Article:
Kenjutsu: 80xp to A-rank

Chakra Capacity: 8xp to B-rank

Ninjutsu: 13xp to B-rank

  • Basic Ninjutsu: 21xp to B-rank
Iryojutsu: 25xp to B-rank

Fuinjutsu: 20xp to B-rank
  • Storage Seals: 30xp to B-rank
  • Explosive Seals: 15xp to C-rank
Genjutsu: 18xp to B-rank
  • Basic Genjutsu: 33xp to B-rank
  • Sharingan Genjutsu: 23xp to B-rank
Strength: 30xp to B-rank

Taijutsu: 33xp to B-rank
  • Uchiha Clan Style: 33xp to B-rank
  • Konoha Military Combatives: 33xp to B-rank

  • Canon Knowledge: 20xp to B-rank
  • Schooling: 10xp to B-rank
Speed: 75xp to A-rank
Chakra Control: 73xp to A-rank

I'd highly recommend spending the five points to get her Iaido to B-rank, and spending the rest however you like, but it's ultimately your call on what do with your reward.

Edit: Accounted for Yog's extra 5xp to Chakra Control.

So what happened to that bird that Hisana summoned?

Also is there any reason we can't just take a few minutes (assuming we can use Naruto as a battery) to summon up some large birds and just fly home?

I'll note that even if we don't directly get synergies also from getting Leaf Style kenjutsu up to B-Rank (which we might, since all our training thus far has raised both sword styles in concert), the style as a whole contains some techinques we might want to make use of in the future.

I'd question how important going for at-this-moment combat boosts is too though. We're healing Kakashi, so he should be in a position to finish off the last of the fighting for the current trip, and you can bet on us having some training time again before any other real combat. While getting to B-rank might provide a real boost to our damage capabilities right now, our training should get us there before the next big fight anyway.

So, I was thinking about original techniques for us to create. Given how we're from the Leaf village, and Hisana's element is Wind, I'm thinking something leaf powered.

High chakra control and/or shape manipulation to create a sword/beam made of compressed leaves.

Maybe a Burning Leaf Clone? it's a clone. Made of leaves. When you destroy it, it explodes into burning leaves.

Or Maybe we play with seals to capture a couple hours of sunlight in a largish area, then release it in an instant/few moments in a specific direction. Instant lazer or bomb. Maybe make the seal adjustable, so at will we could also just have high noon in the middle of the night. If nothing else, it should unnerve enemies.

Or maybe we make Hamon.

Dude her element is wind

True. I'll talk a bit about general advancement, then.

Kenjutsu is the cornerstone of our build, and thus we'll likely continue to advance it well into the future, since additional techniques and benefits are unlocked gradually as skills progress, not just at Rank Ups.

We already get a 1.5x modifier to our Speed in combat, even before the B-Rank formula change, and Speed also affects our survivability through dodging. It won't unlock flashy new techniques, but it's the single statistic with the greatest numerical impact in combat. Strength, by comparison... the only reason to boost it is if Sage Mode has minimum pre-requisites, really.

Up till now, we've prioritized Chakra Control over Chakra Capacity, but that's probably going to change: In pure numbers, Chakra Control's efficiency in providing extra endurance is going to start dropping fast. (You can't have a 150% cost reduction at A rank, can you.) At the same time, as Chakra Capacity advances, a single XP is going to start meaning more than a single point of chakra. (Naruto has a teensy bit more than 6 times Hisana's capacity, after all.)

As such, for the short-to-medium term future, points in Chakra Capacity will give us more endurance than points in Chakra Control. Additionally, in the long term, we need excellent Chakra Capacity to pick up Sage Mode, which we were told our summons can help teach.

This is undermined a bit by Genjutsu: I'd expect Chakra Control to have a disporportionate impact on whatever the behind-the-scenes Genjutsu formula is, and Sharingan Genjutsu fits far too well into sword combat to be totally ignored. That said, something has to get the sort end of the stick, and I think this is it for us. We'll get it to B rank, sure, but progressing it to A rank is unlikely in my opinion. We won't be able to match Mango Sharingan Bullshit anyway, after all, and like 90% of the late game threats are immune.

Same goes for Iryojutsu. Maybe a bit more polish for the Mystical Palm, we'll see how we feel after how the next update shows our current ability, but honestly we're pretty much done with this path.

