And then puberty hits him. He will still be a good guy, but it will take a decade or two for him to recenter himself.

Perfectly normal. Never understood that whole innocence thing considering he has Achilles hooked up to his brain-meats.
And Zeus flowing through his body too. Hermes wasnt exactly averse to boning down a whole lot either. none of the greeks were.

Actually speaking of in his brain, how many wives of Solomon again?

Ah yes... The OG Harem Protagonist with 700 wives and 300 concubines
His innocence is just an indicator to his true superpower, keeping these fuckers on task. You need to start out a saint if you want stand a chance actually being productive, the Webster definition of it at least.

His innocence is just an indicator to his true superpower, keeping these fuckers on task. You need to start out a saint if you want stand a chance actually being productive, the Webster definition of it at least.
Counter theory: Billy knows about sex, he just doesn't care like most kids before puberty.
I mean I certainly didn!'t learn about sex in school -- for as long as I can remember we had chickens and animals don't care if someone sees them.
Actually, childhood innocence is fairly new concept and only possible because cities don't have contact with nature.
Now, when puberty hits and he gets to hear the stories, that would be hilarious.

Bit of a problem I've noticed: Alchemist has fallen into the Gamer Grind wagon HARD. While he hasn't gone full sociopath Gamer like others were implied to, Alchemist has most certainly become far more callous about the consequences to his actions. At least outside his immediate circle.

Goes on a Vacation, prompted by his not!sister over him overworking constantly? Immediately jumps into robbing another world blind of every bit of equipment and treasure it would have used for its own defenders. And he did this KNOWING that world wasnt a one-and-done setting like the Zombie world. And in his "funny" exit, he drops off an endgame That One Monster into a crowded exit for that world's Only Amusement Park. Congratulations on pulling a Joker Genocide.

And this wouldn't be nearly as bad if it wasn't a repeated occurrence! He did essentially the exact same thing to Skyrim, only the consequences immediately showed up to eat his soul. That he just shrugs off the mutant arm and close call his flippery drew onto himself does not speak highly of his ability to avoid going total Asshole Gamer.

So Alchemist is obsessively grinding powers and loot, raiding other worlds he should now damn well realize are NOT just going to reset themselves(gamewise the Ultima Tome did fuck all, but an Unsealed Mysidia Tower is going to FUCK UP that world with no warnings to the populace and FF2 was NOT a nice world to the Heroes), and deliberately poking hornet nests over there and in his current universe with little preperation beyond his usual half ass sideways comments.

I could and probably should go on in more detail but the summation is thus: Alchemist is failing pretty hard at the 'Dont Become A Gamer-Sue' aspect of his Main Quest. And it doesn't look like anything is really building up to punch back along those lines either.

Congratulations on pulling a Joker Genocide.
Congratulations on deliberately ignoring the entire context of the event, and the preceding (I lost count of how many) chapters.

That wasn't a "funny" exit, it was a "fuck you, and the horse you rode in on" exit, after they deliberately went out of their way to screw him over. Added to the fact that the ONLY people present at the station were military types whose entire presence was solely for the purpose of killing him. Zero innocents present, only people planning to try to kill him. Would they have succeeded? No. Does that really matter? No.

Originally, he was just going to loot the corrupt (as in run by the local equivalent of the mafia) amusement park, and then he got dragged into a "fix the endgame" side-quest by the local avatar of his own patron diety. So he did, because he's not an asshole who leaves people to suffer in agony when they specifically call out to him for help. Which she did. Followed by cutting off his access to the "outside" of the local world without even saying anything - all he knew was his messages to Terra weren't getting answered.

Even then, his original "looting" plan involved "buy everything that I can afford, and cheat at all of the rigged games", and that was it. He didn't go full klepto until he got the panicked "Please save me!" message from the local Gaia. (Who it must be noted, tried to renege on her own deal in the end, as well as forcing him to go through massive piles of psychological torture just to claim the thing she had promised him as a reward for the things he'd already finished doing... hence his less than stellar opinion of the world as a whole.)

