It makes sense if you skipped some updates, forgot about it since the first iteration of the quest happened a while ago or just missed it. There are several reasons why one could make such a question, though I don't know which exactly the OP's was.
How does any of this relate to the German Republic, which has even in its initial iteration stood against colonialism? And repeated that rejection when offered a seat at the table to brutalize Africa?

I'm not sure Franco-British bloc would ever be willing to use their own soldiers when they can just supply us with materiel to bled for them against the Imperial League, even if we make nice with em. The scenario where they would is if we bait the League into forcing the bloc's hand somehow. Probably due to some damn fool thing in the Balkans - which by the way is what both the main Radical Republican plan is angling for (the ConSocs doesn't really intend for their planks to be used that way even if it absolutely would be by the RadReps and SocRads).

A stance I am not convinced will hold once the promise of easy power and/or the threat of expensive imports comes along - that´s my reason for prodding.

We literally got invited to cut up Africa alongside other great powers, and said no automatically with no player input because it has been embedded into the state's principles. An entire continent ripe for exploitation, and Germany automatically refused with no prompting from the playerbase.
A more important factor is how we're not an actual country, but a playerbase playing as a country. A playerbase that has a considerable - if not majority - bloc against colonialism. Feel free to vote for it if you're for German colonialism somehow can justify it IC tho, because the deep seated opposition above (edit: both in SoN!Germany itself after inertia of past policies & a major part of the playerbase) means there's significant hurdles to doing so.
All I am saying is that I prefer having allies/friends around that are *Geographically close* in case we need them (for France specifically, there is the added benefit of our friends over in Spain becoming more accesible for us.)
And I'd rather not tie us too closely with the states which our electorate explicitly want payback from for the blockade - and the deaths it caused - if/when we triumph over the Imperial League. That said, more power to you if you attain a clear plan to backstab them afterwards.

I am not for GErman colonialism at all - if anything, I consider it one of the biggest mistakes Imperial Germany made politically/diplomatically prior to WWI - I just realize the tendency of people to *get greedy* despite their best interests.

Britain and France will never be okay with a socialist power on their border. Any accommodation we make is temporary, and if we do not strike first, they will. It's logical to appease them for now so we can focus on the empires to our east, but we will have to come back to it unless they have their own homegrown socialist turn.

While an understandable point, courting that kind of "caste spirit" will lead to a self-fullfilling prophecy and eventually leave us without any ready friends in these trying times ahead.

There is no way the capitalist class will willingly give up their own power. And as soon as socialists in France and Britain start looking organized, accusing fingers will be pointed at us, no matter how much they profess to work through democratic and peaceful means.
We have some time, and Britain holding our debt means they have some incentives to not jump the gun, but expecting peace forever on that front is really misunderstanding what drives our neighbours and how existentially threatening we are to them.

So yesterday was a general election in my country, and I am still in the mood for doing electoral analysis, so I am going to do that for this thread.
The most important change is the rise of Progressive Independent which become a largest faction in the Assembly, reciving almost 30 percent of the votes, more than doubling their voting share. This in turn, cause the reaction by the hardliner revolutionaries (heh) which consolidate their support behind Vanguard Communists and become the only other faction to increase their voter shares. Although I cannot said for certain without a more through analysis whatever this is due to the increased radicalisation of the more moderate voices or the mobilisation of previously dormant voters (questers) who are already radicalised.
The biggest losers is, no doubt, the relatively centrist Radical Republicans, Social Radicals, and Constitutional Socialist, which suffered almost 9 percent decrease in voter shares each compare to their predecessors. Radical Republicans individually suffered largest defeat from being the largest faction to the smallest as most of their members fled to the Marxist-Jacobin Social Radicals splinter.
The Anarchist, while also suffered a small decrease in term of percentage, did menage to increase the number of voters in an absolute term and seem to stabilised in their niche.
In term of party coherency (not included in a spreadsheet, something I possibly should in hindsight), Vanguard Communist is the only faction that only fully rallied behind a single platform in both elections with no splinter, showing once again the power of democratic centralism. Progressive Independents, on the other hand, is split almost evenly between the plan that wish to include foreign share ownership to attract foreign capital and the plan that doesn't and focus on domestic financialization instead, with the latter led by a single vote. There is also another single vote of Progressive Independents for Christian Socialist plan.
The Social Radicals and Radical Republicans seem to regain a board consensus on build up for future war, even if the specific of plans are different. Although there are a few more radical voice who wish to begin war against reactionaries sooner or commit internal purge, leaded by comrade Random Member. The Constitutional Socialists are mostly united behind a plan based on domestic development, although there are a minority (3 to 11 in 1881 and 2 to 9 in 1883) that vote for plan that focus on different aspects of development in both elections.
Finally, the Anarchists They were almost evenly split three ways (3-3-2) in 1881. The two leading plans were focus on domestic reconstruction agendas through rationning, demobilisation, land redistribution, and the support for the newly formed cooperatives, with the different being the dispute between the reopening of trade ties and the establishment of mutual aid network. The other plan in 1881 was focus on mutual credit and supporting of cooperatives. In comparison, the Anarchists votes in 1883 are almost entirely in support of the plan on structural and social reform with one vote splitting to support technocratic alignment.
Although the ProgInd menage to become the largest faction, I expect them to be shut off from the government as the Vanguardist and the Social Radicals-Radicals Republicans could still put together a majority of 1.79 percent. I also do not see a way that other factions would be willing to allies with them consider they are much closer ideologically to each other. However, it is possible that this will signal the new dividing line in the republic between the pacifist-developmentalist and the militarist-revolutionaries.
I already point out that while the ProgInd has an almost evenly spilt platform, I do not believe the different are sufficient to cause the true split, although their size might also mean the ideological division might be more possible as well. On the other hand, I can see the possibility that Radical Republicans might be fully submerged by Marxist-Jacobin Social Radicals which menage to established themselves as the main successor of the radical jacobins. It is also possible that should such merging come to pass, the new faction agitating for immediate war against foreign and domestic capitalist might be split off from the established board consensus on building up for later war. Finally, with how much they failed to gained traction, it is possible that Constitutional Socialists might merge with the Anarchists over their shared focus on domestic development and less aggressive posture, however, the conflict over the political issues of governing structure might prevent that from happening.
Obviously, all of this is from out-of-character perspective, with only a little bit of speculation about how this might affect in-character change at the end. Ultimately, it's up to the QM on how to interpret the dynamic of questers votes into in-character political context.
