The Enchanted Nightcrawler would make for a good Slime in my opinion. Let it produce star plorts and Alex will finally be able to create Mana Crystals on a daily basis.

Also, why not give Kaiju to Trimmau or Hug? A flood of weaponized mercury is nothing to sneeze at and Hug would finally be able to embrace everyone simultaneously.

am a bit surprised that the Sorting Hat isn't listed anywhere. I would have thought it made for an obvious Servant (although I know we wouldn't be able to vote for that before using the remaining Dimensional Adaptation options). I imagine a Caster whose Noble Phantasm creates a bounded field wherein people are "sorted" (read: teleported) into one of four locations based on personality traits.

Alternatively, the Hat could become the Sorting Card, able to sort various objects based on their contents. Magic away the paperwork into neat stacks and all that.
Actually I imagine the Sorting Hat be like a Yukari from Touhou Project minus the Bullet Hell capabilities. Be able to sort people and combatants where they'd have the most effectiveness and sort out best method to trip up and defeat it's opponents. As well as read minds. Itd definitely be a Caster. It'd have literally centuries of learning and sitting be the Headmasters and Headmistress of Hogwarts.
like that idea much better. The Card Options are already the most numerous on the list but why not?
For people it could teleport them but only where they are most useful not where they want to go... unless they specifically state not Slytherin this place or they want that place. I momentarily forgot about the Not Slytherin scene. Though most would assume that That chooses not the witch or wizard so it might work or might not depending on how it's Legend and humanities beliefs might effect it's real capability.
multiple times (as long as the adaptations aren't contradictory),
So a new one wouldn't erase an old one?

Yes, it could be a viable Slime. I'm not sure that Alex needs that many stars.

Hug no. It would remove its ability to interact with people on a more personal basis.
Trimmau? I'm not sure. It would not be a viable maid anymore either.

So a new one wouldn't erase an old one?
I'll try to give an example.
Let's start with a bear, a perfectly normal brown bear.
We apply the Dragon Dimensional Adaptation (DM for short), it grows wings and can breathe out, hmm, let's go with explosive balls of teeth.
Then we apply, Tyranid DM, it loses its fur, gains an exoskeleton, and its paws are replaced by scythe-like blades. It still retains its previous wings and breath.
We apply the Kaiju DM, it grows to 80m tall. It retains the previous changes.
We apply the Aquatic DM, it gains gills and webbed feet. It retains the previous changes.
We apply the Pokemon DM, and it gains the Dragon and Dark types with the ability Anger Point, it gains a moveset, and it can gain level up. It retains the previous changes.

Then we tried to apply the Invocation DM. And there we hit a snag. Our unrecognizable bear would have a hard time becoming an Invocation after becoming a Pokemon. The Invocation DM is made for creatures that have only one "attack" and that may have a hard time reaching their target. While a Pokemon possesses a variety of moves not just one, and its Anger Point ability would become useless because it only activates when taking a critical hit, which is an invocation that only appears on the battlefield for a few second it would never receive.

You could also consider Kaiju and Invocation incompatible. Kaiju are powerhouses on the battlefield, facing other giant monsters or devastating a vast area.

I hope that helped.

Hey @zagan, concerning Armsmaster gaining a partner, there's been something on my mind I didn't find an answer for in the QnA. What limits are there if a Keeper wanted to equip/enhance/upgrade their partners with items or technology and can a partner be outfitted/reworked given sufficient knowledge and technical skill? While Alex isn't interested in outfitting his partners with technology and you've said before you don't want this to be like BCF, Armsmaster would at least try to upgrade any robot partners he gains, and I was wondering if that was possible without having a relevant power for information about the creature like Veterinary or Controlled Reproduction?

