Unless I've miscounted (which I easily could have), there are 10 people who voted for Pactli but not for Nantli'atl, so there are 39 people who voted for at least one version of Death-Fog-Croc. Removing my approval vote for Ayotzl so Death-Fog-Turtle ties with the combined Death-Fog-Croc vote - it should be safe, since that still leaves Ayotzl ahead of Calquetzqui.

I'm not going to try tallying up the combined Death-Fog-[Swimming Reptile] vote, but I can see plenty of people who voted for Ayotzl and not for either Pactli or Nantli'atl, so it's well above 40. I suspect it's at least 50, which would put it over half of all the voters.

Unless everyone suddenly changes their votes to make something win by an enormous landslide, it might be wise to have a second round where people vote just for Croc vs Turtle. Everything in the three versions of Death-Fog-[Swimming Reptile] can be easily combined, with the exception of the "Mother carrying her young to the water in her jaws" sub-theme (since turtles don't do that).

... Unless you make the combination a Croc-Turtle hybrid, the way Ammut is a Croc-Leopard-Hippo hybrid. That could work too.

Older Slann: "Hmm... Which to choose - extra protective instincts or a protective hard shell?"
Younger Slann:
Why not both?

I'm not apologizing

You know,a croc turtle doesn't sound so bad...there are alligator snapping turtles (or natures way of saying fuck-your-fingers/toes).

Just combine the two, this we have a protective and hard-shelled defensive god.

Hmm, that works out! I think. In any case, time to get to work on the ... hmm.

Would you guys want the battle turns or research bits first?

research

get to see how our stuff is made, then we see it rolled out to punch/slap the orks.

hopefully we do well.

Research, both because it'll be relevant to how combat turns out and because I'm looking forward to seeing how Xantalos writes a roughly 4/3/2 blend of Ayotzl/Nantli'atl/Pactli for our new Death-Fog-CrocTurtle goddess.

Um what? Unless @Xantalos has said something elsewhere, I see no reason they'll be writing a blend of anything. One thing won, Ayotzl.

Well, I'm not sure what else he might have meant by saying this:
Hmm, that works out! I think.
... after a couple of posts about blending the three Death-Fog-[Swimming Reptile] concepts that, combined, have a vote count exceeding half the total number of voters (which the vote solely for Ayotzl did not).

Ayotzl, Nantli'atl, and Pactli differ in some details, but all three concepts aim for roughly the same thing. Satisfying a majority of voters by making a composite of the three heavily-overlapping god concepts is better than giving greater satisfaction to the mere plurality of Ayotzl voters and lesser satisfaction to the non-Ayotzl (or Ayotzl-as-backup) Death-Fog-Croc voters:
Whatever I can do to make sure as much of the thread's opinion gets expressed as possible, since gods are one of the areas I'm allowing you the most customization in.

We're here for Xantalos's writing, after all, not for our own recursive fanfiction.

That said, if I've misinterpreted that comment and Xantalos is just going to use Ayotzl, I'm not going to be upset, just less happy than I would be if he wrote up a blend - as stated earlier, Ayotzl does have considerable overlap with Nantli'atl and Pactli, so the really important parts of what I wanted would still be there.

Considering no one was quoted, my first assumption would not be that they were responding to a topic that has not be much talked about in the thread. Moreover, Xan specifically said that they would be consulting the thread's opinion as the voting went on to see if a blend was palatable. 3 voices is not the opinion of the thread as a whole and I for one would be a bit... peeved if the conditions of the vote changed after the vote itself had already been locked.

And I don't see why only people who voted for your preferred concept should get included in the blending? Nearly as many people voted for some manner of Construction being included and it seems like a big fuck you to all those people to say that other peoples preferences get taken into account but not theirs. If Xan wants to do some sort of major blending (something more than borrowing small bits and bobs of other concepts here and there) then I think another vote would need to be held to gauge how palatable that is to the thread because it's not something the thread has actually talked about much as a whole. And with a rough breakdown of 63 to 49 voting between fog/rest and something to do with construction (with a not insignificant bloc voting with some manner of vote for both sides of the issue) the issue is not nearly as clear cut as you're making it out to be.

Plus we haven't even checked in with the people (besides yourself) who actually created those other gods to see if they are okay with their ideas being blended into something else - they put in some amount of effort coming up with and explaining their concepts to just discount that.

If it's only @Xantalos taking some imagery or symbolism here and there and scattering it in, that's whatever, but anything that could be described as 'blending' is something I am extremely uncomfortable with, without an explicit check-in with the rest of the thread. Essentially another vote to make sure that doing so is to the majorities' preference.

I basically agree with @CuttleFish2.0 here. There are at least two large camps of voters: the "psychopomp" crowd and the "building" crowd, with some people who are in both crowds. On the 'building' side there were votes for Calquetzqui (the afterlife architect) and for Micqeuctli (the afterlife beehive). On the "psychopomp" side things are more complicated and there seems to be more overlap.

But if we're going to aggregate votes for different but in some significant ways thematically similar gods, it's kind of unfair to just completely disregard all the people who thought Calquetzqui was a good/cool choice and who are going to get nothing like what they wanted.

Like, I was genuinely excited about the idea of a lizardman afterlife that's this big bastion in the Warp being constantly expanded by lizardmen who are basically doing the same stuff they do in the materium. I thought it was pretty cool. But there's not really a good way to integrate what I wanted into ideas of the people who want Fog Seed Death God, and that kind of frustrates me if we're talking about this vote like something where we can 'merge' vote choices.

This is a pretty poor example, because Calquetzqui isn't in the pool of thematically similar gods that might get blended (as it doesn't use the seed and therefore has very different themes) - so people who wanted Calquetzqui aren't going to get anything like what they wanted regardless.

I may have communicated poorly, but what I was getting at is that it feels kind of unfair to blend all the vaguely similar fog-reptile psychopomps, while leaving the "we want a constructed afterlife" crowd entirely out in the cold despite them having made a pretty good showing in this vote.
