[X] Mind Over Matter

[X] Plan: This is the "
THOOM" that comes right after a perfect parry...

this will be the first deployment of our knights correct?

It wouldn't be wise to underestimate Imperials, no matter how fanatical they are. They may be overzealous, but they aren't stupid.

While our Knights would be able to krump any other infantry unit, a lucky Demolitions unit can take them out, as per HeroCooky's words. If we show our best card now, Neon will likely start trying to think up of ways to take them down. While I doubt they would be that successful, I just don't see it as tactically sound to throw out our best ground units when they aren't necessary, especially since we aren't doing a Thunder Run to conquer where they're strongest, and use them later when we have the chance to get them off balance a second time.

And this is probably the blindest and deafest they'll ever be, what's the point? You're basically assuming that they somehow have enough Astropaths still alive despite being centuries since their supply was cut off that they can have them on every planet ready to report in fine detail to the center so they can do counterplay.

They're not stupid, but they're also not RTS players either. They're not going to instantly know our tactics because we deployed 15 knights on a planet somewhere and therefore they can look at their character sheet and do counterplay. "Yes, in perfect circumstances, a Demo Unit can take out a Knight" is correct. How are they going to intuitively know that we have Knights if they have no FTL transport to send couriers, no Astropaths to send reports, and ideally no hostile contacts involving them to report home?"

We had to bend over backwards to come up with a workaround. They aren't big enough or creative enough to have one.. And Astropaths are lucky to even live a human lifespan, and they never get Juvenat because they're expendable. The odds of them still having enough to have one on frontier worlds is slim to none. Maybe there would be one in Brotar. Maybe--but that's not going to be a fight that involves a Knight. It's just much easier to do a courier network, but Navigators are limited and we just flattened most of their mobile force, and without a Navigator? They're much, much slower than we are.

Question do our Lamenter ships still use Imperium design aesthetic? Might be useful for approaching Neon and other Imperium places for more 'covert' actions. Like having the Lamenters help fight Chaos at Gathin to support them and start trying to subtling convert them to our side though that might be a bit risky cause of Imperium willing to blam its own people at the slightest hint especially when fighting Chaos

... Can we point the Lamenters at the chaos fleet on the other side of Neon? I doubt Neon would turn down His angels showing up to help, and it might make them less aggressive against us. As well as propping up that flank and getting us some intel.

ummm might be a problem, the Lamenters are mainly besides the chapter master from our people.

that AND the Lamentors dont have a battle barge or even strike cruiser to be effective to attack the chaos holdings.

-[X] [General] Develop the Federation's...
--[X] Military Industry V

-[X] [Military] Begin Military Operations (Assign SAG/s) (Choose Location/s) (Designate Objective/s)
--[X] Task Fleet Alpha (20/20 Ship Capacity)
---[X] 2x Andromeda-Class Command Ship, 2x Proof of Our New Path Battlecolony, 2x Libra-Secundus Light Carrier, 1x Libra Light Carrier, 3x Crux Missile Frigates, 2x Taurus-Class Troopship, 6x Aries-Secundus Class Corvette, 4x Lupus-Class Torpedo Destroyers.
---[X] 1st Neumidian SAG, Order of the Blazing Sun
--[X] OPERATION: FLASHING SABRE
---[X] We have a rare and rapidly closing opportunity to force the Protectorate of Neon into a headlock favorable to the Glimmering Federation's strategic interests. Based on intelligence gathered from interrogation and data capture, our strategists have determined a vulnerability in the Protectorate's current force disposition. FLASHING SABRE is intended to be a high speed, high tempo operation with the intent on exploiting our strategic mobility to the utmost
----[X] STAGE ONE: The deployment of Task Fleet Alpha to the Brotar System. It is of the utmost priority that we seize the facilities there in the highest state of repair that we can. As Brotar will serve as the gateway to Federation Space in the immediate future. As this has little to no civilian population due to the hostility of the environment, and its mobile forces should be depleted heavily by the failed attack, we anticipate few issues with this stage, and should be considered our minimal accepted goals.
----[X] STAGE TWO: We must attempt to liberate the systems of Barbarun and Ikatun from Protectorate control and bring them to the banner of the Star-Child. Barbarun is of particular strategic concern, as it is the seizure of this system which will permit us an advantageous position, as we will be able to threaten Gathin with assault. This will effectively neutralize their defenses between the hammer that is the Enemy's presence in Valhidem and our own deployment here. Ikatun's mineral reserves will also be a great benefit to the Federation. The two in tandem will allow for the establishment of a stable, permanent foothold in Sub-Sector Amratur. If surprise can be maintained, do so, but securing these systems will be important in the future.
----[X] STAGE THREE: Should all other steps go well, and FLASHING SABRE has completed STAGE ONE and STAGE TWO in good order, they may--at the discretion of the Commanding Officer--move to STAGE THREE--a raid on Quintura Diablo. As one of the only Civilized Worlds within the Sub-Sector, it is likely a major industrial hub--one protected even now by a formidable Void force. Your objective in STAGE THREE is to do all that is possible to disrupt the system's void industry, and eliminate any SDF forces and other void infrastructure possible before reinforcements can arrive, then withdraw to STAGE TWO territory. Be advised that we do not currently have the star-lift capacity to seize the system in the long term at present, but forcing Neon to need to replace their industrial losses and the remaining mobile force reserves will buy us the better part of a century to build our strength before they are in a position to retaliate.
---[X] TL;DR: Liberate Brotar, Barbarun, Ikatun. Punch Quintura Diablo in the throat a few times as a stretch goal. If we can only take two systems, make it Brotar and Barbarun to get the headlock. For all the fancy words here, that's really all this comes down to, I just had fun writing this.