We already know certain aspects of a partner are missing until the appropriate power has been gained, a Keeper doesn't automatically know how their robot partners are built until Controlled Reproduction is gained, but does that prevent them from learning how to work on them through focused study and testing of said partners? The Veterinary skill can show a Keeper how to fix a broken robot partner, and that info was shown to slip through his fingers when Dragon asked to know if he could build them from that information alone, but would information gained through observation about a partner's inner workings be blocked in that same way? If Armsmaster wanted to put the Surveyor through a rebuild, would the CM stop him from replacing it piece by piece with Tinker tech equivalents or the material with Blue Steel instead?

Edit: To be clear, I'm not asking about the Copyright power, but if the CM prevents a Keeper from learning about a partner through their own efforts and could said Keeper eventually learn how a partner works without ever gaining powers that would have it handed to them.

Excellent questions.
A Keeper, or perhaps more relevant, someone who received a partner through "Grant Summoning" can indeed study its partner and learn little by little what makes it tick. The process can be more or less difficult depending on the nature of the partner and the knowledge base of the summoner.

So a Tinker, like Armsmaster, that gained a robot as a partner could indeed study it to gain insight into how the propulsion system functions, how the AI processes information, and so on. It could even reach a point where the summoning could conceivably build a new one from scratch provided the summoner has access to the right materials and the right tools. This isn't going against the "No reproduction" rule of the CM because it's not the creature that does it, it's the summoner and he does it only using knowledge gained by himself not granted by the CM.

On the subject of modification, that's also perfectly doable. As was shown in the quest, a creature can be given clothes (like Olky), or can wear earbuds. If a Panda tattooed a storage seal on Starro, the seal (and its content) would remain between summoning. If Etszu implants replaced White's bones with cybernetic ones, that would stay too.

So again Armsmaster could modify its Surveyor, replace the chassis with Blue Steel, add a connection to his splinching machine, add a manipulator's arm, etc...

There is only one firm limitation to that. At no point during the modification process, the creature must be considered dead. For simple things, it's not a major problem but for more complex ones it may be tricky. If Armsmaster wishes to replace the main power generator of his Surveyor with a more efficient design he can't just turn off the Surveyor before doing so and he must provide an alternate power source while he's doing the switch. Certainly doable but not something to undertake lightly.

I may have gotten a little wordy and off-tangent here. I hope this answers your question.

Here is a question. How does Dimensional Adaptation affect Material Extraction? In the case of turning into Slimes it is obvious, but what about the other options?

EDIT: Hang on, what about turning Pig Jig into a Shard? The porcine noise can flee and produce decoys, and it's not as if Alex uses it overmuch. Apply that to someone and you have a Mover with Shaker body-doubles. Also, how does Gifting a Shard to a Parahuman work, exactly? Was that ever determined?

2 questions
How would this affect Surveyor's kids thru Reproduction power?
Wouldn't Tinkertech limitations make it so Surveyor would die without constant upkeep or would the CM take over and improve Shard derived functions of the Tinkering?

I quite like the idea of turning some of our summons into Biju since it will not only grant a unique elemental affinity to whoever is bound to them but a source of chakra as well. That and it also does the same for the summons granting them more power and versatility.

Here is a question. How does Dimensional Adaptation affect Material Extraction? In the case of turning into Slimes it is obvious, but what about the other options?
What's already available won't change. It may even be improved. If we take Shadow as an example before becoming a Servant he could give Hide Leather, as he was a Daedra it was already a mildly magical material. As a Servant, he still gives Hide Leather but it would be more magically potent.
In addition, new materials may be added if appropriate. Pokemon DM may give a new item from the game, Dragon DM may produce scales, Machines would be metals or electronic components, and so on.

EDIT: Hang on, what about turning Pig Jig into a Shard? The porcine noise can flee and produce decoys, and it's not as if Alex uses it overmuch. Apply that to someone and you have a Mover with Shaker body-doubles.

That's a really good idea. I will definitively add that one.

Also, how does Gifting a Shard to a Parahuman work, exactly? Was that ever determined?
You can't. Shard can only be given to non-parahuman. The subject hasn't come up in the quest because we only have Solar and we have no plan to give it away. It may spark some interesting questions from some interested parties.

