On Thread Etiquette:

I'm not going to weigh in on the logic of either side's arguments, but I will ask that everyone read over what they write and really consider if the words they used are polite and won't be inflammatory intentionally or not. You cant account for people's tolerances perfectly but at least try to say your piece without saying things that can be easily construed as overly dismissive of the other side of the argument, thank you.

Please endeavour to be cordial. :^)

[X] [Name:] The Halls of Everlearning/ Khazagar

[X] [Defender:] Clan Grimseal. Stoic, Zealous, Defense Oriented, Very Greatly Increases Security.

[X] [Capstone:] Gronti. As Karstah so helpfully provided, you could certainly build quite a large Gronti to serve as the structure's capstone. Maybe a Dragon as she so, perhaps too eagerly, offered, or maybe a likeness of Thungni or Durin the Lost himself equipped in appropriate panoply.

[X] [Defender:] Clan Winterhearth. Used to Runesmiths, Mediators and Lorekeepers, Moderately Increases Dialogue, Library efficiency and Security and Forge Output. Who else? You have already planned for Jorri to fill the spots in the shopping district left after asking the store owners in Khazid Okraz. While your folk have spread out to all manner of places, and do all manner of things. Winterhearth Dawi are, in your opinion, some of the best Smiths and Runescribes in the world. One of the finest Clans there is! Though you can't exactly claim a unique martial tradition beyond your Runesmiths, despite your dearly departed mother's best efforts.

We've probably solidified ourselves as capital A Ancestor tier with this then. If not now, then a few thousand years after we're gone we'll be remembered as such.
Ya that seems about right although probably this tier...
Minor Ancestor Gods(?):
Here is sorta where the God part comes into contention tbh.
The upper tiers of this category would be the supreme Cultural heroes of Dwarfdom like Grombrindal. So old, and so storied that there isn't a Hold or Dwarf out there that doesn't know about at least three dozen of the stories about them. Worship of him is minor, almost unseen, but you wouldn't be surprised if it existed. If he died, like confirmed for sure death in front of enough people and for a significant enough reason, then every Dwarf would pray to him in some fashion afterwards. Though I admit Grombrindal is sorta straddling the line between this tier and the next, he's effectively the soft cap in terms of age + deeds I mentioned earlier. He won't fully cross over unless he does something institution or tradition making ya know?

The lower levels would be the great Kings and Heroes of Dwarfkind, though only post mortem. Dwarfs like Kadrin Redmane, Gotrek Starbreaker, Kurgaz, Alric Thungnisson, Katalin Kandoom, Dorin Heldour and the like. Note that in this bottom tier, very few save their Clan or Hold would consider them an Ancestor God. Being from the same region, bloodline, etc as these Dwarfs would be a source of great pride and obviously an example to live up to and if they have any worshippers outside their Clan or Hold it'd be in their region.

If there was a phrase to sum this category up it'd be: Acknowledged by the vast majority of Dwarfs to be of great significance and an example to follow, but still within the confines of existing systems. And/or, Dwarfs of incredible impact on society but the true acknowledgement of their deeds and value is limited to those in the know so to speak.
Rather than this tier.
Greater Ancestor Gods:
What needs to be said? The big seven, universally worshipped by every Dwarf, and here's the important part, while they're still alive. Grungni, Valaya, Grimnir, Gazul, Thungni, Smednir and Morgrim. Even here there's maybe a degree of very slight separation, with the older four being above the younger three in terms of impact.

I can confirm you have not reached either. :^V
We do have to build the thing first and let it prove itself for a few centuries so I'm not surprised. Although I have a feeling you know that and are saying we're here after we build it.
Hold Wide Ancestors:
What is says on the tin. Ancestors worshipped by the sum totality of a Hold. You would maybe be here given enough time. Pretty close I'd say. Which is to say, people from Kraka Drakk might pray to you in the nebulous future post your death. Known throughout the region, but not worshipped in any noticeable capacity outside your Hold.

[X] [Defender:] Clan Grimseal. Stoic, Zealous, Defense Oriented, Very Greatly Increases Security.

[X] [Name:] The Halls of Discovery/ Khazgandar
[X] [Defender:] Clan Winterhearth. Used to Runesmiths, Mediators and Lorekeepers, Moderately Increases Dialogue, Library efficiency and Security and Forge Output.
[X] [Capstone:] Banner.

I like the idea of Clan Winterhearth becoming part of this, and the banner capstone seems like it is best for power projection, which I believe will be necessary.

I'd rather do a Durin thing given that it is pretty much his stick we're trying to realize here.

Edit:

Coming to terms with the death and legacy of Thungni's Firstborn seems like a fitting way to end the Age of The Ancestors.

…you agree. It is so very close to that cliff's edge upon which damnation and shame untold await below that you wonder if you'd gone mad making it. You had half a mind to throw it away, to lessen some of the plans you devised; to make it more palatable to yourself.

But you didn't. What's more you, to your immense shock, find yourself believing in the idea as strongly before. That it was worth the stress, the scrutiny and critique that would no doubt be levied your way.
Oh shit, Snorri is onto us quest players! He is close to breaking the 4th wall and bonking our heads! He knows about the votes... :V

But anyways, that was a fun short update indeed.

[X] [Capstone:] Banner. A Rune array akin to the array on the Silver Wyrm Banner would be a mighty defense indeed. Or something more utilitarian? An array that ensures utter mundane perfection? Or makes the defenders an unyielding wall of death to any would be attackers.

[X] [Defender:] Clan Winterhearth

Don't care about the others too much (I'd be fine with making anything, or calling it anything), just want to make the best rune-iversity we can

Gentledawi, I have a proposal for the Dragon Gronti.

Perhaps a slightly mad one, but a proposal nonetheless.

It obviously will need a truly colossal skeleton to hold up, of this I have no doubt. One fit for a creature the size of a small hill.

We, fellow Dawi, have this. I do not mean Pure Gromril. I do not even mean Adamant!

I propose we take the last unused part of our greatest foe and make our greatest guardian yet!

Let us make the skeleton of the Dragon from the bones of Kholek Suneater himself!

@soulcake How big could this be, if we used it all, and skinned it in Adamant?

Huh. So it turns out dwarven necromancers weren't just early edition weirdness after all.

Another idea for a capstone that won't win:

The Eye of Thungni (structure)
An enourmous watchtower said to reach into the sky as high as the peaks of the karak itself. An exaggeration, to be sure, but those who have seen it with their own eyes will all confirm that it's not as much of one as you might think. From the very top of this watchtower no enemy will be able to approach without being spotted. Special crystals allow those standing watch to see for miles with startling clarity. Truly no beardling will ever face the danger of their good sense, or, more likely, bumbling foolishness, escaping the notice of their elders. But the most impressive element of this structure is the giant mirror that gives it its name. The Eye of Thungni is a mirror of adamant polished to such a reflective sheen that its very light can blast enemy spellcasters with rays so intense that there will be scant left save their smoking boots. Woe betide any foe of the Dawi that should fall under the disapproving glare of the Eye of Thungni.

Yeah. Dawi Eye of Sauron with a doom laser attached for good measure. Runes of spellspite, eagle eye, dunno what else. It's the concept that's important :V

[X] [Capstone:] Structure. Could be a tower, could be a gate, but you can make a part of the finished Workshop a true masterpiece. Perhaps making the entire structure repair any damage as good as new, if you can find the Runes that is.
