[x][Agenda] Plan Cornuthaum 1832 v2
[x] [Monument] Brotherhood between nations
[X] [Research] Prototype Railroad (0/25) [Industrial][Transport]

The First Transcontinental Railroad was finished in 1869. That might be a more realistic target to aim for than 'next couple turns'

Right now railroads are going to be Max IC raisers. Now, taking the railroad action will contribute to improving transportation infrastructure, but the technology and economy just isn't in place to result in radical changes long distance.
We're at 5 with a cap at 7, IIRC. However both 6 and 7 create pollution.
Interesting. This means that with Prototype Railroad, our cap will be 9 IC. (6 + 50% = 9). That lets us regen 5 Temp IC per turn, which is a lot of wiggle room for Develop Transport Infrastructure. That's enough where we legitimately might be able to take 2x DTI without dropping everything else to do it.

It'll come with 3 Pollution, but that's life in the industrial age. We just need to raise SoL so no one notices that cities are awful.

@Academia Nut, is the difference in the narrative between us or Nohon declaring rivalry first big enough that it could affect Hung's support and opinion meaningfully?

Potentially. Like, whether you come off as aggressive or having the initiative if you declare first, or as cool headed pragmatists or reactive if you declare second will be largely about what other actions you take that can potentially shape the narrative.

Sorry, but, @Academia Nut , how do we make people less likely to listen to Nohon?

Well, they tend to be more than a little piratical so they can hurt trade in ways that annoys the major mercantile powers, but the Coalition Wars massively disrupted a lot of their colonial efforts, and the Nohon have been reshaping their foreign policy in ways that suggest that they now consider the Hung not an overwhelming overlord but a potential prize. You would most likely have to make friends with the relevant powers in the region first to be able to convince them that bombarding the Hung Cantons into submission and forcibly opening the kingdom up for trade on their terms would be a bad idea.

what's our current Max IC?

5 without pollution, 7 with pollution.

What's the most heinous stereotype foreigners have of the noble YmarGulruvian?? Or really just stereotypes in general.

Sexual deviancy.

can you do a short 1828 National Stereotypes update?

Probably.

Negaverse Hung Intelligence Report 1828 EY
Diplomatic Dispatch From The Nohon

Diplomats from the ports open to foreigners note that the number of traders from the Vortuga and Hespranxia have massively decreased in recent years. Some prodding of merchants, both from the affected nations and the others who have come to fill the gap, reveal that a series of wars have gravely weakened those two barbarian nations. This does explain the reduction in the amount of silver the foreign powers have had to trade in recent years, though there is some hope that with the relative peace right now, trade may pick up again soon, bringing much needed silver with it.

The Nohon are also pleased to inform the court that their jobs have been made significantly easier in the past few years with the weakening of the Syffrynites. They believe that there will be no need to worry about increased piracy in the coming years. A relief to many in the Court, as there was great debate on whether the funds could be found to increase the navy if needed.

The Nohon have expressed concern at the recent aggression shown by the Ymaryngylruv at ports. They have hinted at requesting restriction of some of their normal tributary rights if such belligerence continues, though many officials have pointed out that the Ymaryngylruv have been fairly peaceful within the ports themselves, and as such any aggression is likely only directed towards the Nohon.

A.N: Moratorium ends now, go ahead and vote.

Oh boy, Dual Crown seems to be getting a bit more aggressive. Really hoping that this isn't the first domino getting ready to fall...
Vomr said:
So, less pirates for now, but they'll probably come back when the silver starts flowing again. Nohon got it covered for now, but we really, really need to start investing in the navy.

You know, if everything else wasn't on fire for literally 1 second.

We might need to reinforce our northern frontier, or at least get the Nohon to watch the Dual Crown like a hawk. They don't seem to be in a position to do anything yet, but that aggression is a bit worrying. They've been open to diplomacy so far though, so we'll have to hope they send a trade mission or diplomats to us soon so we can figure out what they want.

So Spain and Portugal are down for now, probably for the next century or so even. Which means that we're probably going to see Britain and France filling that gap soon. We know the British are in Kus right now, so we're going to have to make sure the Nohon crack down hard on smugglers to make sure. Can't let the opium wars 2.0 start.

Dammit, if we weren't utterly fucked without it, I would happily let them in and trade with them all day. But nooooo, we need the fucking silver to keep from exploding.

Does anyone want to bet the Nohon are trying to get us to hate the Ymar? We did hear about them having a badass military, and with that new land border the Nohon share with them, they might be just a tiny bit nervous about those armies coming down and stomping them.