Ninjutsu we've neglected a bit, but I think that'll change. The Ravens are the "ninjutsu mastery" summons, after all, and we're an Uchiha. We'll be increasing our Chakra Capacity, as mentioned above, so all we need is a subskill to reduce handseal reliance so we can combo it with swords. Maybe something from the Ravens, maybe something like Haku's one handed seals. We'll see.

Fuinjutsu... The Final Hurricane seal is amazing, and may well be able to be combined with Sage Mode somehow. We should get explosive seals up to C-rank for remote detonation on the side, but 90+% of our focus here should be on getting our little forehead diamond to live up to its potential. The synergies with high Intelligence and being able to seal Edo Tensei is just a bonus.

Taijutsu... It's kinda there. General conditioning should improve this, but it's in no way a priority. I'd be fine never raising it above B throughout the quest.

Intelligence is interesting. In addition to (maybe) being part of Fuinjutsu and Genjutsu, it presumably dictates our decision options in battle. Given how many puzzle bosses show up in Naruto, it's probably a good idea to keep it topped up.

Canon Knowledge is eh. Canon's shot to hell, and it's hard to justify suddenly gaining ranks. Schooling... B-rank couldn't hurt, but we don't need to be a walking encyclopedia.

TL;DR

In summary, I think the optimal choice now is to transition away from being a chakra control focused build. Stop investing in Chakra Control, buff Chakra Capacity instead. Once Genjutsu hits B rank, shift away from it and Iryojutsu, and put those points into Fuinjutsu and Ninjutsu instead.

Intelligence, Speed, and Sword focus should continue as normal. Background Strength gains should be fine, with the understanding a future push there might be needed if it's required for Sage Mode.

Thanks so much guys.

I'm done drawing for tonight, I'm not super happy with all of them but i really need to get to bed.

Does anyone have any favourites or ones they think work best/elements they like? I've been working on character design to this was really fun to do. Right now I just plan to revamp version 1/1.5 with a different eye & eyebrow shape.

Hisana can be a smug little shit, like during her display with throwing in the academy, so that kind of smirk totally fits.

I really like the silhouette the dress and sword work together to form in the "hime" picture, even if the hair isn't as good as the "wavy" picture. (My favourite of the bunch.)

The braids in V1, V1.5, and "longer hair" remind me of Shikako Nara's description from "Dreaming of Sunshine". That's not bad, per-se - DoS was listed as one of the quest inspirations - but I prefer to have my mental images of Naruto SI's stand out more from each other.

The diamond seal and headband placement is excellent, though.

Canonically speaking, exploding notes and hiraishin aren't actually fuuinjutsu, though they might well be considered seals. The same goes for the various cursed seals.

Let's talk literal meanings:

Fuuinjutsu - fuu in jutsu - containing/binding/closing mark/crest/seal techniques: techniques which use a marking to contain or bind something. See: yin seal used by tsunade (possibly only parts), jinchuuriki seals (possibly only parts), storage seals.
Fuuin: an example of fuuinjusu in practice
Juuin - juu in- cursed mark/crest/seal: markings which inflict an effect on their bearer, possibly only malevolent ones. Examples of juuinjutsu in practice? Includes orochimaru's cursed marks, root tongue mark, caged bird seal.
Juuinjutsu: the field of creating markings which inflict effects on their bearer?

As for the Hiraishin, and most likely by extension exploding tags, the term Minato uses in canon literally translates to 'jutsu formula'. You might imply that it's a type of 'seal', but it's not the sort that 'seals' anything - it's probably in the same broad field as fuuinjutsu and juuinjutsu, though jutsushikiinjutsu would be a name only Minato could love, so it probably isn't called that.

Anyways, the literal implication is that things like exploding tags and hiraishin are created by encoding the process for a jutsu which is impossible (or unhelpful) to use yourself. It hardly helps to make yourself the beacon your hiraishin teleports, since you'd end up stranded in an interdimensional void forever if you tried to pull that shit. Exploding tags might involve an emulation of explosion release which would be impossible to (safely?) perform in person.

Either way, the fandom packs far too many incorrect meanings onto the term 'fuuinjutsu'.
Thanks for the explanation! That makes a lot more sense than what I had come up with.

3) For Sasuke, I am not sure. Give him some of Naruto's blood? Hard to justify, really.
"Hey Naruto, can we have a taste of your blood?"

