-[] First, apologize to the Mashan delegation for the unintended insult. And give some context about why the Federation offered what it did (the general poor state of the galaxy in terms of shit being fucked)
We should also expand upon how Neon, a xenophobic humanity-first empire treated their people like utter shit. So it made us really uncertain about how an alien species that was nearly wiped out by the Imperium would treat humans. That fact that after all they went through, that they're still willing to give humans a chance is really commendable.

By dint of them only having production lines within your territory, and you providing them with much of their mundane or non-critical gear; yes.
Around ~25 Billion people.
Okay, this makes me wait with glee to see their reaction after we establish an embassy with each other. Their reaction to being an ass to people 5 times their size, with knight order at our beck and call.
Also, I will update my plan by mentioning our material support of lamenters so they may be the kickass badass that they are.

treated as an opportunistic fuckwit by people who are just Much Better People than you in general
But they aren't just better than us? The Mashan just don't treat aliens like shit and see it as a Holy Duty to look after those under their care
They aren't tho? This is their First Salvo to get you to back down and for them to gain MAXIMUM GAINZ.
And since everybody's got their dick now on the table with the hammers out, people can start arguing more calmly about what they want and how.

Like people already suggested, you can now apologize for a misstep and offer context, argue about legalities, needle for minor concessions to get greater ones once you let them fall, and all the wonderful wonderous things diplomats do that make everyone mad they didn't get everytthing but not mad enough to start a war because they got enough.
Yeah, this is just how the Great Game of Foreign Diplomacy is played. Each side goes hard on the first round to lay out their aims and do whatever they deem necessary to achieve as many of them as possible, and any misunderstandings don't help matters if they make the other side feel slighted or that the other side has a smaller hand than they actually have.

Thankfully, JoJo's BA has a clip that should help people understand the ancient art of Haggling

Just wait until the Space Balkans get touched. I think the thread might genuinely implode. :V :p
Sounds like a place where instead of talking we just say "Kark it" and just conquer everyone.

I personally disagree with comparing them to Neon or even mentioning our fear over them being in any way, shape, or form like the great Crusade era (or any era really) Imperium. I see what you meant but this just screams to me like the diplomatic faux pas.
We should instead focus on us wanting to speed up the resolution of the post-war problems that humans who lived under chaos yoke are likely to cause.

About offering help with rebuilding, we have 5 times the population and who knows how many times industrial output on Alliance; by helping them, we could gain a foothold in it with the possibility of the fixed systems wanting to join the Federation in the future and dragging the rest of Alliance with them. Not to mention gain a buffer state so we may deal with space balkans and probably a Necron tomb worlds sector.

From their POV we did at least 5 action worth boon to them in one turn

Honestly it's nice to have some diplomacy. To the point where IC I want the diplomats to do the equivalent of "Finally someone sane"

@HeroCooky question. Can we let them borrow one of our ICSs? Specifically our civilian industry one? They need to rebuild after all or is that not a thing we can pull off?

With civilian trade we can try and slowly convert the Shipwright so giving them several systems is no major issue to me. Best thing both powers are sane enough that i see no point in saying the borders stays where it is as we worry about other borders with less acceptable neighbors.

While I agree with it on principle, Weznicritt and Kalikrax aren't really ours to compromise; agreeing with the other sides that they can exchange said territory isn't really that important if we had an overwhelming presence over them, sure. But we are about equal to the temples, so I would put it as a separate thing; maybe the federation sees no problem with said deal or something like that.

As for context, I would omit some facts and nearly say that chaos collapsed the whole subsector, and we needed to deal with that to deny it to industry and the population.
How about this?

[] Plan: Context and Acceptable Compromise
-[] First, apologize to the Mashan delegation for the unintended insult. And give some context about why the Federation offered what it did (the general poor state of the galaxy in terms of shit being fucked)
-[] Second, give context for the Federation's entry into the war into 621- the Neon Protectorate and its fall and the sheer slog that it had been to push through to 621.
-[] Third, explain the origin of the Federation and its relationship with the Lamenters space marine chapter.
-[] The Federation proposes the following compromise:
--[] Offer a compromise for Yivv system- the Shipwrights Alliance can have claim and control over Love's Huff and Broken Line but the Federation claims control over the planet Fixxy and Tom. This is in part to try to learn how to cleanse and reclaim territory that had been so corrupted by the Enemy.
--[] Support the Mashan Authority's compromise offer over Murrs.
--[] Support Weznicritt and Kalikrax being returned to the Shipwrights Alliance
--[] Offer civilian trade agreement between the Shipwrights' Alliance and the Glimmering Federation.
--[] Set up embassies in the Federation by both the Shipwrights' Alliance and the Glimmering Federation.
--[] Zentraneum will be a Federation Protectorate, but in exchange, the Federation will offer to help repair the damage on the Shipwrights' Alliance worlds caused by Chaos.