*Looks at Hermit Purple* 😑
Fair point. Though the mechanics would be quite different.

How would this affect Surveyor's kids thru Reproduction power?
??? I don't understand the question.

Wouldn't Tinkertech limitations make it so Surveyor would die without constant upkeep or would the CM take over and improve Shard derived functions of the Tinkering?
The CM wouldn't improve any Shard-derived functions, but it would take them over. As for maintenance, unless the object needs to be maintained more often than once per day the point is moot because at each summoning the creature would be back in perfect shape.

??? I don't understand the question.
If a Creature is modded like Surveyor with improved electronics or all metal made out of Blue Steel or other alloys, or say Panacea or Bonesaw modded an organic Creature in an otherwise permanent way; then Controlled Reproduction was used to make kids directly from modded Creature: would the offspring have the modded traits than the parent(s) didn't originally have?
And if they wouldn't have the modded body traits would this hold true for modification through the CM? (i.e. Dimensional Adaptation, Themes, Clockwork and so on.)

Non-Canon: Invasion of the Metal Maid from Mercury! by Feather_Up
What if Trimmau became a Kaiju? or
Invasion of the Metal Maid from Mercury!
Citizens of Brockton Bay screamed as a massive, rotting foot slammed down upon the pavement. A giant made of garbage loomed over the city, its misshaped lump of a head thrown back as it roared loud enough to shake nearby windows.

"Stop right there, Villain!"

Suddenly hope surged up among the cowering populace. Compendium, Hero of the Bay!, stood before the forty-meter tall humanoid. Surely he could save them from this foul criminal!

"Compendium." growled the giant. "I was looking forward to crushing you. Do you remember me, Hero?"

Compendium, Hero of the Bay!, froze momentarily at the familiar voice. "Could it be..? Mush? But I thought you were in prison! How did you escape!?"

Mush chuckled, a low and wet sound. "I spent every day trapped in that cell thinking of you, of what you did. It gave me strength in the isolation. It gave me drive! I faked my death choking on a celery stick! And then, when the guards threw my body down the garbage chute, my power grew."

The villain lifted an oversized hand made of detritus before his face. Slowly, each finger curled into a fist as he continued. "You people think nothing of trash. You create it with thoughtless acts and thus think yourselves its master. But I born in the trash; molded by it. I did not see a bar of soap until I was already a man! Nothing can stop the Trash Man!"

Compendium, Hero of the Bay!, stood his ground, refusing to buckle in the face of the fetid winds spewed from Mush's monologue. "You are wrong, Mush! For there is something that can defeat you! No matter the size of the mess, all filth quails before a common predator!"

"Hwa Hwa Hwa!" Mush's laughter forced it way out of the soggy mass that was his body. "And what do you think you can do, Little Hero, against who has become Avatar to Trash herself?"

"No, it shall not be I who defeats you." Several onlookers gasped, their hearts plummeting in their chests. Was it true? Could it really be the case that even Compendium, Hero of the Bay!, couldn't stand against the Trashbringer come to destroy their (somewhat) beloved town?!

"There is another," the Hero began. One finger rose to point at the noonday sun. "It was through her efforts that the radioactive rubble of Iran was moved and cleansed!"

Unnoticed by Mush silvery liquid started flowing in from drainpipes and sewer holes behind him.

"It was she who ended Bonesaw's bio-terrorism with Lemon Pledge and spankings!"

Streams of liquid metal pooled together to form a small lake.

"It was she who ensured the Anglo-American Cape Law meeting with off without a hitch by brewing two tankers worth of tea and coffee!"

Shining metal piled atop itself, soon reaching above the surrounding buildings.

"And it was she who tamed the Machine Army into serving her as Roombas!!"

Mush took a step back. Fear and recognition visible on his sagging and slowly decaying face. "No, it cannot be! Not the Cleaning Lady!"

