This is back-projection from our post-political present reality where universal suffrage is a sham and government proceeds by means of the bureaucratic civil service, but it is far from true of all places and all times. In particular a democracy like the Republic's, which demands civic mobilization in the militia and participation in the working of every level of government from factory and neighborhood and [ugh] national-cultural council to the National Assembly (because the execution of government is a matter of these bodies' working groups and not a professional bureaucracy), must and thus does inculcate political commitment in the people.

Youre wrong, we dont live in a post-political reality. Every action we take is intrinsically political, the fact that we dont announce it as such does not mean that its not. e.g buying milk in the supermarket is a boycott of vegan activism and ideology in a sense. What im saying is that not every aspect of human life needs politicization. much like the supermarket example, there is no need to have a national conversation and debate over some random guys particular milk purchasing habit or an individual pothole either. Should those concerns be elevated to something akin to a systemic level, then sure an issue may well become political at that stage but not before that.

as to the fact that we are somehow special because we have a military service thing with the militia. lots of countries still have mandatory military service and its not such a big deal.

a perfect govt in my view (within the bounds of this quest) is a central planning commitee for stuff like infrastructure ,basic services and investment into expensive things like space travel while coops pick up the slack of the private economy. a strong federal state with local representation. let the provinces do as they will generally but whenever they need help, the federal govt lends them a hand. Want to be religious? thats fine, Dont want to be? thats fine too. treat religion like a community sports center, some people like the sport so they go every week, but other dont so no issue there. Rival govts getting you down?, then go to war with them, but only after messing with them and victory is reasonably expected(no suicidal world conquest here). lets trade with our friends, and we can give them a hand if they need one, but we dont need to be mercenary and sell our soul nor should we isolate ourselves from the world (brazilian chestnuts, icelandic salmon, ethiopian coffee and chinese silk are all nice things to have) .

i fundamentally dislike that we have to vote for such a reductionist way of thinking. either its all coops, its all anarchy or its all state run. why cant we vote happy mediums?

I mean, as much as the description ended up relying heavily on memes (because we kinda fell into the trap of how convenient "grillist" is as a descriptor), it's also got a serious bent to it; I'd like to try and actually run a party like this if I can get enough support?

On a different note, creating a party with an intentionally identical name to the nazis seems to be in bad taste?

Here's what I'm thinking of for a new party right now. Planks in order of priority are probably going to be based around Veteran's care, assistance, and helping those not staying on as career soldiers transition back into civilian life; demobilization; looking into whether any weapons used during the war are unnecessarily harmful or traumatizing, or just aren't effective enough to warrant the hurt they cause; try and get together an international agreement to ban the use of any weapons that fail the previous; and making it so the CER can't manufacture justification for another war that gets a nearly million of it's citizens killed and millions more disabled as easily. If the CER wants to launch another war against the enemies of the revolution, fine. But the least it can do is look it's own soldiers in the eye and them they that they are being sent to fight and die to spread socialism, not point at whichever nation is the target this time and scream "they started it!"

This pseudoscientific eugenics evolutionary chart I got a middle-school student to make tells me that Germanics people who are genetically predisposed to republicanism are too intelligent and empathic to ever commit such a thing!

More seriously, psychology is probably more advanced ITTL, especially in Germany, owing to the progressive and anti-pseudoscientific atmosphere of the 2nd republic. I think an attempt to create at least the beginnings of a mental healthcare system is very much worthwhile.

Zimmerwald is referring to "The End of History", a theory that asserts that we live in a post-political system where Liberalism is treated as if it were "natural" and everything outside of it as "political". This is due to the fact that liberalism is (according to the theory) the evolutionary end of ideology.

The fact that we understand liberal ideology as "normal" has direct repurcussions on what is considered "mainstream ideology". For example, though there are plenty of parties in Europe that call themselves socialist or even communist none of them seem willing to talk about class war and seem much more interested on "equal oportunity" as opposed to "equal outcome". Every single political party seems to use the language of neo-liberals thus: All mainstream political parties are neo-liberals, no matter how they call themselves.

The only true conflict between parties is purely technical, they argue on how to better run a capitalist society rather than argueing about the validity of a capitalist society.​

This plan is meant to secure a long-lasting peace and to enjoy the fruits of victory while rebuilding our weary nation. The national betrayal against Germany will be undone and a defensive and peaceable posture will be taken in foreign affairs. The natural borders of Germany are won and we have secured our southern, eastern, and northern frontiers with allied states. Russia is beaten and France and Britain open to peace and cooperation. The Revolution is won and revolutionary methods are no longer needed.

A key part of this plan will be amending a grave oversight of the mandatory service law that prevents people from serving instead in the bureaucracy and civil service. These positions are vital in terms of the economy, logistics, and statebuilding efforts. The German Workers' Party will amend the law to make joining the bureaucracy and civil service an alternative to the military and National Labor Reserve that will grant suffrage provided the person has served at least three years in the bureaucracy. The civil service is the great arm of the state and service to the nation-state in this capacity is no less than service in arms or labor.

If you're looking for a sixth plank, you could do one about making sure the national ration is expanded to cover the new territories as quickly as possible. It should be one of our highest priorities and I don't think anyone else has addressed it directly.

Literally the same traits as the Communist Party, only tries to appeal to different groups. Not even to Industrial Workers, how can you call yourself Communist again? It'll just instantly merge back into the Communists.
