Attention of the Scaled - bioticgrunt
It is to be the second temple city built by the lizardmen and is to be dedicated to Sotek in honor for providing his aid to the Slann against the Mind Fog. An army of Lizardmen marched south of Itza, as if on a crusade, towards the land in which they would build this glorious new city. Stone was collected, crystals were gathered, workers marched forward with dedication, and cold-blood warriors prepared to clear the land of its remaining parasites. The ayacmanik's presence, no matter how small, would not be told by the lizardmen in the building of a temple city and thus all nest in the area would be exterminated.

The last defender of Xhotl commanded his forces raze the next of all the creatures who made their home at the chosen destination. Ayacmanik nest were crushed and burned without mercy, carnosaurs clashed with mammoth-like beast and carnivorous trees, saurus warriors wiped out Ahizotl nest, Razordons launched their spines against tiger-primate hybrids, and ripperdactyls rained death from above. Finally, after two months of bloody combat the land was secured for construction by Awanabil'tat.

Skink and kroxigors marched towards the construction site like a mighty flood and leading the charge was Awanabil'tat. The ancient skink builder issued commands one after another to begin laying down the foundation for the central temple. Obsinite pylons were embedded into the ground while a mountain of stoned was built while took his chisel and carved the chosen name of the city.

Coateptl, the city of serpents.

Geomantic energy poured into the city like a mighty storm which energized the skinks and kroxigors during their work and speeding up the city's construction. Every district -every building- was built to the design of the Old Ones but decorated with snake theme architecture. However, a peculiar phenomena occurred during the building of the city and that was snakes of both Lustrian and Mochantian descent swarmed towards the Coateptl with the numbers increasing with every district completed. Many worshippers of Sotek took this as a sign that their god had blessed the city and many sacrifices were made to the serpent god. This belief gained further support when one of the deadliest creatures on Monchantia slithered towards the city.

A shaxesh.

It was Shaxesh that appeared older and larger than the rest of its kin as the creature was 100 ft in length. The creatures body was covered in numerous from previous conflicts that it had survived and its eyes held a gaze that had seen countless bloodshed. A crown of scales sat upon its head as if to signify that it was a king among serpents. The great river of serpents split in two before the Shaxesh's presence as if to avoid blocking the ancient snake's path to the city. The creature's appearance combined with its apparent ability to control over lesser serpents have cause much speculation of the species origin; some believe them a creation of Sotek while others thought it was the god manifesting in the mortal realm. Worshippers of Sotek began to pray before the creature as if Sotek himself had manifested before them like he did during the War of the ratmen. The shaxesh slithered its way towards the city's entrance and the Eternal Warden was about to give orders to have it killed, the beast came to a sudden stop before the entrance. The reason why is because standing before it with a bowl in his hand was the first priest of Sotek himself, Tehenhauin.

The first of Sotek had arrived in the city days early in order to consecrate the temples dedicated to his God within the city's walls. His work was nearly completed when he received a vision from Sotek showing the arrival of the Shaxesh and what the Serpent desired from it. Tehenhauin followed his god's will and set out to fulfill his given task.

Both the Prophet and Shaxesh stare into each others eyes in a battle, searching for a sign of weakness in the other's gaze. A lesser creature gazing into the eyes of Shaxesh that reached 1000 years of age would have died of pure terror. However, Tehenhauin was no lesser creature and stared into the Shaxesh's eyes with no fear in his own eyes, his spirit unwavering. After what felt like days had passed between them, the Shaxesh opened its jaw wide and unsheathed its fangs.

The venom dripping from the Ancient Shaxesh's fangs burned the ground like acid and had a dark purple coloration to it. It was a venom that had increased in potenance as the Shaxesh had aged to such that even a carnosaur would die in a matter of seconds. Without hesitation, Tehenhauin collected the venom produced by the ancient serpent in his bowl until it was full. Once the last drop fell into the bowl the Shaxesh closed its jaw and continued its way into the Coateptl, into the main temple of Sotek where coiled around the God's statue and rested.

A.N.: will modify depending on the turn update.

Take care of yourself Xantalos.

Glad you liked it!
Oh no need to worry, this sort of stuff seems to happen every time I start a new update. It's part of why I like quests, since the hardest part of any writing project seems to be just getting started, and that's what I'm getting a lot of practice doing here, over and over again. I still stumble, but it's helpful.

Not sure what exactly's going on with the threadmarks by the way, they seem to be putting themselves all out of order. The omake ones, at least. Probably because there's 50 of them now. So if anyone's confused by the order they're in, just know that I am too.

I wonder how fucked the Mind Fog is this turn and if we freed the entire 5th gen Slann
I'm sure we did. Even with us only hitting it with a Mag 2 ritual compared to a Mag 3 we still have faaaaaaar more slann power on the dispel then we did last turn. I expect all the 5th Gen and most of the 4th Gen to be free by the end of this turn.