...what?
Goddamnit Kishi.
You throw out all these terms with contextually meaningful definitions in-manga, but then in the databooks you declare all of those terms meaningless by generalizing them under one term which makes sense in one context?
Thats because its a straight mythology term. The entire calligraphic thing is a seal, used for sealing and other things(technically in Taoism and Shinto, those are commands for the spirits to obey)

Jiraiya literally seals the flames Amaterasu into a seal on his wrist. Other characters in 'Boruto' also seals ninja techniques into somesort of scroll, which is later on released through a wrist-launcher. So yeah, 'seal' is pretty much 'yeah, we can do that' and works on author fiat.

"Hey Naruto, can we have a taste of your blood?"
Oh, it's not hard to justify to Naruto, really. He's a trusting person, and if we can do blood transfusions it should be easy enough to BS something along the lines of "use some of your vitality for training" or something. The problem arises when it either works ("Hisana, Sasuke, please explain how you obtained Rinnegan") or goes wrong ("Sasuke, I realize that you and Naruto are friends, but growing his face on the back of your head using forbidden medical ninjutsu out of Orochimaru's playbook is still not ok").

An extra ten xp for you. Personally, I'm most partial to Wavy Hair's clothes, though the collar is a little low.

Think naruto could also get the rinnegan through blood transfusion?

"Sasuke, keep watch for us. Naruto, I'm going to need to borrow some of your chakra for Kakashi!" Hisana ordered, as her teacher staggered to prop himself up against a tree. She gently guided him to the ground, as Sasuke took up a defensive position and she prepared to heal her teacher. He was the most effective combatant on the team, and it was entirely likely that they had more fighting to do today.

"Okay, sis, I'm ready." Naruto said, as Hisana felt his hand touch her shoulder. She made a single handseal, and channeled chakra through the seal on her forehead.

"Final Hurricane Seal: Release!" She shouted, red lines running down her face. A massive influx of chakra pumped through her system; the extended pseudo-coils formed by the seal the only way her body could use such a large amount of chakra without serious damage. Her hand flickered with green energy, her Mystical Palm jutsu working off of her vastly inflated chakra stores. Naruto's chakra flowed into her; as she converted it to medical chakra. It was brutally inefficient, but it worked.

Kakashi's side began to knit itself back together as Hisana poured absurd amounts of medical chakra into it. Some ammount of it was also transferred to Kakashi, through a delicate process that took perhaps ten minutes. Her teacher never lost consciousness during the procedure, but it was a close thing.

"You know, you remind me of some old teammates of mine..." Kakashi said, as they prepared to get moving again. He looked almost pensive for a moment, and Hisana cringed internally. She knew who he meant by that, of course. She also knew it was meant as a compliment yet being compared to Obito was manifestly not a compliment; in her eyes. She'd even thought long and hard about wearing a traditional Uchiha uniform; but decided that if she was serious about this clan business she'd have to have a head start on redeeming it.

"The one who gave you that eye?" Hisana asked, retracting her seal back into an almost-empty diamond on her forehead. Team Seven leapt once more into the tree branches, whilst Kakashi and Hisana continued their conversation.

"Him, and another." Kakashi said quietly, as Hisana felt yet more chakra signatures approaching. These were spread out over far too much space, certainly a being larger than any natural man. Then she felt them fire off a jutsu of some kind.

"INCOMING!" Hisana shouted, Team Seven scattering as massive spears of wood came flying at them. Hisana and Kakashi leapt from spear to spear, firing off massive bullets of wind and lightning respectively. Team Seven's return fire struck down one of their attackers, but the remaining three waded into the vision shortly after. That had been an expensive attack for Kakashi and Hisana; they couldn't have afforded to take out all three remaining opponents like that.

The three chakra signatures were three massive amalgamations of many Zetsu; heads and arms sticking out all over the place. Their chakra seemed to flow in a spiral pattern, emanating from a point in the centre of their torso.

"What are those things!?" Naruto shouted, backing up slightly.

"They're made from people," Sasuke said, disgusted.

"Focus! River formation!" Kakashi shouted, as the giant Zetsu slowly lumbered towards them. Dozens of Naruto clones popped into existence, the smoke clouding Team Seven from sight. Three simultaneous grand fireballs shot out from the cloud of smoke, one for each of the giant Zetsu. Just before impact, dozens of wind jutsu came screaming out of the dissipating smoke cloud; slamming into the fireballs and turning them into massive explosions. Team Seven shielded themselves from the blast behind an Earth jutsu of Kakashi's, but even so they still felt it's power.

