    "...Yeah. A real tragedy." You nod along, tapping the Soul Gem Ring to your Gauntlet.

    Man, it must've pulled out a lot more grief than last time! You're just glad that you ended the fight when you did! Any longer, and...

    "You should go help Kyoko." Kohaku interrupts, not looking away from her father, "She looks like she could use some healing."

    "...Uh, yeah. What about you?"

    "There's something I need to do. I'll join you guys in a minute." She answers with a tired voice. "...We can talk later. I just..."

    "Hey, I get it. You don't have to explain anything to me." You nod, turning to Turbo Granny, "Just gimme a shout if you need anything, okay?"

    Kohaku doesn't reply.

    You're worried about her. She lost both of her parents in such a short time, and...

    ...Well, sure, they might not've been decent people, but it still must hurt.

    She'll come to you when the time is right. You just need to trust her to be okay until then.

    You quickly put your hand to your Gauntlet...

    ...And motion Turbo Granny to set Kyoko up on a pew that you've dragged out. You give her the ring back, and she slowly puts it on her finger.

    Kyoko doesn't say anything, just staring at her lap.

    You tap your Gauntlet, and swap Virtue and Turbo Granny for Yurlungur and Devil Dog.

    Yurlungur floats around the room, cautiously looking at the pile of ashes that were once his body. "Hurt." He mutters.

    Devil Dog sets his jaw into place with a groan, "Son of a bitch, that Lorelei gal can sure throw a punch!" He chuckles, "My kinda woman, actually..."

    You cast a healing spell, while quietly judging Devil Dog for... Pretty much everything that's come out of his mouth.

    (ALL ALLIES HEALED!!)

    Kyoko still doesn't look up at you, but she mutters a quick and faint, "...Thanks."

    "Anytime." You offer a sympathetic grin.

    "...Fuck, how do you find the energy to smile like that?" Kyoko groans, leaning back into the pew, "My entire body just aches...!"

    "That's..." You think for a moment, "...That's a fair question. If I had to put it to words--?"

    Kyoko's looking at something with a shocked expression. You follow her gaze to--

    Kohaku stands above her father, mace already coming down on his head. The sound of a meaty thwack fills the room as blood splatters over the floor.

    "You robbed me of a normal life!" Kohaku shouts, swinging again, "You stole those I cared about away from me!" Another, wetter thwack, "And you lashed my back if I ever even hinted at wanting to be more than you'd planned!" Another, "You piece of shit!" Another, "Lash me now! Try to lash me!" She screams, raising the mace again. She bellows a scream of primal rage, and...

    ...

    ...

    ...

    ...Hino's head is...

    ...

    ...Kohaku is crying as she pulls the mace away.

    Kohaku finally getting to unleash a lifetime's worth of pent up anger and hatred as is her right. I wasn't expecting it, but seeing it happen feels very fitting. I guess that solves the question of if Hino was playing possum.

    Ya know, I fully believe that Kohaku's parents were reunited in the afterlife. Because Hell is other people, and the one person either of them wouldn't want to spend eternity with is the other.

    So her mother first gets a little satisfaction when her ex arrives not a day after her, only for the mounting dread of realizing she's stuck with him.

    She's already made it clear she doesn't want to be touched right now. We should respect that, until and unless she's ready.

    Medium Sis, on the other hand...

    (Yumi is Big Sis, Yuma is Little Sis, and Kyoko looks enough like Yumi to be mistaken for her and is in-between ages so she's Medium Sis!)

    Though I interpreted that as her wanting Yumi to give her space while she goes go-go-gadget Gallagher on Hino's head.

    It is possible she still isn't ready for anyone to touch her.

    I don't know where the whole "it's not your fault" bit is coming from though.
     
    I assumed it was referring to anything and everything Hino ever said to denigrate her daring to exhibit independence.

    I do wish someone had told me it wasn't my fault, back when I was a teenager. It took a lot longer of telling myself before I could shut that internalized abuser voice (mostly) up, without it. Maybe it'll help her.
     
    Pretty sure Kohaku already gets that this isn't her fault. I will support contacting Gabriel though.