"She is a Maid." The Hero's arm swung down, pointing directly behind the now terrified villain. "Her name, is Trimmau."

Knowing what the Hero pointed to yet unable to stop himself, Mush turned around. There stood an eighty-five meter tall woman in an archaic maid's uniform with skin the silver sheen of mercury. Her face was demure yet attractive. Some might even call it moe. But to Mush her appearance represented the rejection of his power, of his very existence!

A scowl overtook the maid's face at the sight of Mush. As he watched, metal flowed and shaped in her hands. In her right it formed a broom some fifty meters long. In her left was fashioned a dust pan. "Hasta la vista, Baby." she said as she cocked the broom with one hand.

Mush whimpered, knowing with bone-deep certainty that no amount of garbage could withstand the ire of She-Who-Cleans. "Mercy-" Only a single word managed to escape the villain's lips before a giant broom crashed down on his head with force enough to shatter every window on the block.

"Thank you Compendium (Hero of the Bay!) for saving our fair city once more." said the slightly shell-shocked mayor Christner. Most of the mayor's attention remained focused on the broken windows and foul smelling stains dotting the street. Lingering signs of the battle between titans.

The Hero shook his head even as he took Christner's limp, extended hand into his own. "I cannot claim credit for the salvation of Brockton Bay this time, sir." he said, shaking the mayor's hand. "It is Trimmau who you should be thanking for taking out the trash." Throwing his head back Compendium, Hero of the Bay!, laughed at his own joke. The surrounding officials chuckled along, each casting nervous glances to where Mush stood frozen in solid mercury like Han Solo.

His own fake laughter receding, the mayor turned to face the giant metal woman in the street. "Thank you, ma'am. We owe our continued survival and hygiene to your efforts." The maid ignored him, more invested in adjusting a nearby apartment block to be properly parallel to the road. The observing officials winced at the sound of the cracking foundations as the building was literally shifted in place.

"Maids and Heroes are one in the same you know."

Mayor Christner was startled out of his visions of infrastructure repair loans and civil lawsuits by the non sequitur.

"I'm sorry I don't really...I'm not sure what you mean?"

Compendium, Hero of the Bay!, pointed to where Trimmau was currently dusting off the top of a grocery store. Gravel scattered across the street as he spoke. "Maids clean up messes, it's part of the job description. Heroes clean up BIG messes, typically caused by Villains. Truthfully, a Hero is nothing more than a maid with larger goals and a funny uniform!"

Mayor Christner considered this viewpoint for all of thirty seconds before promptly disgarding it. "Well the city has things in hand now, so if there is anything we are keeping you from...?" Years of diplomatic experience was called upon to keep the hope out of his voice.

"You are quite right Mayor! Villany has been thwarted here and now but there are many other places not so fortunate! I must go, but remember! If ever there is need of me or Trimmau simply light the Compendi-Symbol and we shall be there. Now, Compendium Away!"

With those final parting words (and knowing how mad Glen Chambers will be for not including his tagline) the Heroes of the day left. Maid shattering pavement below with her steps as the summoner flew overhead with fist extended. Down below Crystal Pelham stood cheering him on while wearing a cheerleader's uniform rendition of her normal Laserdream costume.

-X-

Alex snorted awake from his nap. The first few seconds of conciousness were devoted to confusion, self-reflection, bafflement, and more confusion.

"...What is going on in my subconcious to have dreamed up that?"

This omake was brought to you in reponse to our QM saying that Trimmau cannot 'maid' as a kaiju. It is a (ridiculous) rebuttal.

...Seriously, though. Why did I post this, it's so dumb.

After a week of binging I've finally caught up from the beginning after stopping before Leviathan lol. The stories awesome I desire 100 chapters more to lose myself in and I'm very very excited to see more of the interactions he has both in his social life but also using his powers to enhance his fellow heroes.

The thought of Colin's face when he gets to pick a personally specific class to upgrade his already impressive abilities is something I'm very eager to see. Also tbh if he didn't have the 100 second limit I could see Howard being an amazing partner for Armsmaster especially if he could modify it.