The nearby forest had been turned into a disaster area; trees blown down, shattered, and burning. The three giant zetsu had lost most of their body mass, but they were rapidly regenerating. Paper white flesh seemed to simply sprout from what remained, burnt skin flaking off. Hisana thought desperately about what was different to their first volley.

"It seems that unless we hit the core, they'll keep regenerating," Kakashi said, his Sharingan uncovered.

"I might be able to get at it with my sword, sensei," Hisana said, her hands going to her waist as she readied herself to go on the offensive.

"Me and Sasuke have a plan, sensei!" Naruto shouted, grinning as he and Sasuke started to unravel scrolls. At a wordless signal from Kakashi, they all leapt into action.

Hisana ran forward, only to have the giant Zetsu fire off another barrage of wooden spears straight from its torso. Hisana leapt from spear to spear; unleashing her sword in a powerful Iaido strike that cost the beast an arm. She jumped away, blowing out its joints with chakra-coated kunai. Her sword burning red, she launched herself forward off a tree and cut straight through the Zetsu's left leg. It swung it's fist at her with suprsing speed; but she managed to dodge the massive blow. Dirt exploded upwards after the Zetsu's fist met the ground, and Hisana darted in and cut off its other leg.

Dozens of Naruto clones holding thick metal chains jumped around the zetsu, managing to pin it in place for another group of Naruto clones and Sasuke to finish preparing their weapon - a steel pike, crackling with lightning chakra. The Zetsu raged against the chains, popping some of them back into smoke, but the two genin managed to hold the giant down.

Sasuke, and the pike, were launched up into the air by the other group of Naruto clones. He flew downwards, pike extended, and hit his target. The polearm went clean through the Zetsu's torso, core, and into the ground. It started to blacken and shrivel, the creature most definitely dead.

Hisana, having only a few moments before the Zetsu's limbs regenerated, leapt atop it's torso. Holding her sword upside down, she stabbed at the creature's heart. Her sword reached its core, killing the creature.

Kakashi bound the creature in heavy earthen restraints, baked solid with fire ninjutsu. His Sharingan eye uncovered, lightning chakra rushed to his hand. A sound like the chirping of a thousand birds filled the blast-created clearing; brilliant white light flashing off the chakra in his hand. The Zetsu screamed, but it was well and truly restrained as Kakashi rushed forward. His jutsu blew a path in the forest floor alongside him as he ran at his target; and his chidori blew straight through the artificial, paper white flesh of the Zetsu.

Team Seven managed, finally, to stagger back to the gates of Konoha. All of them, even naruto, were low on chakra and utterly exhausted. By the time they made it home, a particuarly ambitious academy student could have taken them all on. Kakashi had to be supported by Sasuke and Naruto, and Hisana was leaning on her sheathed sword.

"Team Seven... reporting back from a mission," Kakashi managed, his arm shaking as he held out their papers. He was only barely holding back unconsciousness, like he was ready to go to sleep standing up.

"Hey, we need transport to the hospital quick over here! Someone send a runner to the Hokage!" shouted one of the gate guards. Kakashi was loaded onto a stretcher and rushed to hospital; and his students were escorted there by concerned looking guards. Some time later, Hisana collapsed into a hospital bed with a sense of accomplishment.

She'd survived her first C-rank, and Team Seven were more than prepared for what came next.

After this mission Team Seven will have three weeks of downtime, choose three of the options below and vote by plan.

@Tekomandor would these training write-ins be allowed:
1) Combination ninjutsu - train ninjutsu combinations together with Sasuke and Naruto, including "one provides chakra, the other shapes the jutsu" combos (Gamabunta and Naruto did this in canon, with Naruto controlling Gamabunta's chakra to create a giant henge)
2) Teach Naruto shadow clone training method (would this count as a free action if done by itself?) and work out optimized training schedule with him utilizing it (ie not "all one hundred clones tries to do the same thing", but something more complex, where different clones each have different training schedules for maximum overall efficiency)
3) Start working on Rasengan training regiment with Naruto and Sasuke, under the guise of chakra control exercises