Honestly I am not a fan of giving them Yviv. I think we are better off offering repairs in exchange for Yviv and doing embassy and civilian trade when applicable.

Edit: Actually never mind. We only give a shit about Tom so it works but keep the planet Tom is orbiting around

It looks good to me, but I would combine Zentraneum and keep half of Yivv together or separate offer for repairs as a separate points because, as it is written right now, it looks like repair help only covers leaving Zentraneum alone, which could put too much focus on it and too little on Yivv. For example, they could still demand the rest of Yivv without risking the support of rebuilding.

I also realised that I forgot to mention supporting compromise over Murrs in my plan

I don't get why we need to give up any of Yivv. If we have Mashan back us up on that, by giving them support for Murr... we can just... keep Yivv?

Like, why are we compromising with them on this? What good does it actually do us?

Like, so, the last bit might be interesting but why are we compromising on the Yivv system when we absolutely have them by the throat. The Mashan don't want them to have Yivv, let alone Zentraneum. So why give them a foothold or act like we need to earn the right not to let them exploit a bunch of natives?

I think we could also probably ham up a bit how upset we are over their misunderstanding of the Lamenters.

And you will note that they spent the last 10k years slow-boating it to the current era in quasi-hibernation getting to look at everything going to shit in fast-forward. Please keep in mind that the MTA is a 28K Nation in 40K.
Nope. A major part of their currently dominant interpretation of their faith is that All Sophonts Deserve Their Dignity Enshrined. Yo offering to take the humans "should they give you trouble" was perceived as you saying "you cannot follow through on a Major Tenet of your faith" by the Diplomats there. Count into that part that the majority of humans currently in the sub-sector knew either Chaos or the Mashan when not under a Human Government, and there just hasn't been any incidents without Chaos involved.
Again. Diplomats. Cross-Species Psychology and Language Barriers. Diplomacy. People do be saying stuff to get shit.
This just strikes me as terrible diplomats on both sides. Unless this is showboating so they can use the leverage gained for "forgiving the insult" to get us to make concessions elsewhere. That's the lens we need to be looking at things through.

Any diplomat approaching an alien species that knows very little about them (which both of our sides should have) should be capable of finding out their basic tenants of civilization (especially when we do have basic information on them) and couching terms appropriately. Similarly, diplomats being insulted that we wanted to triple-check they weren't going to mistreat people is silly, since it's so easily explained by us not understanding their culture.

If anything, us asking to ensure that they're going to treat people well should be a point for us, because it was high up on our priority list and that means we share values with them.

They aren't tho? This is their First Salvo to get you to back down and for them to gain MAXIMUM GAINZ.

This is an important point to get across. This is them being maximally aggressive. We don't need to cave here. They're intentionally downplaying how much we helped in order to justify why they should get more shinys. That's not being mean, that's realpolitik. We need to turn around and play that too if we don't want to get walked over now, and get a reputation for being easy to walk over in the future.

We're not shooting at each other, but we're not allied and don't have a history of friendship. That comes later.

One other point to add - WE KILLED THE CHAOS LORD. US. NOT THEM. US. (or at least our god did. Whatever). That alone qualifies us for a seat at the table.
Edit: QM word is that we don't know we did this, boo. Still, we can claim credit for killing off a major chaos sorcerer.

Far, far too permissive. This will mean they try to walk us over from here on out. We could beat the shipwright's alliance in a war, this is them puffing themselves up to get us to back down.