A close third would be the machine spirit Alex has but that's probably just putting a hat on a hat for him.

Love the story can't wait for more, also Crystal is great female love interest really enjoy fics with her.

What if Trimmau became a Kaiju? or
Invasion of the Metal Maid from Mercury!
That was very silly. And very fun. Thank you for that.
I'm not sure what to offer as a reward (and you still have one pending).
A 100-point entry linked to cleaning I guess? Let me know if you have ideas. (I'm in no hurry don't worry, if you're still busy take your time.)

TD;LR
Do those changes carry over?
Thank you that's much clearer. Let's see.
The easiest first, any temporary change provided by the CM (Theme, Modifiers, boosts) would not carry over to any babies. Even if those change were applied at the time of conception.
Dimension Adaptation is different because it's a permanent and fundamental change to the makeup of the creature. That would carry over (if after the change the creature can still reproduce).

Now for the meat of the matter. First, we must look at Controlled Reproduction.

You can allow your summoned creature to reproduce either with other compatible summoned creatures or with normal beings. You do not have any specific control over the resulting offspring, but they start with a favorable impression of you. In addition, you can double the growth rate of any such offspring until they reach adulthood.

Please note two important words: "other" and "compatible".
This power does not allow a creature to spontaneously lay eggs, mate with a creature with completely different biology, or build a clone of itself from scratch. If you have Controlled reproduction a Celestial Menagerie cat could make kittens with a normal cat, not with a toaster (even if the toaster is also from the CM).

Then we have two different situations (or more but let's keep it at two for simplicity's sake), biological and non-biological.

For the Biological creatures, we have yet again two situations.
Those that have been modified by implanting things inside or on them, from tattoos to electronic chips, to metal bones, wouldn't transmit those traits.
Those that have been modified biologically, by Panacea for example, like increased muscle mass, bone spikes on their back, additional limbs, or whatever could pass those traits to their offspring if the Panacea bothered to encode those changes in their DNA (or equivalent). If she applied a modification by sculpting the flesh but not the underlying code of the creature it can't be passed over.

Finally, we reached the part that prompts your question, robots (or non-biological creatures in general).
We'll be taking our very first creature as an example, the Spider Bot.

With or without Controlled Reproduction it can't reproduce by itself. Even if you put two Spider Bots together in a cozy hotel room, put a sticker male on one and a sticker female on the other, give them all the parts, and tell them to get to work making a new Spider bot. It won't work. Even if you make it an order as a Keeper of the Celestial Menagerie it still won't work! This robot simply cannot do so.

What Controlled Reproduction does for robots, is to give the Keeper the knowledge necessary to build new ones. But it doesn't provide the parts, you still need to find them or build them too (and that's not necessarily included in the instruction depending on how far you're starting from).
If you have an Adamantine golem but no Adamantine you won't get very far. In fact, you won't even leave the starting block.

As for the matter of modification on a robot carrying over. They only do so if you choose to include them during the construction.

One final point, to be thorough, there's a Capstone power that costs 1000 called Impossible Hybrid. That does allow you to choose two CM creatures and generate out of nothing a hybrid of those two creatures regardless of biology, physics, or even logic. And you get to choose what powers and abilities carry over to the Hybrid, including modification that normally wouldn't.

After a week of binging I've finally caught up from the beginning after stopping before Leviathan lol. The stories awesome I desire 100 chapters more to lose myself in and I'm very very excited to see more of the interactions he has both in his social life but also using his powers to enhance his fellow heroes.

That's really gratifying to hear. Thank you very much. you'll get to see Crystal right at the start of the next chapter.

@zagan
I am glad you appreciated it. I am still looking through the SCP category (by which I mean I am literally looking into every 200-point entry and below and making a list of notable creatures) but I have managed to reach the 800s. I really wish I knew why the dumb monster-maid omake only took forty minutes start to finish where most of my writing takes days.

