Since when was Shisui S-rank?

Since he obtained Magical Eyeballs that automatically warped reality until he was one of the strongest characters in the series.

Since Danzo called him the strongest Uchiha of his time.

I mean, sure, he didn't get the OFFICIAL S-class status, because he killed himself before that happened, but if Danzo claimed he was better than Itachi, and Itachi was enough of an S-classer to be put as such in the Bingo Book, get invited into the Akatsuki right away, and walk all over Orochimaru, that'd make Shisui S-class as well. Itachi performed the massacre and 'defected' shortly after Shisui's death, so he didn't have anywhere near enough time to, say, get from A-rank to S-rank. They had to both be S-class at the time.

Exams 4.8
Exams 4.8

"So all we need to do is open the scrolls?" Naruto asked, as he stared up at the message written on the wall. Hisana of course had known how to pass this little puzzle for years at this point, and was thus able to "figure it out" relatively quickly. She didn't want to be here when Gaara decided to stop fucking around and pass already.

"Yep, just lay them ontop of one another. That should do it, right Hisana?" karin said, and Hisana nodded. She took her scrolls from their seals and unfurled them in a cross on the floor. Karin did the same, some distance away, and they both stepped back. Smoke billowed from the jutsu-formula inscribed on the scrolls, and in the smoke two figures appeared. Both were Konoha chunin - Iruka and one of the gate guards.

"Iruka-sensei!" Naruto shouted, as Karin checked the bindings on her teammates.

"Hello, Naruto. I wasn't expecting to see you quite so soon but-" Iruka began, but Hisana cut him off.

"Iruka-sensei, we need to report in to someone with authority right away, the Exams have been compromised," Hisana said, her voice like steel. Iruka looked at her sharply, then nodded. The other chunin moved into a defensive position as Iruka disappeared in a flash of shunshin.

"What's with the one and a half Grass teams?" the Chunin asked.

"Hiroyuki and Karin were witnesses to, well, the attack," Hisana said, pointing out the genin to the chunin, then continued. "The two restrained ones over there are ringers sent to assassinate Karina and possibly accomplish other objectives," Hisana concluded, as a squad of ANBU blurred into the room.

"Team Seven, foreign guests - please follow us immediately," the ANBU said, his or her voice disguised by some mechanical system. At once, they were off and Hisana followed them through the tower, reaching a large room in the centre. Kakashi stood next to the Hokage, the two of them breaking off their conversation as the genin arrived.

"Give me the basics as soon as possibile, Miss Uchiha," Sarutobi said, his normal grandfatherly air gone. So Hisana gave a rapid fire report, corroborated at various points by the rest of them. Sarutobi's face grew tighter and tighter as Hisana gave her report. As she finished, he sighed.

"Cat, take Hiroyuki and arrange a room for him. Miss Uzumaki, wait outside - hand off your prisoners to Rabbit," Sarutobi said, quickly, the Grass genin understanding that what was about to be said wasn't for them to hear. "Now that we've got something of a handle on those two for now... Kakashi, I want you to take your team and get them settled in the competitor's quarters. I'm assigning you to the security of the Tower. I'll assign as much of your old coworkers to you as I can - make sure no one gets into the competitor's area who isn't supposed to be. Now, as to you three. I can't say that what you endured is in any way something we expect out of chunin, but I'll make sure it's counted towards your score, anyway. Keep your heads down, and keep safe until the Second Exam is over. You'll receive new orders then. Is that understood?" Sarutobi finished.

"Yes, Lord Hokage," Said Kakashi, Hisana, and Sasuke almost as one. Naruto, however, was perpetually unaware of what protocol even was.

"Sure thing, old man!" He said, and they were one their way to the competitor's quarters. Due to the rules of the Exams, they had to stay here and were ineligible to receive medical treatment or other assistance unless their lives were in danger, until the end of the Second Exam. They made the journey their mostly in silence, and when they arrived Kakashi only barely managed to speak.

"So, uh, I know you guys haven't really had the most normal time as genin... but good luck, okay?" Kakashi said, and then vanished. Team Seven made their way to their assigned room - two sets of bunk beds, writing table, and not much else - and collapsed into bed. All three of them were utterly exhausted by the events of the day, and were soon asleep.

Hisana woke to a knocking at her door. She didn't feel particuarly rested - perhaps four hours of sleep at most - but got up anyway. Her sword sheathed at her waist once more, she cautiously opened the door. Her teammates were asleep behind her, and they should have posted a damn watch. Karin stood on the other side of the door, wearing a different headband to the last one she'd been sporting.

"How on earth did you convince Konoha to let you join up so quickly?" Hisana asked.

"I let them read my mind, plus..." Karin trailed off, pointing to her hair.

"There is that. So you get to continue despite switching villages?"

"Yeah. I did, uh, have a point comin' and waking you up like that. Killer Mcslaughterface is on his way here, so I thought you might wanna know that. And to ask if you wanted someone to talk to whilst you had dinner?" Karin said, gesturing towards the common space filled with tables at the centre of the competitors quarters. There was a circular buffet thing with some warm looking food in it, and that combined with curiosity was more than enough to tempt Hisana.

"Sure," she said, moving towards the tables. The food was bland and overwarmed, but it was hot and that was all that mattered to Hisana at that moment.

"You know what I miss? I mean, apart from the obvious stuff, like the internet and phones n' shit. I miss coke. The stuff they have here just isn't the same, you know?" Karin said, looking down at her plate. Hisana wanted to deny it, but ultimately she was lonely. Karin could still be an enemy agent, someone trying to ferret out Hisana's status as a transmigrant - someone with a secondary soul from another world. Yet she could also be a powerful ally, and perhaps a friend. And hell, Hisana thought, she had to at least pretty strongly suspect what Hisana was.

This can help plug some of our missing knowledge about what may have changed and how common over inserts are.

Once the secret is out, it's gonna be hard to put a lid on it. Look, all Karin is going on is that were a powerful new piece on the board that wasn't their before. That's it. There's nothing she can bring up against us if we play dumb except that fact.

I say we keep our secret. We can't trust her at this moment. Perhaps later.

Eh, why not. We kinda gave a lot of clues as to what we are already during our short time with her. >.>

-edit-

Hell, Itachi knows of us since he's the one that did the jutsu thing. So this type of thing isn't rare and don't get me started on the one true canon brigade.

-edit-

And possibly Orochimaru and Danzo. Then Kabuto because of Orochimaru, Danzo, and Saotori probably knows depending on when Kaboto defected and didn't or something.

Ninja spies are a complicated web of intrigue. Someone should write an omake about it.

-edit-

Honestly, being a transmigrate is kinda not a big problem if it gets out at all.

-edit-

In another note, Itachi is fucking lucky he got us when he did that jutsu instead of a rapid Yoai Sasuke/Naruto shipping fangirl.

Uh. Guys. The tower is wired for surveillance - unsurprisingly, since it's both part of a testing environment and somewhere foreign ninjas will be expected to be.

If you want to discuss canon with Karin later, sure, whatever, drop her a hint or wink or something, but do not discuss it here.
