the roof. There was one guard but I left him alone, he would be dealt with last, he couldn't take any hostage here.
The door was partially open so I didn't have any trouble entering by moving sideways. After passing through a staircase I found my first obstacle, a closed door. I had no idea if anyone was nearby and I didn't want to be detected.
I focussed on all my enhanced senses trying to discern everything I could. Scents didn't help much, under the various chemical smells typical of a hospital I could smell that people passed nearby recently but I couldn't say if they were still there. Sounds were much more useful, I could distantly hear the beeping of various machines but no footsteps of breathing. My more exotic senses clinched the deal, no being with a communication center, no vibration, and no nervous system.
Carefully I opened the door, ready to jump and neutralize anyone that may have escaped detection, and slipped into the hospital proper. I was now in a recess at the very end of a long corridor, with hospital rooms on each side. No trace of gang members so far.
I tapped my earbud. "Compendium to Velocity. I'm inside, I haven't been detected yet."
Velocity responded. "I'm hearing you loud and clear. No movement outside, good luck. Velocity over."
The others were openly gapping at this point but I didn't want to waste any more time explaining so I activated the Rest Room effect and disappeared from their perception.
That is the proper response to Compendium's Drip.
Good choice by the way. Can tank 1 hit from an Endbringer and keep on truckin' and a moving Forget Me Not power. Didn't even think about that.