Anyway, the only 100-point entry that stands out to me is the new silverwood that was recently added but calling that a 'cleaning' summon is a stretch. It does purify areas of tainted magic but that probably isn't the same. Otherwise the only entry I can think of that fits those parameters is the bubbles card from C.C.S. If you cannot justify the former go with the latter I suppose?

The Silverwood is fine. It fits reasonably and it's magical like Trimmau. That will be one more magical material for Alex to play with. It works for me. Thanks.

One of the more interesting features of this entry is that it comes with a Pure Node. Pure Nodes are unique in that they can slowly change a 15 x 15 meter area around them into a magical forest biome, which in this quest I suspect will be explained as the passive magical energies they radiate soaking into their surroundings. How this will affect people and other organisms is unknown, but Alex might find use for a mystical grove or even just imbuing Princess' Orb. Also, the node itself can be tapped for magic energy.

Some other potential Servant Dimensional Adaptations:
  • Master Hand- Ruler Class
    • Noble Phantasm- Final Destination(Something resembling a Reality Marble, where Master Hand and his target are placed on a recreation of Final Destination. In this space, the target is essentially forced to operate on Smash Bros rules(they don't take bodily harm, but are defeated if launched to far away from the platform) Master Hand is able to convert toys into full-scale, full-power copies of the thing they are based on, and the target is transformed into a Trophy if defeated. Being a Reality Marble, nothing Master Hand does inside of it costs any Magical Energy, but the cost just to keep the NP active is significant.)
Being a Saint isn't a requirement to be a Ruler, rather it's only a requirement to be summoned as one in a Holy Grail War. The core requirement is Impartiality, and Master Hand is the one who creates the challenge, not a competitor himself. Meanwhile, a being who literally exists to create and manage a competition between powerful heroes/villains? He is literally a Ruler by his very nature.

As for Skills, he'd likely get a rather high grade of True Name Discernment, likely high enough to have a (limited) effect against non-Servants, and Magic Resistance from the Ruler Class, but being that he isn't a Saint he wouldn't have God's Resolution. As for his Personal Skills... eh, up to you really. That said, it's probably easier to think about what you'd want them to do and then just ask someone more familiar to look into it, than to actually go digging through all the various Skills to find out if the thing you want already exists.
  • Hug/SCP 999- Foreigner Class
    • Noble Phantasm- Innocent Son(A passive Noble Phantasm that essentially encompasses Hugs existing abilities. The ability to bring joy and purge negativity wherever it goes. With concentrated effort, the evil within ones heart can be eradicated, and to a being that is truly nothing but pure evil? It is the truest death.)
Okay now hear me out on this one: While it's not part of the article, so you can ignore it as you like and disqualify this adaptation, a significant percentage of SCP tales involving the settings greater cosmology portray 999 as the final son of the Scarlet King. A multiversal god of pure concentrated evil who, to put it lightly, would make the Entities, collectively, flee for their lives on sight. And 999 is destined to use its power of limitless Good, to kill him. Being the son of an extradimensional god is absolutely qualification for Foreigner Class if I've ever seen it.

I can see the idea. But sorry this one doesn't resonate with me. For me, Hug's place is not on the battlefield.

I can see the idea. But sorry this one doesn't resonate with me. For me, Hug's place is not on the battlefield.
Absolutely understandable. I'll definitely try to think of more, but it's not as easy as it seems because, to me, the most important thing you need to make a creature into a Servant is for it to be one of significant note. Be it the same species as a legendary individual in its source world, or a legendary individual itself. Metroids fit because they are significant to their world, Grace fits because she is basically the physical embodiment of "The B-Movie Monster Shark" which is an almost comically oversaturated trope, Master Hand fits because he is the single most important being in his own universe, but there's... not many others that truly qualify.

I'm going to do some more thinking. Right off the bat I'm thinking Massue could theoretically be a Pseudo-Servant for Razewing Ratha as a Berserker.