Hell, said armies would likely be a nightmare for us, and we've got a well equipped army and literally millions of men to throw at them. For the sea based Nohon? Yeah...
HungEmpire said:
Yeah, I could see them trying to get us to piss off the Ymar, so that we'll take their side in the war in the future.

Having Not!Russia on our side is far more useful long term, but on the other hand, the Nohon are the ones keeping our seas safe. Gah, that's not going to be fun to deal with...
Bluium said:
Simple answer to that, we don't take sides. Let them duke it out with the other. Hell, the Ymar can't fight with such a long distance without us, so they'll step carefully around us just to make sure the Nohon don't declare on them.
mainstory said:
Well, at least things could be worse. Sea routes are currently stable, and we at least have a general idea of what's going on through the Nohon. If shit starts to go down, we should have a bit of time to react and modernize.

Note: Just a quick thing that came to mind when I saw our rumor mill. Was wondering what the Hung one was like...

Anyway, I think the topvoted plan is Cornuthaum's.

[][Agenda] Plan Cornuthaum 1832 v2
-[][Agenda] Diplomatic Outreach - 1 PW: -1 Temp SoL, +2 Temp Trust (The Hung Empire)
-[][Agenda] Declare Rival - 1 PW, -1 Trust, Declares another nation a Rival, altering interactions and costs with them. Rival must be a Peer. Max 3 rivals. (The Nohon Empire)
-[][Agenda] Diplomatic Outreach - 2 PW: +1 Trust, -3 Temp Trust - The Tortun Duchies)
-[][Agenda] Improve Standard of Living 2PW: Increases SoL by 1, -1 IC
-[][Agenda] Increase Armies - 2PW: Increases Armies by 1, -1 IC
-[][Agenda] Develop Industry - 1 PW: Increases IC and Active Development by 2, -2 Temp IC
-[][Agenda] Develop Transport Infrastructure - 1 PW, -3 Temp IC, +1 Max Development, (8 more uses to remove Undeveloped Hinterlands status, 3 more uses to remove Isolated Hinterlands) (0 PW for the first use a turn)
-[][Agenda] Launch Espionage Mission - 1 PW to start, variable additional PW, Trust, and Espionage (The Conservative Party of the Dual Monarchy of Gylruv-Ymaryn)

I have a few complains about this plan.

1) It doesn't take the free IC expansion. This is simply a waste, as the plan has free Temp IC available.
2) Declaring Nohon a rival is completely premature. I see no reason and no benefit in doing it.
3) Doesn't provide a tech research boost to take advantage of the Sketch interest

@Academia Nut can we have our conscript Rotate to make Roads and bridge? Aside from infrastructure, I am also hoping to get some military tech and traditions out of this :V

They're already ignoring her...

For now, back when she first arrived it was a, combination of our settlers in Kyberia and our traders acting on a Diplomatic outreach that made them send her to marry a Khan, since then we have not had a outreach i believe (and done a quick check). If we combine a diplomatic mission along with her testimony then both will act as witnesses to each other. The fact that we have not made any diplomatic outreach since she arrived has probably contributed to why they dismiss her letters.

So, any Nohon Containment Effort would have to focus first on establishing the value of not bombing Hung into submission and playing up Nohonese piracy as bad for trade.
Relevant powers in the region, to clarify, are Sketch, Vortuga, Hespranxer and Halvyni, right?

(edit: all the while poking Hung to wake the fuck up...honestly, them being bombed would do some good to them, if they don't blow up into decades of warlords and megadeth rebellions)

Honestly, I am not on board with strengthening the Hung, Strong industrialized Hung would admittedly be worse than the Nohon for us in the long run.
I still think they will dismiss us out of hand though.

I've been wondering for a while now if the thread is going to pull a Napoleon III. :p

Possibly.

Official military engineering rather than sapping or working the cannons is likely going to come up soonish. Probably be a choice in the next Mil Tech draw.

Correct on both counts.

They asked for heinous, not seductive.

Look, I can't detail it out without breaking the rules, but suffice it to say a lot of people get entirely the wrong picture from talk about the public baths and how remarkably chill you are towards the Black Sheep, who everyone knows are filled with harems of barely clad women surrounding silk clad princes smoking opium from hookahs, so obviously the People must consider that tame.

Strong Industrialized Hung is inevitable whether it's a century or two from now. Since we're playing a game that'll stretch out into the Space Age, we need to make sure we're on the Hung's good side.

Uh, nice to know.

Or, and hear me here, we could not have the Hung get industrialized and have Imperialist Ideal trickle in during the Era of Imperialism and not have them decide that maybe they should be the one colonizing Kyberia, and all of Asia for that matter.
