I'm a bit confused on how this will have an impact. Will the person be stuck as whatever we transform them into forever?
No, Ally Transformation lasts an hour at most and Alex can remove it early. I believe this is mostly a vote to decide what form it is best to transform him into to handle the likely years of trauma he has suffered.

Though I do wonder, since some people apparently Trigger immediately after leaving the Bubbles (due to their Shard effectively being "on hold" when they tried connecting initially during Grey Boys attack, or at least I think that is how it works?) is it possible for someone under the effects of Ally Transformation to Trigger? Because if so then Alex might find one of these rescue attempts resulting in the victim immediately gaining powers upon the Eldritch theme being applied.

By the way, does anyone else wonder if changing the amount of mass present in the Bubble affects its lifespan? The only two ways I can imagine Grey Boy's Bubbles working is that either his Shard is maintaining them somehow (unlikely) or it is some form of self-perpetuating system like a spinning top staying upright. In the later case altering the variables present ought to have some effect on the system, though not likely an immediate one. I think Alex ought to scan the Bubble a second time after freeing the mayor just to check, it would not surprise me if the Bubble gains a few years after this albeit nothing major.

I'm not really sure how having a particular form for a little while would particularly impact anything.

Considering that the bubbles seemingly all have the same approximate duration regardless of how much they contain I think it is just a case of the Shard maintains them or else it's just a case of the energy expended during their creation is enough to support them for the several thousand years.

You will discover that in part in the next chapter and in a few others that will come later.

I hadn't considered that. I don't think it will have a major impact, but the next chapter will contain some experimentation with the bubble.

I probably should have elaborated on my vote:

Root Sprites always run away from the player in the game they come from.

Hopefully this guy isn't too terrified when we get him out of there and doesn't run anywhere using eldritch template we can't follow.

I can go either way on this I'd like to save our points, but out of all these options I wouldn't mind grabbing the Hippogriff.Edit: Adding Hinkypunk Featherup makes a good point that it could be a useful cheap monster for the Dungeon.

I like the Hinkypunk because it looks cute and disrupts magical tracking. Hippogriff because it's a nice ride and nostalgia. And a Brontosaurus because it's a damn dino!

A simple and cheap Creature to grab while points are built up. Nimue might be able to make use of their misleading qualities.
Oh that's a good reason too!
[X] 200 Brontosaurus + Micro Bonus

Long Neck.
Grew up watching Land Before Time too? 😄

While a Brontosaurus would be cool it's too expensive to justify IMO. With the Hinkypunk we keep most of our points while also getting something that could be good for Nimue or at minimum as power granting fodder.

Iirc people who are transformed retain their own awareness and personality so him being a root sprite shouldn't effect anything.

...You do realize that a form's senses could easily influence how a person reacts right?

Like, if I'm turned into a fish out of water, I'm going to be reacting pretty badly even if I have my own awareness and personality. I just hope whatever it is that causes Wood Sprites to flee from humans isn't some kind of 'civilization is a threat' sense thing or it'll be pretty bad in a city.

That's fair but considering the wiki doesn't specify anything like that I doubt zagan would screw us over by making it up.

Plus even if he does freak out there's nowhere he could go that Alex can't follow.

[X] 200 Hippogriff + Micro Bonus

I love Hippogriffs!

Would make a lovely present for someone who needs a flying mount...

We haven't gifted anything to Rory yet have we?