This might be wishful thinking, but do you guys think, we might get certain space marines and maybe Guillman to our cause? This is more for curiosity sake than anything.

Other chapters? Maybe. Astartes culture can vary so severely from chapter to chapter you can find just about any system of philosophy and perspective you could imagine from a small army of warrior monks, and they could well align enough with the Federation to decide it's acceptable to help them, though I wouldn't hold my breath.

Guilliman… I don't laugh at the idea, because as I see him he's an interesting dichotomy of rational vs emotional perspectives. He was the guy to undermine the Imperial army by atomising them into Regiments with the direct intent to make them worse so he could satisfy his fears of rebellion, and he's the guy who, despite everything, still looks to the Imperium as his home and empire. But at the same time he does understand to some degree how horrifically, unfixably dystopic the Imperium has become, and it's driving him crazy. I think we wouldn't be able to side with us, overall, in part because of his attachment to the Imperium and in part because I think, deep down, he sincerely doesn't trust humanity enough to believe the Federation has what it takes to survive. He's a scarred man in the worst way.

Damn, that actually kinda sucks and I feel bad for him too. I do wish we can help at some point too. What about the Votaan you think we have a chance with them at least?

you are telling me that nurgle reintroduced allergies during the long night (because I refuse to belive that Dark Era of Technology humanity didn't fix that)
Cooky is a wholemilk villian that made Nurgle do that to doom 3-4% of the population!!!!1

We've spent literal centuries ignoring the Lamenters' needs except indirectly.
We can spend 1 AP to have a symbolic act for them (helping them get their ships sooner) or we can spend 1 AP/3 AP to get them 2 DP/4 DP better ships.

And Astropaths are lucky to even live a human lifespan, and they never get Juvenat because they're expendable.

While the job of a Astropath is one filled with peril, they don't explode just at random. Its when they try to send messeages whene the Warp is turbulent whene they die, that or targeted assassination. The protection granted to them by the God Emperor counts for a lot.

As for Astropath being expendable, that is blantaly false. They are a pillar of the IoM. Without them or the Navigators the IoM would never be able to be as big as it is. They are often the only link a world has to the wider Imperium will have. Their death could spell disaster for a world as they will have no way to message for help.
The IoM is also bottlenecked in the training of Astropath. The IoM will never lack for psykers to train, but they are limitide in the scale they can train them. The God Empersor is the only one that can only Soul Bond Astropaths to make them be able to do their job, and he is limited in how many he can Soul Bond per day. There is no telling how long it would take for a world to get their replacment as the wating list is a long one. If they even get one as atrition and old age will keep the max number of Astropath availeble bottlenecked.

Oh and lets not forget we are one the north side of the Warp Rift. Most likely there will be no new Astropaths to replace the old one, with only increases the value as they become irreplaceable. There is no way they aren't given Juvenat.