[] Plan: No. And Yes.
-[] Straight up refuse all demands for Yivv. Have the Temple Authority back you, or try to win their support in this.
-[] Similarly, Zentraneum is not theirs, even if it's not yours either in the sense of exploitation.
-[] Sure, I suppose you (Alliance) can have Weznicritt and Kalikrax.
-[] Civilian Trade with Shipwright's Good.
-[] Embassy with both good.
-[] The Temple Authority can have Murrs, they've offered the better price, also suggest them backing our insistence on holding Yivv and the neutrality/protectorate stuff with Zentraneum, or at least try to use the agreement to surrender Murrs to them to spur cooperation.
Much better.

I would also push for both us & the Temple Authority to each get a planet of Weznicritt. They can have Kalikrax. I'm happy to offer ISC help with this, it would be nice to actually partner with these guys later on and the best way that happens is if we build up trust and partnerships with them over time. A closed border just makes war more likely in the future, which is a point that we should be able to get across.

[] Plan: Yes, but Actually No.
-[] First, apologize to the Mashan delegation for the unintended insult. And give some context about why the Federation offered what it did (the general poor state of the galaxy in terms of shit being fucked). Then politely ask for trade contacts, especially with the context of our ISCs.
-[] Second, give context for the Federation's entry into the war into 621- the Neon Protectorate and its fall and the sheer slog that it had been to push through to 621, as well as outlining the fleet & ground force commitments that were made. In that context, we were a major player in the war.
-[] Third, explain the origin of the Federation and its relationship with the Lamenters space marine chapter, as well as our continued support of them over the centuries (including the provision of stealth ships to even reach the Shipwright's guild).
-[] Fourth, we killed a major chaos sorcerer as he tried to infiltrate our holy places.
-[] All of that said, Straight up refuse all demands for Yivv. Have the Temple Authority back you, or try to win their support in this. Similarly, Zentraneum is not theirs, even if it's not yours either in the sense of exploitation.
-[] The Alliance can have Kalikrax, and at least half of Weznicritt.
-[] Propose that each of the Temple Authority & Federation gain a world in Weznicritt, but in return offer help from the ISCs the turn after next. The stated purpose here is to build up goodwill, knowledge and dependency to encourage harmonious existence and prevent war that would only hurt our peoples.
-[] Civilian Trade with Shipwright's is good, and should proceed.

@HeroCooky do we even know that the Chaos Lord that had been leading 621 was the one that tried to infiltrate into the Tomb?

Alright, new version of the plan.

Merely stating that the Federation and the Lamenters are allies is missing the forest for the trees.
-[] The Federation proposes the following:
--[] Support Weznicritt and Kalikrax being returned to the Shipwrights Alliance
--[] The Federation will keep Yivv.
--[] Zentraneum will be a Federation Protectorate and will be able to decide its own future.
--[] The Federation will offer to help repair the damage on the Shipwrights' Alliance worlds caused by Chaos.
--[] Support the Mashan Authority's compromise offer over Murrs.
--[] Offer civilian trade agreement between the Shipwrights' Alliance and the Glimmering Federation.
--[] Set up embassies in the Federation by both the Shipwrights' Alliance and the Glimmering Federation.

Since people seem to be objecting to 'giving too much' away. Here's an updated plan, namely keeping the entire Yivv system and making the reconstruction assistance a separate clause/offer.

Because we want to annex them culturally/economically/diplomatically/religiously later and by giving them an inch now, we will take a mile later. Also, helping them rebuild will probably make it less likely that chaos will somehow return.

One action of help isn't that precious in comparison to probably five or more it would take to expand in their territory in the future, not to mention that we will try to look good and not imperial to the Mashan in anyway possible.

We also don't need more worlds desperately given that we have a ton to colonize already.

As far as the Reconstruction offer goes, it's nice but obligating ourselves to do it when we've just begun the Voxx Primus campaign seems like it will absoutely strain our action economy, when HeroCooky has basically said we need to put an action towards it probably every two turns or so, roughly.

So, like, maybe don't commit ourselves to gymnastics in order to recruit a small set of worlds?

Also, won't the Alliance get mad when they discover us mining Auramite?

Like, won't they feel cheated that the "consesion" we gave was in fact to our benefit?

It's just one action. And we got the damned hive crops research done plus all the other prep. We can afford to let the thing run by itself for a while.

Edit: The Voxx Primus project won't lose ground just because we let it lie for two turns in a row.