I can confirm that you freed the whole of the fifth and a good chunk of the fourth, though I haven't matched out exactly how much exactly yet. If you keep up this pattern of attack you'll likely be able to kill it next turn or the one after that.

awesome...if we can do this on the next turn then we can really crank out the knowledge, as well as start assigning out second and third generation Slann to each city while the rest start hammering on the orks and bugs...if we can keep a delicate balance going until were ready to come sweeping in as a massive "FUCK YOU ALL" action...well cleansing the areas around our cities will be allot easier.

not to mention building more second and third realm cities, if anything were prime to keep on growing.
(my best guess is to get every city we got to infrastructure level 3, just to prepare for the third geomantic web upgrade, as well as pushing for the forging districts and learning about the relics we have In the vaults.

not to mention find a way to resect the Dead Slann. If were lucky we could make a god of Life And Death...a sort of Ying/Yang god, a two headed turtle, with one head is skeletal and have eerie glowing lights, the other is alive and well. This way we can bring back our lost lizardmen from the grave as well as have a afterlife for them!

Where was that post explaining what everyone's armies would've been/are made up of without access to the Temple-Cities? I'm quite excited to get to talk to them again.

Mmm, there's one on their abilities, but I don't, quite recall one on their armies.

Respect Your Elders v2 - Galactic Boogaloo [Warhammer Lizardmen Quest] - Sci-Fi - Fantasy | Page 130

There's also this:

In all honesty there aren't many lizardmen feats to go off of at all - I built the entire notion of the geomantic web off of that one time Mazdamundi put a mountain between him and the Druuchi and TWW2's implementation of it, for example. But yeah, there are avenues for you to do biological fuckery. If you're ever uncertain, just ask.

Yep - obviously when you're more of an active space empire because that's the point where it starts to be practical to ask them, but it's possible.

They actually all have entirely different tech trees from you and each other. This comes from the very earliest days of me designing this quest, where I had two prospective routes and main characters you could have taken: Mazdamundi, which is basically what the quest is now, and Kroak, who had a structure that was basically 'all the elder slann go wander around the cosmos doing slann stuff' and it would've been a lot more centered around actively searching for the Old Ones. Eventually I decided not to do it that way since it was too complicated, and used the remains of those ideas for the system we've got now. So that's the meta reasoning, but there's fluff justification too.

They share a few key techs with you - spawning pools, mind fog breakage (which is more of a thing for them since they're away from the Web), etc, that they mostly don't have the facilities or time to actively figure out - none of them have a spawning pool to examine while they're off doing their own thing, for instance, but the knowledge is transmitted through the Communion once you complete the tech. Aside from that, they're mostly busy doing their own quests and developing down their own specialized routes - Chaacalot goes a lot into mind controlling legions of soldiers, massively-scaled illusions and the like, and is probably the most active diploslann since he can make minor polities do pretty much whatever he wants with his powers. Zaqunda eventually turns into something resembling a high magic necromancer, which combined with his defensive magic specialization means that it's tough as hell to even kill one of his guys, and if you do they just get back up. Adohi-Tegha has his subfaction turn into something akin to Eldar farseers, where they intervene at significant events with exactly the amount of force needed to affect something across the galaxy which was his real target all along. Huintenchiuli gets magitech robots and a bullshit space armada, and is probably the second-most diplo focused elder slann. Kroak, meanwhile, eventually just goes straight-up Seraphon and creates lizardmen daemons out of purified essence and stuff like that.

So they each have a path to develop down, it's just the commonalities between them that you help unlock.

I'm the person least able to accurately predict my own writing speed, but this is probably correct.

As is, we're just barely over halfway to hearing about their situations.

Man, you guys are ludicrously good at looking up stuff I've previously said. I don't even remember when I wrote that!

That outlines their personal situations and subfaction buffs fairly well, but as for actual armies, they're not likely to have very large forces compared to you guys. They don't have the same goals of taking and holding territory that you'll likely be using your forces for - instead they'll be relying on their mobile generation ability in order to spawn only as many lizardmen as they need to accomplish whatever task they're trying to do at the time. This is why they'll end up asking you for assistance from time to time, since you'll be able to provide them with the bodies they need so they can focus on achieving their niche objective.

We don't have the guns to make a John Wick character.

And honestly even then I'd wait until we have Chameleon Saurus first.

How to make a god and how to make the things that make weapons and armor most likely.
Aye, Divine Template is you guys looking at the engineered series of events that created Sotek and going 'how can we apply this to other types of scenario?' Forge Districts basically exactly what it sounds like - giant complexes of forges to build weapons and stuff. Kroxigor spend a lot of time in them, since I'm theming the districts around fire and the heat gets their bodies and minds moving a little faster than normal. Think giant blacksmith from Dark Souls kind of figures, as opposed to the later unlocked magic forging districts, which I'm stealing ... I think it might've been your idea, AbZ, to have the magic items made through water?

@Xantalos Question boss. With this new city, I'm going to assume Teninhuan will move there, and make it the center of Sotek worship on Mochantia. My question is, how will such city be different then the others, 'beyond the whole Snakes EVERYWHERE thing', since it's the first city ever built as a religious center to a Warp God.

I suspect something like pools of blood here or there, snake based architecture, SNAKES EVERYWHERE, and on the spiritual side maybe a boost to Sotek