All that stuff he took, that was what "it would have used to defend itself"? From what? The monsters that were also removed while he was looting? From Jenova? Yeah, Jenova is really something they need to ... oh wait, no, he's gone. Shinra? Um, nope, gone. Shinra's evil science cabal and Jenova hybrid monster people? Gone. Shinra's evil kid? Oh, he got a facefull of forced empathy to prevent him becoming the kind of problem his father was, and to prevent him creating the world full of monsters his father created. And then he sent soldiers to murder the heck out of the guy who gave him that facefull of empathy, who were the only ones waiting at the train station for Alchemist to come play target. He declined to participate, but gave them someone else to play with instead.

As for all of the materia he took with him? It will grow back. Literally, that's what it does on that world. Areas with high magic cause that magic to crystallise into materia. The items in general? Someone made them, they can make more if they want them, but they don't exactly need them to deal with the big bads from the game, because they are all gone.

The Skyrim thing has been discussed to death, and once again was fully justified in being done. Not going to re-hash the ten pages of that.

As someone who got the same impression from reading those chapters all I'll say is that I don't remember that detail being in the text.

Actually, one more thing. Back before instant quest were a thing Mister Ficser said somewhere in the comments that they were trying to keep the dungeon parts to one chapter length because they aren't the part of the story that matters or something like that. Now I know that instant quests have actual consequences and therefore matter but the more of them I read the more it feels like a Jumpfic variant instead of a Young Justice fic.

Edit: I'm not arguing that Mister Ficser should rewrite the Golden Saucer section or return the story to being a straight Young Justice fic. Those are just impressions.

Yeah, that was my bad. I underestimated (Dramatically) the sheer amount of stuff that goes on in a jump.

The most recent chapter with a quick jaunt into FF2 was my original intention and then things... Spiraled.

Originally just go in, grab stuff and jump out. And then worldbuilding happens, then characterization, conversations... I either overestimated my capabilities or underestimated the general complexity of things.

Probably both.

It's lore that might not have been repeated in the fic.

In FF7, there are a few ways to get a new materia crystal:
  • Wait for one to crystallize in a natural Mako spring. It only takes a few hundred years.
  • Use a specially configured Mako reactor.
  • Fully master a materia crystal. You get a duplicate at zero mastery.
The naturally occurring materia crystals are based on "wisdom from the Lifestream," so if people capable of magic make FF7's Gaia their home and then die, their magic is likely to start occurring as materia crystals after a while. Same thing if someone designs a brand new type of materia from scratch.

Alchemist pilfering rare materia and removing it from the world is decidedly unkind. However, he stole mainly from an authoritarian corporation's military and unethical research division, which is not an ethical dilemma. Wutai was far less evil, and I disagree with his decision to loot it to the ground. I'd have stolen their theft-related materia at most. All their materia includes the cure materia they're using to keep their kids from dying of influenza, the fire materia they're using to boil water so they don't get cholera, and so on.

And this world was decidedly unkind to Alchemist, both figuratively and literally. And Wutai may not have been as evil as Shinra, they were still evil enough to execute the people that took in their runaway princess and returned her home safe and sound with no promise of reward (as long as you don't take the 7-9 year old runaway on her word). And he did not take everything, he took Yuffie's stuff, his stuff and anything interesting. Did he take a lot of stuff? Yes, they had a lot of interesting stuff, but he already has Cure for days and even if he took every single materia that has anything remotely to do with fire and heat, you don't need magic to start a fire or gather water or any basic needs.

And this world was decidedly unkind to Alchemist, both figuratively and literally. I feel like that's pretty unreasonable, their current leader is an ass who tried to execute alchemist, doesn't mean the entire country deserves to be screwed over.

Apparently they did human experiments on unwilling children, as well, in their war with Shinra.

And Shinra wasn't the only serious evil in the world; they were just the most widespread and powerful (if you don't count Jenova, which was both an evil unto itself as well as a source of bio-weapons for Shinra).

He didn't have -that- much time and he was in a hurry.

Basically Yuffie's stuff, the HP and MP absorb Materia, the armory to recollect his own stuff, the Leviathan Materia which would end up being Yuffie's birthright and whatever he could snag from the Avalanche and Ninja supply store they -technically- don't run. Which was full of these nifty Materia called Dark (Fire/Ice/Lightning) which would cause elemental damage as well as a status defect.

Mastered versions even had a chance of inflicting instant death.

Did that hurt Wutai? Sure. But it's not like he went in yelling 'Hyagh!' 'Hup' 'Hup' and smashed all their pots and stole all their rupees.

He didn't mention to her that he had redirected his other self, the part of him expanded by Bilocation, to go and loot the hell out of Wutai.

Godo thought his culture had a monopoly on Shinobi.

Unfortunately, with Invisibility, Haste, Teleportation and a burning ball of anger, Alchemist was grabbing anything and everything that he thought Yuffie might need. Like her limit break tome, All Creation.

Or the weapons he'd left behind and they'd stashed in their armory.

Or the interesting elemental Materia that Wutai specialized in that also caused debilitations like Silence and Poison. And the not-so-hidden support Materia that absorbed HP and MP.
I still dont know why people are freaking over this, he didn't steal any cure or fire materia from Wutai.
It straight up say in the chapter that he stole the thing that were stolen from hi, the things from Yufie and some special ninja materia, and thats it.

I think only one person is "freaking out" about Wutai. The first guy was going on about how Callous and Stu-ish Alchemist has gotten, the next guy was giving the context the first guy left out that made the extremely fucked up shit the first guy was accusing Alchemist of a lot less extreme and fucked up, the third guy was explaining FF7 lore and implied(?) that Alchemist had crippled Wutai by looting it to the ground, dooming it's people, children especially, to influenza, cholera, etc. And then everyone after him was making clear, no the fuck he didn't, where'd that come from?

Edit: In other words, more of the same that Alchemist has been dealing with in and out of universe. Poor guy.

All their materia includes the cure materia they're using to keep their kids from dying of influenza, the fire materia they're using to boil water so they don't get cholera, and so on.
So people have said the part about 'he didnt take all their materia', but also - this is a world nearly on our level of science. They have pepto bismol and coal fired power (seriously the entire Corel story is about mako replacing coal power, pay attention), among other things, completely independent of materia and mako technology. They will be fine, you literally see electric appliances in Wutai even though they dont have mako power, they dont need fire materia to power their hot water systems. Not that that wouldnt be an incredibly dumb way to power your hot water system.

Also, minor note - cure wouldnt treat influenza anyway. Between that and the fire materia thing, I almost suspect you are making your outrage up to spark ... lets just say debate instead of meaner words.

If this were Marvel, Bloodborne Old Ones wouldn't be a problem. Ain't no way in hell the Elder God's, Outer God's and Other God's of the Marvel Multiverse sharing. Considering Marvel and DC are metaphysically connected, and by some theories the Presence and the One Above All are the same being or parts of the same being, the Presence might just let let a few tentacles through if Bloodborne Old Blood becomes too much of an issue

Honestly dc has enough great old one equivalents and there all pretty messed up. Perpetua comes to mind or The empty hand , in fact anything from the dark universe like the upside-down man fits the bill really and if stuff gets really bad u make a deal with the beings who destroy dc and Marvel for fun 5th dimensional imps. ( take this info with a salt)

The darkness, the opposite of everything good, is far to simple to even approach the incomprehensible scale of true Elder God. As Powerful as the Empty Hand is, he cannot touch a Many Angled One simply for what they are is untouchable, they are infinitely more real than he or any of his contemporaries could ever be.

The reason Marvel is still standing is because they don't care. They are very closely based on the Cthulhu mythos that way. They take their Cancerverses, each infinite in size, and are mostly content.

Please don't try to paint me as a provocateur when the obvious answer is that I misremembered, much as several other people did.

Esuna is likely to help with diseases. I believed it was on the Cure materia. It is actually on the Heal materia. I haven't played FF7 in like ten years.

First, fair. Everyone deserves the benefit of the doubt until proven otherwise. It's just that your post feels like you're taking things in the worse light possible, almost beyond what can reasonably believed to be a misunderstanding.
